- Out of all expat destinations, Nicaragua is surprisingly an excellent option that many don’t even have on their radar. Latin America is often deemed a region of corruption, crime and unsafety, but it comes with multiple hidden gems.
This part of the world has many favourable tax regimes, investment opportunities and places that cater to anyone’s liking. Whether you like the mountain or the sea, Latin America has you covered, boasting metropolises or laid-back villages. And Nicaragua isn’t an exception.
Nicaragua has undergone massive improvements to improve security for both residents and expats. Like anywhere in the world, being cautious and aware of your surroundings is crucial. However, many expats have found their homes in Nicaragua, living happy lives without any major safety concerns.
In this video, I'll break down everything you need to know about living in Nicaragua as an expat. Enjoy!

Thanks for this information!
I've been researching Nicaragua for a while now. Really considering moving my wife and I from BC, Canada to there. Just gotta sell our house and get a good sum of money together to buy a home and have some left over for investment purposes. I potentially may not need to work if our investments work out, but I really could use some advice on finding solid remote work
Thanks for watching!
This episode is a great starting point for anyone looking into remote work.

I got lucky with a job driving the us ambassador around making 24k a year .
What about rural property such as farms and ranches, not everyone wants to flop around on the beach
We just did a video with a lot of farmland tours in this video czcams.com/video/Xiwsbv9DW1s/video.htmlfeature=shared
Can you confirm that remote workers need to pay Income Tax in Nicaragua ?
I’m literally watching you read from a script. Who’s your writer?& wheres your fact sheet?
Haha. Who cares? No one but you I guess.
Does Nicaragua have a lower cost of living than Paraguay? Where will your money stretch further!
We have lived for 4 months in Nicaragua and moved to Paraguay - we have been here for 3 months. Paraguay is a lot cheaper than Nicaragua (cost of living, land) and also has a much better food & goods infrastructure. There are so many products here imported from the surrounding South American countries. We were amazed by the choice. Nicaragua is a stunning country but it's strangled by the US - you really only have local food and then outrageously expensive imported food from the US. Electricity is expensive - when you rent an AirBNB you pay extra for electricity if you want to have aircon. The decider for us though (we are looking for a country to permanently live in) was having to renew your cedula (resident card) every 6 months. Otherwise you need to do a border run every 3 months which could be a problem the way the world is! But the apart from all of the above the people here are so friendly, welcoming and kind. In Nica you are in an economy that will make you pay as a foreigner. Also wouldn't trust the people in charge either!
@@ADirtCheapLifeParaguay Thanks for answering my question. 🙋🏻♂️
Your welcome! We realised in our year of travel that it's hard to get on the ground nitty gritty info about places. Expat forums can sometimes be the worst source of info, and everyone is looking for something different! Check out our blog if you want any more info about the cost of living etc in Paraguay 😃
@@ADirtCheapLifeParaguay Have you been to Ecuador, that is another popular expat destination! Thoughts on Ecuador? 🇪🇨
@@ADirtCheapLifeParaguayUS is not strangling Nicaragua, your video is full of half truths and misinformation
