For all your viewers, comfrey is an edible plant. The leaves are widely and commonly used for consumption in Africa, steamed or cooked. I would say if anyone wants to try it, just cook one leaf and see how you feel. I eat the plant and also make healing oils. Both are priceless. Blessings from Slovakia
Sadly here in the USA we aren't aloud to address eating it.
Ok glad you said this my mom had surgery on her mouth and has a Hole in the roof of her mouth! I was going to try to make a tea for her but I didn’t know if it would help with her just drinking it but it seems like it will ! Thank you
@@GreenWitchHomestead I’ve seen plenty of CZcams homesteaders talk about eating it. We need to stop being afraid of things we were lied to about. The research that demonized this plant was an absolute joke. It’s obvious the study was designed to make comfrey look dangerous. They could have made kale look just as dangerous in a study like that.

Hello! 🌹 In the US we can and are ALLOWED to speak on whatever. You mean in the US it’s ALLOWED to be sold etc. First Amendment created Freedom of Speech.
@MiamiLuv from a business aspect, freedom of speech is obsolete. Yes, I have the freedom to say whatever I want. But that does not protect me or my business from the reprocutions of what I say.
Now when you throw medical into the mix here in the US we have the Drug administration to deal with and they determin what is or is not aloud to be used based on what they deam safe. Are they correct... sometimes. But even if they are not, I can not legally give what could be considered medical advice that goes against their rulings or risk federal charges.
Our country is not ad Free as you think it is. Open your eyes
In France we do not infuse plant emulsions in direct sunlight because it detroys the plant's medicinal properties. We place the jar in a paper bag or in a cloth sac; otherwise your recipe is just like mine !
Yes I agree, heat up to 180° then put the leaves or whatever in the water and let it just cool best to have a jar with a lid in a dark place.
It's a delicate balance for how much time. I don't like to heat the oil artificially so I use the sun. But not for to long
I use comfrey as fertilizer in my garden.
This is by far the best, the most informative and the easiest to understand presentation about the benefits ( and cautions) of comfrey oil. Thank you.
I found a bunch of this growing wild in my woods this morning. Can’t wait to use it!
I do blacksmihing allot and I use comfrey poultices to drawn out and heal some of the nastiest infections. Infact, comfrey is my goto when Neosporin or Bacitracin don't work. Been working on a salve but will try the one you made. Thanks! :)
Would you try it (comfrey) on a tooth abscess?
I got my comfrey many years ago at a master gardener sale. For many years I enjoyed the pretty bell shaped flowers. I just recently became aware of it's many benefits. I will still enjoy the flowers, though
Hi I would like to get some seed if you can spare. I have used wild teasel it has helped a lot with pain in the feet and joints
I grow cut flowers and this year used the beautiful blue and pink flowers in an arrangement as a filler. I will use it every year from now on, as the vase life is incredibly long! The comfrey stem blooms outlasted all the other flowers I used in the arrangement! Infact I still have them holding up in the vase 10 days after I made the arrangement! And only cut them back one time after about day 5!😊❤🎉 I also use the cut leaves as fertilizer. Both chop and drop and as a tea. Love this plant!
Yes. It's also one of the first things to flower in my garden and brings ALL the bees to the yard
I grow mine in a late water but. It’s very deep so it’s well contained, otherwise it’s gets out of control.
This is very good video… thank you,
fantastic info, great delivery
So happy I found you! New subscriber.Cheers from Australia.💚
My mother would make a tea for use to drink. Rabbit tobacco, too.
Rabbit tobacco, you are talking about mullien right. Yes very good for any respiratory illness.
Super helpful video, thanks.
Not me realizing this is what’s taking over the old flower bed behind our house 😱🤯
If you have time I would like to get some seed, plant or the leaves, root.
Thats awesome...
Thank you. This is exactly the content I was looking for

