  • Alexandar Georgiev, Andrew Cogliano, & Cale Makar Press Conference in Colorado Avlanche Locker after Avs Lose Game 1 of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs vs the Winnipeg Jets 7-6. Andrew Cogliano: "It comes down to a couple of mistakes here and there that end up in the back of our net... Overall we played hard... It's a grind and we know how it is in a seven game series for a reason." Alexandar Georgiev on his game: "It was not enough today, unfortunately." Cale Makar: "Unfortunately all the mistakes that we made ended up in the back of our net... A couple of things to clean up and then you turn the page."

Please get Girard back… Manson is absolutely killing us with way too much t.o.i.

Not the best performance in net for sure, but the Avs scored six. ... My guess is the Jets aren't too pleased with their goaltending tonight either.
My focus was on the turnovers in this game. Some poor passes. Cost the Avs game 1.

@@gabehousewright9839 do you honestly think he wasnt a big part of the loss? yes there were turnovers, but come on, he hasnt shown being consistently good! being the goal tender, you gotta take a good amount of the blame considering they only have 20+ shots on goal

@@blandbull no I know he wasn’t good tonight, but he still had the most wins all year by any goalie, it’s the first game of the playoffs, we also scored 6 goals against the 2nd top goalie in the league , give him a break

. You just played yourself. We score 6 against the 2nd best goalie and still couldnt win.

Seven game series ... One down, six to go. Let's see how they bounce back. I'd say they did a pretty good job considering the last time the Jets scored 7 on them, they scored zero goals. This was definitely an improvement.

With moderately bad goalie play the Avs win that game. Unfortunately they got horrendous play in net. At the deadline we all knew that a goalie was by far our biggest need.

Avs fans were saying the biggest need was a 2C and we wanted a decent back up goalie

@@Quinton_Hockey_Network I've thought the biggest need was goalie for quite awhile. Georgie has been fighting the puck and has been out of position alot this year. The standard response has been to look at how many wins he has had this year which is a farce considering his gaa and save percentage along with how many goals the Avs have been scoring in support.

@@underthelibertytree712 yeah I feel that but back at the deadline a lot of fans were saying 100% need to fix 2C and then potentially backup goalie because of Georgiev. I for one thought we would be okay at goalie because Georgiev had his flashes and was good for us last year so part of me thought he’d be able to turn it back on but I was so wrong. I also agree that looking at wins is the wrong stat to be looking at. Wins are a team stat in general not just a goalie stat

The Avs will never be better than their goalie. As Georgiev isn't good, so goes the team. I don't know that the Avs really had the opportunity to better themselves at the trade deadline, given who was available, but Georgiev has been bad all year. There's a REASON people call him "Fourgiev".
