It’s sick seeing how supportive all riders are for each other. As if they’re just having a casual sesh… but then with crook 5’s and pegs hard whips.
I mean it's pretty much the exact same with me and my buddies except it's tire slides and wheelies.
cause they mostly compete against themselves, not against other athletes..

Lewis deserved that. Devon never fell during all three runs, but Lewis changed each run up. Sick. Also, did he just beat his boss in a contest?
Matt ray's 540 are savage, it looks like he will send a 720 and then slow down the rotation mid-air.
That was so great I wanted to see Lewis on the first place cus what he does is fresh!

Awesome! I still think Matt Ray should have gotten higher, can't say who because all were great, but he's as smooth as the bowl guys while still doing the insane tricks.
It’s like they don’t give him a good enough score because of how easy he makes the tricks look
I don’t think he places high because he’s not doing the grind stuff others do but the rest of his tricks are just as hard
@@Mart7y I think you are right and the lack of grinds hurts him but street is about much more than grinds so I would like to see that scoring philosophy change.
He's been robbed many times . I bet he doesn't care anymore , but he should be placed higher in every xgames he's been in . Xgames judging has been absolute garbage the past couple years

I agree to, nobody is doing 180 tire grabs as that clean in, street contests.
It's a toughy decision, i expect the scoring was very tight between 1st and 2nd especially.

My thoughts exactly! I came here after watching Park finals (it was painful) and immediately read your comment: ended up skipping most of the video.
Whatever happened to big wallrides (or curved ones), subboxes and subrails? I also don't get why this separation of Park and Street is still a thing: it puts riders in categories where they mostly do the same stuff. Great riders used to throw bangers AND know how to be tech! Plus they had their own style and didn't copy everything (or not as much). You guessed it, i grew up watching guys like Osato, Homan, Ruben, Freimuth, Taj, Layos, Doyle to name a few.

Can't say I agree with a lot of the judging that went down.
Even in flatland, second and third should've looked a little different there. Idk...guess judges have their favs in bmx. Nothing new with that, but it shouldn't be that way. At least I don't feel it should.

So I noticed in practice that Matt ray was running the coaster buttt he decided to go with cassette for the comp ? So I’m guessing the weird layout he needed more bike control and wanted to be able to use the pedal pressure to crunch out of situations if need be? Am I hot or cold Ryan? Was this talked about?
Good eye. I was curious so I asked him: “Yeah I switched after first practice , I’ve just been riding cassette for a bit now so figured I’m more comfortable with it and I’ve never ridden an XGames with cassette”

People have been doing flairs on street for years now. It's a street move too. Sports progress.
@@cattalkbmx okay, but what I love in street is creative lines with some basic tricks. It’s style like art, but big tricks it’s good and impressive, not like spam in street
@@cattalkbmx yeah street riders can now flair anywhere. But I guess the judges took note on flow with creative line and not on big tricks.

We all know if garrett landed that uprail hard 1 whip his last run he would have taken the gold
edit: on second thought, Lewis probabaly would have taken that W either way, so smooth and stylish with insane tricks. just so used to Garrett at the #1 spot, and for good reason, but great to see Mills and Devon up there!

I'm totally impressed w/ everyones riding but I can't accept that Lewis won on his 3rd run when he only did a few barspins, a grind and a tire grab.... I cannot accept that as a 1st place run. LoL
Its "three runs, best run counts", he won with 2nd run, 3rd was just fun for him. And 3rd run was full off risky tricks, not just "a few barspins, a grind and a tire grab". He just made it looks easy and effortless, hense 1st place. Can`t imagine being judge there thou.

I'm not watching again, but i don't recall he cranked any of his manuals, whilst the other riders were, and Devon had some nice mannies.
Devon's run was technical, smooth, and stylish...and he made it look effortless. I thought he was scored accurately.
