Hey man, thanks for this video! I just installed my intercooler so I can go stage 2 and this video helped make it super easy. My car is a b8.5 so some things were slightly different but nothing major. Thanks again!
I got this kit two week ago and installed it 3 days later took me about 2 hours because there were no instructions nor a video on this specific kit and it’s honestly really easy to instal the only hard part was the pipe leading from the front fright side of the intercooler up to the throttle body because I had to remove the headlight and the reservoir and lift up the headlight housing but that’s because I was trying to be super careful but I got it and it was easy. VERY GOOD QUALITY
Great video! Helped me a good bit on installing my CTS kit. I believe I had a slightly different kit than you. My Intercooler tabs were welded in the right configuration ha 👍🏼
U should have an cold air intake and ideally a some sort of catch can system before u go stage 2 .... also personally I would have valve cleaning service done just to C.Y.A.
if memory serves me i ende up removing some extra plastic out of the way. i assuming your talking about the ac lines. you can lean on them a little bit with out to many issues just dont strong man them. hope this helps. you got this
@@TheRwdyAudi Ok I’d wish you showed more of the drivers side of the car With the installation of the FMIC It’s seems to be the hardest side to do with charge pipe Mine didn’t come with the O ring I’d thought it was in bag, but it wasn’t I’m going to try and make the green one work Or go to a auto parts store to find one This is the last step for my car, to be fully stage 2 You’re video has been so helpful This is going to be my last purchase from CTS If it wasn’t for your video I would be lost with this install
Your very welcome my dude. I will say this installation was bit corky. They had several different fmic kits for the same chassis, which made things alittle odd to order. I'm almost willing to bet you could put a fuel injector o-ring on there. Be careful with that little o-ring it could hypothetical cause a nice sized vacuum leak, giving you other issues.
@@TheRwdyAudi No problem I’m just using it for temporary use Until I hear something from CTS You’re right There are different options of FMIC out there I should’ve went with the IE, because I had the tune

That is for your Homelink aka the garage door opener. I pretty sure all b8 models had this as a standard option I may be wrong tho. you can tell if your car is equipped with homelink by looking for 3 identical button located by the near the front dome light.
Yes the butt dyno could feel a difference with just the fmic, even with out having a tune on the car it was definitely a noticeable change I would beg to say it was mostly iat efficiency over anything else maybe 1 psi🤷♂️ (no boost Guage 😂) , the big difference came after tuning.
@@TheRwdyAudi thanks for the info im currently stage 2 and they suggest intercooler so I ordered the one from ecs im using your video as reference for install thanks again.
YOU SKIPPED RIGHT OVER THE INFO I NEEDED FROM THE UPLOAD WHICH IS THE ROUTING OF THE PIPES THE REST OF IT WAS SELF EXPLANATORY BUT THE PIPING I NEEDED HELP WITH
At the time of filming this no, that said the goal with this build has always been to build to support the end goal power number of 400 wheel for daily us, that cts fmic is good for upto 600hp efficiency range
Stick with a ko4 ... look into frakenturbo I've ran alot of his stuff and personally have a set of his turbo running for just over 10years now with alot of abuse on them and there still going strong
Technically yes and no .... a fmic will give gain you better IAT (intake air temp) and doing that by cooling the air coming into the motor that your turbo just super heated ,colder air means denser air. Which means more air shoved into the engine. So yes it you will see gains and feel it bit where your really gonna see the max benefit of a fmic is once your tuned and have all the boosty bois coming from that ko3
Exact same intercooler they put in my b6 kit... This kit fit like total ass. Without cutting my ultrasport bumper all over and getting rid of all my grills I cannot have it with the bumper on.. also had to flatten a pipe just to get the damn headlight in.. not impressed at all with the quality of this cts kit. I have installed ebay brand kits and amazon ones that did t require all the cutting and shit this expensive one did.

Your welcome my friend 👊😎
you have no idea how helpful this was
Your very welcome
Your instructional videos are getting a lot better!
Thanks my dude👊😎

I had similar issue with it I just moved the coolant reservoir, I didn't even think about moving the head good idea.

👊😎
Almost forgot, my MAP sensor hole was actually sized correctly, hence no inclusion of the black o ring in the hardware bag 👍🏼
What are your thoughts on the performance of this intercooler, what are your IATs vs ambient, and how’s heat soak after 30 minutes of hard driving?
Did you have to bend the a/c line out of the way to get the charge pipe on the right side of the intercooler?
yeah i had to give alittle tweak nothing to crazy.
Good job. Where's the tune video
I was lazy and paid someone to install my CTS intercooler on my A4. Great video though.
Thank you
How much did it cost?
I wanna say it was around 600 ish
Your issue with the metal flanges is that it seems you bought the intercooler for the allroad, not the a4
That makes since. You wouldn't think the front end would be that much different i wonder what the difference are side by side
@@TheRwdyAudi I’m installing mine right now, that top pipe going straight into the manifold is a painnnn took me like 2 hours
That one was alittle funky i do agree not bad over reminded me of playing tetris😂😂
Great vid! Is this and a down pipe all you need for stage 2?
U should have an cold air intake and ideally a some sort of catch can system before u go stage 2 .... also personally I would have valve cleaning service done just to C.Y.A.
any chance you’d be able to to a timing chain tensioner video? heard these go bad on b8s and an updated video would be nice :)
I can definitely do one. Great idea 💡 👍
Burn your Audi Oil?
You happen to live in Florida?😂. I would pay anyone that knows what they’re doing to put forged internals in my b8 A5
How did you get a hose around the hard line on drivers side
I might have to move the intercooler over
I’m struggling

One quick question
When you put O ring on the pipe
Did it sit up on the sensor
Do you think I can install the intercooler hose and throttle body hose without taking out the bumper?
Sry took me so long ... yes you should be able to do that with out a problem.
@@TheRwdyAudi I was able to but I have k04 so need some modifications with the pipes
Good stuff 👏
What was the length of bolts you used for mounting to the crash bar?
I used the bolts and hard ware that came with the kit they fit perfect even withy medications, rough guess they where about 3 to 4 in long
Did you have to modify or cut the front crash bar at all?
Techicaly no techically yes I did have to drill 2 holes to mount for mounting but they where approximately 1/2 "
does your audi have the audi drive select?
No
If someone has to cut and weld a marketed plug and play application, that doesn't seem like I product I would want out of the box.
I've been told by other viewers my customer must have purchased the allroad kit, cant confirm that but it would make since 🤷♂️
What did you do with your pulsation box??
Elaborate for me I not sure what "pulsation box" is ?.... (edited 2 mins later) I googled "pulsation box" it gets removed. Sry bout that I was reading you comment and scratching my head at the same time lol
whats ur diverter valve setup?
The b8 runs a "forge" Hybrid valve.(google FORGE you will see alot of clones THERE JUNK if you buy one spend the few extra bucks )
Where do you get a grill like that?!?!? I can’t find one anywhere!
I did another video on the grill install and there's a link in the description for them
Whats that sensor in the back of the badge/grill???
