never realized how great bardwell is at flying
he keeps improving
That was not bad for Bardwell, He got a lot more in him
he is learning each day do u got that time?
And i preffer le dribes flying any day...
@@patrickfrensdorff7485 no need to get hostile with him lol DO U GOT THAT TIME?!
Honestly bardwell‘s flying is underrated
totally, he's gotten super good. No surprise really - he practices a lot
True i never knew how good he really is untill this video
@@pepegac9999 yeah he also has a great series where he learn sbang on his channel
Who rated it?
@@andyhoughtaling6319 well I feel like there’s this image of him being like a coach of some sorts, someone who knows a lot about it but isn’t that good at it but after seing his sbang series it’s clear that he’s a top tier pilot himself!
How much power do you want?
Rotor riot: *YES*
How much power.
All of it.
huh?
I've been watching Josh for like 3 years now. It's amazing how far he's come with his freestyle. Dude is a BEAST now.
Feels like the missing pieces in his fence have made him really good at tight controlled power loops
I have no idea why any freestyle pilot would need that much power but I like it 😂
bardwells anxiety/face while the quad was in the tree lol.
Bardwell's face during Bubbys crash 🤣like are we gonna ignore the crash?!
Also if you're never going above half throttle it's harder to notice when the battery is dying because it has no issues delivering that much power until it can't anymore.
Good point
It was just odd that the punch-out was totally there 10 seconds before it died though. Although the one time I've had that issue, my 4s was DEAD DEAD and it wouldn't even come down in a controlled manner to land.
Bardwell's flight was awesome 🙂
Beginning of the video: We don't have OSD
End of video: We over-discharged the 8s pack 😂
An FPV Drag Race "FDR Championships" would be interesting
haha that dive at 5:00. rad.
15:27 ''OOOH Intentional!'' lmao love that
Foxeer Reaper F4 65amp 8s ESC has been AMAZING on two 10" builds I have. I can't imagine a 5" quad being able to kill it.
This good to know as I got one to build an 8s 7" on molicel p42a .
What fc u run ? I found rush blade f722 has 8s fc so have paired them two together.
I killed my 7 in 8s reaper on 1350kv 😭 it took my matek hdte with it. The saddest part is I didn't even crash it when it decided to fry, the voltage reg died on the esc just cruising around. Was a sad sad day
@@Brian-S oh this is basically exactly what my build will be . 1300kv on 6s is slow af . So was going try 8s . Maybe not a good idea now .
@@mx118racer you will need lower kv motors for 8S 7" setup. The only ones off the shelf I could find are the diatone 2808 1100kv. Make Sure to use a 50v330uf capacitor or higher
@@mx118racer #1. Tmotor F7 Pro 2. Lumin. Lux H7 Ultimate
I often forget how intertwined jb is in the entire drone scene 😂. This was excellent btw, didn't know my 6s 5" was underpowered, until I saw this. And now I need an 8s that I never knew existed 😅
c418 music???? hell yeah, good taste!
great rippin guys!
i can totally see steele gettin into 8s haha! hekk...whats 2 more cells???? 'mo powa baybehh!!!"
As someone who is going to build their first drone soon, this video is dangerous 🤣
so much passion in this video, couple a guys gushing over a quad, great vid!
HAHAHA thats what the spoiler for Bardwell LOL nice bubby!!!
Bring it to Rampage! I would love to see it!
i like how bardwell flew
I need this in my life.
Bardwell was shredding that pack
got mine today I love the fire extinguisher nice touch
Beautiful flights!
8s is crazy . JB is the dude
Are the motors/ESCs coming down cooler because of the lower current going through them? That could be a real benefit of pushing to higher voltages/cell counts: you can spin the props substantially faster without burning things up.
I'm not sure what the benefit of doing _that_ would be, but there very well could be one. Maybe putting on a throttle curve that has a big jump at/toward full throttle so you keep low-mid throttle resolution but have the ability to pull out of any dive? Something to think about...
Always wanted one of these for my videography work
FETtec has some 10S 5" motors and ESCs/FC they are experimenting with! That's nuts!
i would love to fly this 8s beast
great group of people👍
Been waiting for this day to come
Love this kind of videos!
Nice to see JB ripping this beast. Entertaining episode!
And i hope this is not the start of a new hype or maybe new standard... ;-)
So you’re not hoping for innovation
New hype calls for new ideas new trends
@@denis69istguessing that comment is from the cost perspective 😀
Thanks a bunch🙂
Technically, can even do 10S, but 12S 50.4V is pushing it. More cells, more packaging weight.
The MP9943 5V reg commonly used on FC supports up to 36V. Most FET used in ESC are only rated 30V.
But there are 40V and 50V options. 12S would mean around 900KV which is much thinner winding with 3x the turns of 4S.
Tuned nicely & sounds pretty zooty. Drops in like a damn cinderblock.
