As a healer or dps I appreciate your love and dedication to tanking. I also really like that you didn't just say this is the meta and the meta rules. Having fun while playing is the most important thing.
The comment during the DK section how nice it is to be in control of our health hits hard today. As you know I'll be putting some time into learning the Aug side of Evoker, but my personal tank alt list goes something like Monk = Warrior, Demon Hunter, Death Knight, and Blight of the Grizzlemaw. I feel like I forgot a tank but if I forgot it then it must not be important.
As i like and have to be ready to heal, i’ll go with Monk, Brew looks amazing with the new changes and the hero talents are good enough to main it for me; with Sham and Mage to follow.
Early indications seem to point to Warr being least effected by the tank nerfs, and they were pretty strong before. I'm considering tanking this expansion, I had some experience tanking way back in BC/Wrath on my Warr. Could be the play.
Yeah I'm gonna record a video about this later today when I have time. The nerfs seem even-ish across the board so I don't think it changes the relative strengths of tanks to each other very much. I don't think any of them were heavy handed enough to change my opinions or relative enjoyment of each tank though.
@@candulimataoo2852 The Blood one does hurt after reading it more closely. Death Strike got gutted and Blood was already the tank most susceptible to randomly flopping. The armor buff to Bone Shield is good, but I think Blood needs another baseline damage reduction buff to compensate here. Ultimately I think how this plays out is going to depend on how they tune the dungeons. It's very concerning that the full patch notes don't have any dungeon changes...
Think meta will be Warriors and Druids for M+. Debating should try tanking on a DK or play guardian since all the other druids spec seems subpar to me.
Torn between druid and monk on my side. Would like to play tank, heal and dps so will be between those 2 but damn hard choice for me ... Your video is a really good recap ! Keep the good work :)
No offense, but your guild is gonna be struggling with multiple Prot Pallys. They got nerfed pretty hard today. Prot Warrior and Brewmaster are looking like the best tanks right now since Blood got nerfed hard as well.
Any consideration for the dps specs tied to each tank when you make your pick? Or do you generally never swap specs? I find that I love tanking in M+, but for raids I vastly prefer DPS. Finding a main that allows me to feel strong for keys while also having a fun and relevant DPS spec for raids can be TOUGH
Thanks for the great question! I do consider that for sure but it's more of a secondary consideration. In short all of the tanks have a spec I'd be happy with playing as on off-spec in keys or even in raid. Fury is probably my favorite DPS spec in the game period, but I also like Unholy, Windwalker, Feral (less so but I've got a soft spot for it) and Resto, Havoc, and Ret.
Im debating on warlock or druid tank for this patch and im only really looking for a tank is because im sick of wait Qs and having a hard time getting into mythic + like with DF.
I made and posted this video before nerfs were announced. It seemed reasonable at the time to think they wouldn't do something like this with a month to go before release, but I guess that was incorrect. Still, the nerfs as they are now don't change how I feel about Warrior, and if they're bringing even more nerfs on top of this I don't even know what to say.
@@ThordrenekGaming From experience I wouldn't put anything past them, before the release of Shadowlands Frost Mage was looking the business, which was great since I mained a Mage and it didn't have the complexity of the Arcane or Fire ramps, Blizzard totally gutted the spec the week before release because someone over there panicked it was too strong and it stayed that way for the entire expansion.

Yeah I think Warrior is walking away relatively unscathed here. Brewmaster looks like it might actually be stronger with the armor + stagger buffs.

Sorry if I misspoke, we have multiple Ret Paladins, not Prot Paladins.
Tank at the moment = Monk>Warr>>DH>Bear>>>>>Pala>BDK
That seems to be the relative power ranking of them for sure, though I want to do more testing before I'd lock that in.
