He had this affair behind her back, and would have continued lying and cheating if she didn't find out. She gave him the choice to leave, he could have signed the divorce papers and went. At no point was he held hostage, lied to, or cheated on, and open marriage is just that, both parties know. It is not done in the dark or secret, unlike his lack of moral character. He wants to stay and suffer, that's his choice, he is a grown ass man! She assumes that he is having sex with other women, that's why they are using condom, which likely wasn't the case before.