I can only say, man, that's wild. you all can fly!
I did smoox 1350kv on my 5" 8S build. Fetech has some 1100kv. I use a Foxeer 8s dual bec stack. Mine comes in at 613g with no gopro. The 1100mah gnb hv battery is a little better formfactor and weight.
Xnova 2208 1500kv work too.
In my humble opinion, a line has been crossed. There is a point where you have to accept that building for lightweight does not translate past a certain amount of weight and power. Much like a Lotus is no longer a Lotus once a V8 has been dropped into it, but a Bugatti can handle the weight and power of a bigger powerplant with poise and grace. Go 6" to make better use of the power.
A lotus is still a lotus with a v8 Your just talking 😂
@@harryfp1494 I am a canyon carver that has built several Volkswagen MKII GTI, and I can assure you that a W-8 under the hood of what used to be a 1850lb. dancer can no longer hold the same line without more meat on the tires, and better suspension.
More blades can always suck the power. And when you have 20 blades and the tips go supersonic you just add a duct to keep the blades from biting off more than they can chew. The duct in a turbofan regulates flow to pitch speed to keep AoA small and alleviate wave drag (typical tip speed is 1300 fps). IMHO you could put over 100 HP into a 5 inch fan before you'd truly need to upsize the diameter.
11:19 Pull out game on point.
loved this
One thing to consider.. higher volt can jump a wider gap in the electronics... ie, its easier to short out a tight build.
I mean yea technically yes but the difference between 4s and 8s is so negligible in terms of arc length that I honestly don't think it makes a difference
I mean even at 400v dc the arc maximum length is like 0.03mm
Yes lol, but that higher voltage is not going up 8.4v 😂😂😂. It take quite a bit of voltage to jump any gap.
Love it guys
The motor windings are really fine wire. You’re putting more power through the motor with higher voltage but less amperage, that’s why you can get away with higher effective kv.
I had these motors on my five33 switch back pro.
Float like a butterfly 🦋
Sting like a bee 🐝
Great guys!
This is so cool! ❤
Haha I know this exact spot and have been considering flying there a few times. Its literally 5 mins from my house. Hope I see y'all out there sometime.
Wow that 8s is crazy
ITS A BEAST ! 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁
Build it and he will come!
My 5 inch is distill running 4s too. But I'm currently going to switch it over for a bit.
great ep! 8s looks fun lol
Just stumbled across your channel - such incredible content. To someone who shoots from a DJI Mini 2, this is awe inspiring... Subscribed and liked - looking forward to more...:)
Sounds like it's time for you to grab a pair of Dji Goggles, their RC2 remote and any dji 03 compatible quad.. I started with the DJI FPV Combo, was super great for learning how to fly after first practicing in a simulator(Step 1), putting at least 36 hours in... Now I'm practicing low level and indoor flying with a 2 inch/4s CineON C20 V2/Dji03. The Dji FPV makes you a cautious/safe pilot because if you crash that's ur ass(and some cash)! The avg cost of repair is $80-$100, no need to bother with DJi Care. Any other 2s,4s or 6s quad is practically indestructible compared to the Dji FPV, but I would have never even gotten into the hobby if it wasn't for the DJi FPV, for sure... It is probably the best introductory FPV Drone on the market... In addition to its safety features, it also has normal and sport mode so you can fly it just like your mini 2 until you master manual/acro mode.
Awesome fellas . im fine with my 6s
Please mass produce these as custom builds.
I bet you 8s is exactly what The TANQ build needs with its extra weight! That's a perfect 8s frame!
8s is sick I want to build one myself. Killer edit guys!!
i need this spot......love it....
Loved this episode. 8S Is super interesting.
Hey Ian! Mad's Tech, My favorite FPV channel!
Interesting it really is is, but is it needed? 🤔
I think the biggest advantage of running higher number cells like this would be the lower current, which could help reducing heat, and being more efficient. But for the increased power, at least for freestyle I think there is not much benefit. And for our pocket, well, zero benefits..
amazing video as always. Maybe I missed that part on video, what camera this drone uses? Because there was so much news about Avatar V2 system - would be interesting to see more reviews and footage with it.
lol that pull out power
Wow now I have to make a 8s flying wing 🥰
Awesome video 💪🤘
there was a xknight 5" 4s from betafpv with 3000kv motors and it was also bonkers!
tis sick ngl
bardwells glare at bubby after he crashed lmao
bardwell is now a pro freestyler 🔥
One thing that I love about 6S is the length of flight time that I get! I have a 3" 6S drone that I fly with HV batteries and it is a blast!
Holy shit 2.5" 6s... awesome.. git vids on ur channel? Ill check it
@@SpaghettiFPV-tg3qh Sorry, early in the morning and was going by memory! It is a 3", not a 2.5" I have so many quads that I et them mixed up LOL!

