    There will never be another Datsyuk. He was so ahead of his time. I think it's fair to say that virtually ever player in the league today was inspired by him.

    I don’t think people realize how much Datsyuk changed the game. He was so creative and so many players tried to emulate that. He didn’t invent dangles, but nobody did it like him, especially in the early 2000s.

For all these ridiculous highlights Datsyuk has, his backchecking and presence on defense was ridiculous. The best 2-way forward in the game for so many years. McDavid, for as good as a player as he is, just doesn't have that same kind of 2-way presence...but he's also still super young so who knows what he becomes.

    Man, growing up a Pens fan during those mid-late 2000s meant that Datsyuk was up there in the public enemy rankings, between the back to back cup appearances, not to mention everyone's hands were always being compared to his. So as a kid you try to reject him to pump up your team, because of course when you're young your guys are always best (to be fair, they've been pretty damn good)! But as an adult, good god what a special player, It's not just how silky, talented, every other superlative in the book he was, but how fun he must have been to watch game in and game out. He made the sport better by being part of it.

      @@123hockey9 i would actually argue hes more of complete player than those guys, they probably are more skilled in some aspects which makes them better but datsyuk had selkes lady byngs cups led the league in takeaways almost every year and a career +249, no matter the situation you could rely on him and look at when all these goals are scored, close games in the third when they matter not blowout games just when they need him.

    • @123hockey9

      @Joshua Polak
      Datsyuk’s ability to excel in his strengths such as dangling and making smart moves may make specific people feel that he is better than everyone which is understandable, but you have to understand, crosby is in my opinion the smartest and strongest hockey player (in terms of his core and base). you can’t take the puck from him. McDavid and MacKinnom have unbelievable speed and snap shot abilities, and do i even need to comment on players like bobby orr, gretzky, or lemieux? in conclusion, datsyuk is a strong player with unbelievable stickhandling and deceptive ability, but he is far from the best of all time. please keep in mind that i dont dislike you for having an opinion but i am just letting you know mine.
