cool, I made one similar. My main pole is a wooden curtain rod, pvc for the spin bar. You can go a bit up market with a foam sleeve for the bar or wrap with packing foam wrap. My base is a bin with brickie sand, same as my makiwara base. Cheers

I’ve tried making one but it’s not really practical. The platform has to be super rigid. I’m working on designing a rigid platform but that’s a few weeks away. Best option for now is to simply buy one.

I’m thinking about making one, I’m an amateur boxer, is it something you have to hit lightly or can you put a little pop into it? I don’t have access to a heavy bag so I’m looking to still stay a little sharp during this time.
Shavon Furrow you can hit it with a nice pop into it this build will help you out definitely these days as it’s fun good for you reflexes and can work out many different routines ! I would recommend it foo sho !
The reflex bag is better for that and definitely works out my arms, shoulders and core while I get maximum cardio and helps improve reflexes. The spar bar can also be hit quite hard and fast but not as hard as the reflex bag. The biggest advantage of the spar bar is the simulation of someone swinging a punch at you. Learning to weave and bob is it’s greatest benefit, working out your legs just as much as your upper body. Not to mention improving reflex action. 👍💪👌

I got the reflex bag already so making the spar bar attachment shouldn’t be too hard... but right when I seen the price $100-$200 just for the bar I told myself instantly I can make this shit lol

I am going to build your reflex bag this weekend for my boys. But i was just thinking about an addition to this style of sparbar. Given that the base doesnt need to flex and needs some weight to it, hence you inserting concrete into the pvc, i wonder if it would be better to build the stand out of wood, that way you can wrap some rubber padding around the stand so you can slip the bar and land a body shot. The stand would need to be weighted well of course, but for me its just my young kids, and its more about speed and head movement than landing heavy shots at this stage.
I reckon if you were ok having it out doors, just whacking a coppers log into the ground at the right height would do for a solid base that allows hard body shots. Would just need to work out a swivel for the arm
I’ve actually just finished building and filming an MDF platform just like that. I now have both bags on it. I used a metal flange and pipe to secure each to the board at opposite ends. Weighted in the middle with 2 10 litre containers. Posting tomorrow night.

What about using cheap swivel castor upside down on top of base pipe/pvc, remove wheel and bolt on a broom stick or thin pvc pipe covered by pool noddle. Give a go mate

What was the base made out of
In that video I was using a 25kg concrete umbrella base that costs around US$25. For stability, an umbrella base is best for the spar bar.

For that one I used an umbrella stand. Next video will show an alternative using an MDF board and PVC pipes

@Reedy kewlus, your instructions are not clear at all.. describing specific sections as "this" and that? Wtf mate? Cover the basics, the who, what, when, where and why before you jump on the tube and start posting. What sizes are the pipes and fittings? What does the whole thing look like? If there is an open pipe, which means two OPEN ENDS, what is used to stop or plug the end that the cement goes in? What does one use. Cotton???very frustrating for an 9 yr old to try and follow this instruction video the way you describe the details.