I feel incredibly lucky as I had Comfrey drop into my garden out of the sky! It self seeded here, so I'm just incredibly grateful for all the various plants around the garden. I do have a question... don't know if you would know the answer to this; Do you know if Comfrey is good (as a salve) for Arthritis?
It can sooth the ache. But if you also use broadleaf plantain and tumaric it will make a great salve for arthritis
I am going to need more of your comfrey salve soon. We use it quite a bit especially in the summer
To God be the glory #Doctorojie herbal medicine finally cured my herpes

Hope you mulched as the temps will be 28° tomorrow night
Very informative. Thank you!
Great video, super informative. Question: Would you used comfrey for Bursitis in the hip or shoulder areas? If so, how would you use it? Thanks
I have bursitis in both hips and both shoulders I would love to know if the Comfrey would be good to use for it , and how to use it
Hi from Terra Australis. Thanks for the priceless info,
If you don't mind what is the ratio of oil to bees wax?
Basix is 1 onz bees wax to 1 cup oil. But u can go more if you like. I use a bit more for a stiffer salve
@@GreenWitchHomestead
Great thanks for that. Just found your channel and looking forward to going through your vids. Cheers
Can I use the strained olive oil and dried comfrey straight from the bottle without making a salve on sore feet?
For my sore feet, I now fill my foot bath with water and put the comfrey in without drying it. I leave it on my deck and change it every other day. I feel like it works.
Yes, it just won't cling as well as a salve would.
Is comfrey the same as boneset?
No, comfrey is sometimes called nit bone.
Bonset is agueweed, feverwort, or sweating-plant. It is used the plant for breaking fevers. Not sure why it got the name boneset
I cut some root cuttings to give my neice, will that hurt it
Not at all.
Do you have to clean the leaves before hanging them to dry?
You can if you want. They usually won't need a cleaning
@@GreenWitchHomestead thank you
Please, how do I use comfrey root? My bones and teeth hurt a lot! Shall I boil it and drink it as tea?
No. Do not consume. Comfrey like I said in the video is applied topically. On the skin at the affected site.
Use the fresh leaves like a bandage or make the salve and massage it in.
Comfrey can not help with teeth pain. Try clove oil for that
Here’s How To Use Comfrey For Dental Inflammation
To use comfrey for dental problems:
Take a leaf of either dried or fresh comfrey and turn it into a chew. Folding the leaves inward will be more comfortable as the top of the prickly comfrey leaves can have quite a rough or spikey texture. The fresher upper leaves are often less hairy and very well tolerated in small amounts.
Roll the folded-up comfrey leaf around in your mouth, focusing on the particular area of concern while sucking on the juices this creates.
Leave the leaf chew on top of the cavity area for a while if you like as this will increase the amount of comfrey in contact with the inflamed area.
This process will assist the body to heal any abscesses, infection and inflammation. Most pain should be gone by the following day but you should repeat the process again in a few days anyway to be sure that it’s done it’s job.
Several people said that they boiled some Comfry tea and swished the tea around in their mouth for dental pain.
Different people and sites have said they drink the tea in moderation as with anything.
Thank you for your information. I purchased comfrey root from MRH. Do you think the dried root is stronger than the leaves? I used the root powdered to make a poultice. I found the root poultice to be less messy than the leaves. Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.
The root can be used I can't say they are stronger. The leaf is generally the one used because it's an easy grab and apply. No work required.
Hi! I used both the roots and the leaves for infusion. 🌹
We drank Comfrey Root Tea all the time growing up, so yes, you can't use the root to make a tea.
What if the place I could grow it was used as a garbage dump which is buried? Would the roots just pull up the toxic stuff thats doen there? Its bern buried for many years.
Probably. But If your garden is built over a landfill I think you have other issues
@@GreenWitchHomestead LOL for real! No, its not actually that, just people who didn't care and too tight to pay a garbage bill, back in the day, they just dumped their stuff out on the land! Its terrible, but not actually a landfill. I just know they were not into the environment at all, and now I gotta deal with it.
How do it taste
Bitter
Where can I buy the salve??
We are planing an over haul of our online sales as of right now I don't have a place to sell online
My ducks ate mine
Hope lol
Love it but the intro is very long...
Yes :) we have changed that now
True or Russian comfrey?
The medicinal properties are the same however I use the true comfrey as it self seeds
