  • Just a little demonstration on how I climb using just my platform. Works well for me, and saves a lot of weight I would need to carry out. I tie my gun or bow off to the end of the climbing rope to hoist them up. The tree and the height I go up determines whether I repel or climb down. I keep a linesmen's rope in my saddle pouch. I keep a short tether in my backpack also. #saddlehunting #deerhunting #nosticks #saddlehuntingplatform

    I just got a $40 climbing saddle, a used platform on craigslist and built a ladder out of 5/8 tubular webbing (rated for climbing) and PVC for steps and the setup works beautifully. Thanks for sharing your method! Can't wait for archery this fall.

      No problem. Hunting season never seems to come fast enough.

    Ill be doing it this way this year. I got a platform and made a three step aider and have been practicing. Lightest and easiest climbing method I know of. Thankyou sir!

    I think this is a great idea and I am going to try it. It might save me 200 to 400 dollar's on sticks. Prices are crazy!!!

      Yeah prices on everything is crazy right now, I really like that I don't have to carry the sticks climbing like this.

    Have a one stick and just can’t get up and down as quickly and quietly as I can with 4 sticks. I want badly to be able to but just can’t. I actually believe if one sticking is your thing this is clearly the way to go!!! Cheaper by far to as one sticks get pricey!!!

      I love hunting out of the saddle, but I hated having to carry and set up the sticks. I have some back issues, carrying and climbing with just the platform is easier on my back than having to carry and set up the sticks. I still use sticks when I know I'm going to be hunting the same spot for multiple hunts.

      I’ve been doing hitch climbing with a pole, very versatile. 5-20 ft pole, SRT ascent with footloop and bridge on ascender hitches, rappel on the bridge hitch and Munter hitch. One transition and set platform one time at 20-25 feet or whatever needed. Can use the pole for walking stick, snake stick, pruning pole, as well as setting or removing rope.

      My first year saddle hunting I used some helium sticks with the little platform mounted on top of the stick. Hated carrying them and the small platform was uncomfortable. Bought the EDP platform and decided to try and climb with just the platform and it worked really well. Packs small and fairly light.

    I've been waiting for someone to make a video about climbing with a platform. Nice video!
    Ot may seem like alot of work to some, but one particular method may be super easy for one, but extremely hard for another. We are individuals and react/use energy in different ways when climbing.
    I'll be ditching my "one stick". Nice video, My Brother!

      Great set up! Thanks. When i come down i use a MadRock to descend and retrieve my safety line with a S biner attached to a length of para cord to pull my safety line out of the girth hitch

      I repel down sometimes with a figure 8, depends on the tree. I've had problems getting my rope down a few times.@@tcon6504

    That’s a lot of work, when you could just hitch climb, use a pole to set a SRT rope up at 25 ft with a retrievable hitch, then SRT , set your platform one time, using a foot loop and ascender hitch requires little effort and you are tied in absolutely safe at all times

    • @HUNT-FISH-REPEAT
      @HUNT-FISH-REPEAT  Před 4 měsíci

      I tried the hitch climbing using the paracord loop, it was a little harder on my back than climbing with just the platform.

    How to you secure your 3 step aider to the platform

    • @HUNT-FISH-REPEAT
      @HUNT-FISH-REPEAT  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The aider I purchased has buckles on the end which allowed me to loop it around and buckle it on. I purchased the aider from a company called Hang Free. Aider held up good for one season so far.

  • @kennethrogers1129
    @kennethrogers1129 Před 4 měsíci +1

    So you are actually one sticking. Takes 3 transitions to get 11 ft, so for twenty at least 2 -3 more. That’s a lot of work and rustling around, of courseany climbing method does, better than carrying and clacking with a climbing stand. And you can get around limbs, as long as you like it, but don’t slip , as you are not tied in at all times.

    • @HUNT-FISH-REPEAT
      @HUNT-FISH-REPEAT  Před 4 měsíci +2

      For me it is all about not having all the extra stuff to carry. I stay tied in but could slip and fall about 3 feet with the method I'm using. I also carry a linesmen's belt with me too, incase I have to go around branches. It I drop the platform, I can get down the tree with the tether and linesman belt also.
