    Dark and dramatic. I love a moody photo. I feel like it tells a story and provokes a feeling of intimacy vs something that’s (to me) overpowering with light, even shooting directing into the sun in the composition with her white dress- let’s say in a sunflower field… underexpose enough to get decent color, play with contract and maybe bump the highlights down a bit and add a little whites and boom 💥. In post I’m big in editing my subject and background separately then I do final light/exposure correction in the photo as a whole.
    I strive for photos to be just as good as watching a video, to provoke the minds visuality to imagine what’s going on or what’s happening next in the photo.

    While I like them both I think I will go with the dark and Dramatic. One, because it's Dramatic which I lean towards. But as well, because you need to know what your doing to create the Dark and Dramatic images. Something not all can do, which separates you from the masses.

    Dark and dramatic. The white dress really pops with the flash and shows the designs of dress.

    Image 1 Dark & Dramatic, Image 2 Light and Airy. The focus is a bit soft vs. what I normally see from your shots. Shooting conditions I suspect. I have been adding drama to my edited images over that last few years as well. Since 95% of mine are action (live vs. posed) shots, lighting in not controllable so Post Processing is the route taken. Underexposed RAW is where I usually end up so not much is lost. This was a great video. I learned quite a bit. I do have an OCF setup. Thanks for sharing. Great work by all. You did look cold too.

  • @JGZphotography
    @JGZphotography Před 2 lety +2

    Excellent! Dark and dramatic using a flash will always give the focus on the subject and yeilds a more finished picture. However, in absence of a flash in those candid moments, the RAW image can be selectively masked to darken the background while highighting the subject in post. I often do this in most of my photography. A bit of doging and burning can bring extra shadow dimension to the subject and attire.

    I'm a fan of all your videos and work. I remember you saying that you use Aperture Priority (AP) mode, but how do you keep an image from blurring with movement? I know that I want at least 1/500 shutter speed, but in AP mode, I don't control that directly. Any suggestions? I like to keep my ISO at 100 to prevent noise. I shoot with a Nikon D7200.

    • @SalCincotta1
      @SalCincotta1  Před 4 měsíci

      ty very much!! ok... so yes. if you are trying to freeze action - you can either control ISO or Aperture. that will get shutter to where you want it. if you have a very specific shutter YOU MUST HIT... then go into manual mode. but i would say you prob dont need that - you just want to not drop below 500th. so... if you want iso 100 and shutter 500th... you only really have one choice... Aperture, right? and if you are wide open and its still too slow on the shutter... you again, only have one choice,.. ISO. make sense?
