I have a 5 year old "new build" timber frame, generally I feel timber frame home owners are reluctant to look at loft conversions to gain space as they are unsure how it works and may contain unseen costs due to construction type. Can you explain the difference , ie steel placement, loadi gs etc... when there are no massive supportting walls etc.. and what the main difference is between the differing house construction types when looking to convert the loft ?? If there is none please excuse my ignorance ...
I live in Leeds, and I need a rear facing dormer adding to a detached house - I can do all the final fixing and decorating myself, I just need someone do the two RSJs and roofing for me for about 15 sqm of roof and the adjoining walls. What do you reckon cost wise?