yea i was gonna say hahah
I got an AOS 3.5 im doing into a 03 air unit 6s right now :)
should be fun hahah
@@SpaghettiFPV-tg3qh hows the aos3.5? I am looking at aos 3.5 vs quadmula f3 split with those hv 6s.
@@GlobalSourcing mate im still building im just waiting on a few lil things antenna etc from order.
I made an aos 5" if it flies anything like that it will be gold those frames are fuckin tight they feel so locked in when u fly.
I think this would definitely benefit from similar settings for throttle on Joshua Bardwell's video on tiny whoops and the type of non-linear throttle control when used in "tiny spaces" for mini-whoops. Because, as we can see this drone is clearly running out of space though, you could still have the mega punch on throttle that this drone so desperately has over the rest! But, it would have a much better consistency to a 6s and even a 4s on linear throttle control for more precise movements.
what is the spoiler looking thing on the back where the antenna is? Is that an antenna style, just for looks, or is it like an air brake? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new to this.
Sick!!!
This going to be like when everyone switched from 4s to 6s, but now its going to be from 6s to 8s.
Great video! Enjoyed the content...............
What monitor are you using to watch the footage? Looking for an external monitor for my fatshark dominator HD.
I'm interested to see current (Amperage) draw comparisons of 4S, 6S, 8S with equivalent RPM motors with respect to their voltage. I bet we'll see that using less current with higher voltage is the key to better efficiency and more realized gains in performance. You may also realize that with higher voltage, you can get away with using smaller gauge wire and probably less expensive electrical components (mosfets, diodes, etc.). By the way, I'm pretty sure a smaller farad, higher voltage capacitor would've given you ample filtering. A 330-450 microfarad 50V capacitor probably would've been plenty.
czcams.com/video/76TIanhpReA/video.html
looked like fun! 🐴🐴🐴
This is same idea we did with hydros pumps on cars running 48V or more to a 12V motor...spins much faster and only uses with short cycles.
We need this place in liftoff 😍
I don't know if it's because of the voltage, or if you need to raise the rates
awesome video!
It's really cool you guys are experimenting :)
In my view, as a watching fan, tracking skill moves of a drone is difficult - like watching a fly in your room.
Of course for the pilot it's much more fun.
- You did all sort of cool staff like attaching ribbons....
So, Here is an Idea I hope you'll like:
Race drones that carry a basket!! (earn string mechanics skills, and give a good show)
As drones are already being use as ferries to deliver... and they fly like a mythological fairy.
Make a ferry-fairy basket delivery race.
Just don't put a baby in the basket ;)
josh doesn't know what to do with himself when he isn't talking 100% of the time haha.
Only kidding josh - I love your content and what you do for FPV
this should be for 6inch freestyle, i really think thats the ticket there!
If you want to match the kV just multiply your actual Kv by your actual S and divide it by your new S. For example 1800kv for 6s then for 8s it should be 1800x6/8= 1350KV. They're using 1500kv that's why they feel it faster
you could try to bind full throttle to momentary switch, would be interesting on this kwad :D
How much for an 8s Tanq? Asking for ✌️ friends! 👍👍🇺🇸
Look it up online
2x 4s seems cool.
Rotor riot in 2025 - we just built a 12s quad
shawn.. built one wit 7".. tis would be a blast.. ✌️😆
that ought to carry some momentum :)
I love that the young kid comes in and out flys them all 💪
Awesome.
What freestyle drone should a nooby soon to be pro buy?
am looking at the "Fat Shark HD 5" Starter Kit" right now.
9:54 he doesn't feel the weight because he has a strong hand, because he worked a lot.thanks for the video.
I think on 6-7” 8S will be great, very high speed cruising
I built one with some 2408 1350k test motors on an apex 7 inch. Unfortunately I only had 1300mah packs to test it out but was getting about 4 mins of balls to the wall full throttle ripping. So I'd imagine it's be stellar on a long range set up with something like a 3000mah 8s
Foxeer has the 8S 60A slim ESC and mini dual BEC 8S FC.
Xnova sells 2208 1500kv motors.
Perfect combo. My 8s 5" build is nearly finished.
Next 8S 7" with 2808 1100kv motors
What about rcinpower smoox 1300s ? I am building one(8s5") right now. Trying to figure out the motors. I'm thinking foxeer 8s 65 amp esc, the 8s foxeer FC, vista, and running the vtx off a 9 volt bec. I also don't know why the couldn't get osd. They should be able to no problem.
@@skyweaver3199 you mean the rcinpower 2306.5 1350kv motors? Yeah, they will work.
Might just be a little slower than 1500kv.
Mathematically you need to multiply your prefered 6S motor KV by 75% and add an other 7% on top to get the same kv like the switch from 4S to 6S. If you want to know why, watch KabaFPV Video on 4s vs 6s motor talk. Basically the same applies here from 6S to 8s.
I`d try find 1500kv.
Nurk built an 8s awhile ago with two 4s batteries.
