- Heart-stopping video shows armed cops pulling over a dad and his daughter. At the time, Florida deputies believed the car was stolen. The dad was really worried because his daughter has epilepsy. Jason Frederico says all of those flashing squad car lights could have triggered a seizure. Turns out, the deputy who performed the traffic stop made a typo when he inputted the vehicle's license plate into the computer. The incorrect plate number came back as stolen out of New Mexico.

Tbh I wouldn’t even fault the officer for his mistake. His attitude afterward is what makes me sick. A simple apology and humility would’ve gone a long way to rectify the error. Cops acted like the dad and daughter were the problem.

Super: it sucked for him. He realized he was in trouble. He could care less about what he put the driver and the daughter through. He should not have passed testing.
We need to stop trivializing it as a mistake. Setting aside the number 'match', a florida tag that he searched returned a new mexico tag...on a different vehicle make. The fact this officer still has a job is the problem. Who knows maybe there was malice in this...he was bored and wanted to spice the night up and oops, a NM tag turns into a FL tag.
Pointing guns at people before double triple quadruple checking is completely insane. Should be sued to living hell and back. Can't just get away with that.
Even after triple checking they had no right to pull their gun on a non-violent crime of a stolen vehicle it didn't say armed robbery in the police database it says stolen vehicle which is completely different they had no reason to think they were armed and dangerous to pull a gun.

.why have guns out drawn for a stolen vehicle? last time i checked its not a capital punishment..they were all out of line
From my understanding, it’s police policy nearly nationwide to order anyone in a stolen vehicle out at gun point. It’s considered a high risk traffic stop. They do it to everybody. But they’re supposed to verify 100% that the car is reported as stolen. IMO, the problem here is that the main deputy thought this was some laughing matter.
