  • Save $200+ dollars by doing a little research and having a little patience in finding this awesome set of wrenches.
If you time the purchase just right you will find the best value.
I myself love quality tools at the best price about 90% of the time. The other 10% I just purchase it as quick as possible before my impulse runs out. Below are the links to the wrenches as stated in the video. The prices were as of 5/23 so there will be fluctuations. In fact when my co worker bought the $154 set, it was a 3 weeks before I filmed this. So you can see how quickly the prices can change. Google will show you the low and high and averages along with the site links.

    Thanks again!
And special thanks to ‪@atdtoolsinc‬ for sending me some swag for their 45th anniversary. It is truly appreciated!

So I counted the tooth clicks on my matco vs cornwell and cornwell is advertised as 120 but its only has 90. unless they updated it. My Platinum is 72 teeth, the matco and cornwell are 90 . Icon are ordered as well. I will compare mountain and icon tooth clicks as well.

I have the Monster set that I bought close to 7 years ago and they are still going strong. A few years back I picked up the Mountain 21mm through 24mm mostly for alignments. Even though Monster are no longer in business I still beat the crap out of them and if never warranted any of them. Personally I hate spline. For that reason I have the Matco 8 through 19 mm box / Flex individual wrenches those set me back almost $700! I keep those in my roll cart and the monsters in My Big Box and only break them out when I need the offset for like tensioners what you described as caliper bracket bolts and things of that nature. I am an impact first wrench second flat rater😂

@johnlagreca6288 It was more of a facetious question. I know it's still around. I mean, the entire rest of the world uses metric, except the old American curmudgeon guy. And since the US doesn't manufacture anything original, we outsource production jobs and materials from the rest of the world. It's an outdated system of measure that just complicates everything.

The only thing I found on par is some old Craftsman Skinny wrenches in SAE but they are old old, like from the 70's and not ratcheting. I never saw the point of them and they were in my dad's tool box, but then one day I got into a situation where I had to take a torque converter off a LS motor I could not spin over due to rust. agree 100% with everything you said. i got my matco set for $190 with a student discount, mountain set is currently $150. spent a little extra so i can tool truck them if they break. i also decided to get the matching 21-22mm for an additional $60 i believe (only fault of these sets is the 19-20mm and not 19-21mm). was going to get the snap on equivalent since they are their own design with a better ratchet mechanism but theyre about $400 even with my discount and they visually look like they have a bigger head.

These are the best xl box wrenches, hands down. Couple extra points if anyone cares
    1. There are 72 tooth and 90 tooth
    2. Ktool XD also makes em(brands em)
    3. I believe the company that makes em is Kabo(taiwan)

Buy two sets of the cheaper ones for $300 and you don't have to worry about potential warranty delays and still come in under the tool truck price.

Nice review! I ordered the ATD 99650 on Amazon and i will arrive next Tuesday(March 5). "A lot" shipping and tax-costs(coming from outside the EU), but i knew that.
When a bolt/nut is very thight, of course is first use a braker bar or wrench.
And.."everything" comes from Taiwan but it doesn't mean it's bad quality. Sonic as you know is a Taiwanese brand, good but not cheap. But i do not like the design.

I got lucky with my Matco set. I bought mine used through ebay for a $180. They’ve all been warranted at this point because I use the hell out of them.
FYI, Matco has changed or selected a new design to a regular ratchet selector style. Probably because of the old style switches would switch accidentally. I highly recommend every mechanic have this set and the 21/22, 24/25 set

EZ red has that same set too, on a side note if you get them off the tool truck you will have an easier time getting them replaced under warranty from the tool trucks, I haven't been able to get the mountain wrenches warrantied online

    • @cheeseo9798
      @cheeseo9798 Před rokem

Actually I believe EZ Red was first and only ones to sell these until recently, I worked with a guy who had the EZ Red set for like 5 years or something and then maybe 2 years ago he sent one to get a new one and they sent him a Mountain brand. I believe EZ Reds licensing deal with the manufacturers expired and that’s when the manufacturers licensed the wrench to all the brands that currently sell them.

I dont do these videos myself often,in fact this is the first one comparing prices rather then tools since its the same tool for the most part. its more so to make people aware and dont immediately pull the trigger on something, take some time, do some research. never know what you will find!

People need to understand that just because a product looks like another and is made by the same manufacturer it doesn't mean the construction or the materials are the same. It all depends on what the end seller specs out for the tool's construction. I have had that 3 time tool borrowing for about 40 years now.

    • @MasterTechLou

I agree. Im not scholar but I was taught the price was equal to what it takes to produce the item, overhead, package and ship. Plus the percentage of profit based on units sold as in qty 1 is higher price than qty of 10 units. So how can a tool truck that doesnt produce its own products come up with a price 300% markup higher , my only answer is because people are payin it. And these are in demand. My toolbox is filled with craftsman. Use the right tool for the right job and almost any brand will last you forever.
