Our culture of been staunch and trying to be the toughest definitely needs to change.. We need to make those changes while our children are young.. teach them the value of knowledge and education.. Give them goals to be better then the past generation.. to higher educate themselves so they can find professional jobs (doctors ,managers, executives etc) and to be tradies ( builders, plumbers ,mechanics etc ) because I know we are better then what our stereo type is.. The importance of setting life term goals and chasing them.. I know it's hard, but we can accomplish them if you work hard at school and educate yourself.. Teach our wahine that there is more to life then having children young and that they too deserve to be in professional roles and it all starts with higher learning.. Don't bully other maori students because they are smart and knowledgeable.. Ask them to help you get to there level.. work with them.. not against them.. it hurts my heart to see our people looked down upon .. We are the natives of New Zealand, but we can be more then just that.. Stand up!!

Maybe not. Education and employment are great but if that comes with a gang patch and being essentially owned by a bunch of hardened criminals then that's no better than the alternative.

'gang members' is a government label, these men are strong and loyal fathers, sons and brothers. In nz we are looking for leaders at a community level so we can exclude corporate interest and our need to pay for it.. Let's go kiwis..

It's not that. When you're from a gang family, the norm is to grow up and naturally become a member. So this is to help steer away from that cycle. In other words, to offer up another choice before they ultimately make their life's decision.
