    Excellent ... but...
    Adding putty to fill in manufacturer holes, like the hole right under the slide by the front muzzle... sanding the fill and then painting over that, that would've added more realism.
    Plus... Adding $25 real wood 1911 grips (with new unpainted grip screws) would really make the gun 'pop'.
    And many real 1911 guns actually use plastic grips... so installing any grips (either $25 real wood ones or $15 plastic ones) will look great.
    And not having the grips painted will again, make this final conversion look the best it possibly could.

    Try using a gloss black, the graphite powder makes it really shine.

      Good idea. However I was going for a lif accurate steel look. Which would have some gloss toned back a little bit. I wanted to avoid too much shine, but both options work well.

    Dude, this is exactly what I was looking for. I’m going to a convention as the merchant from RE4 and I’m looking to paint a bunch of Adventure Force toy guns, but I had no idea how to go about it. This was pretty much the method I was thinking of doing, but I really had no clue how to do the worn edges and stuff.
    I actually did Spike from Cowboy Bebop last year and I did a quick and crappy spray paint job on an Adventure Force “Falcon” (basically a 1911), so its green is starting to show around the edges and it NEEDS a repaint lol.

    So if I wanted it a golden color (Not yellow, golden, glowly kinda gold) Would I do it before or after the granite part (If I do it)

    • @anakinmonkey
      @anakinmonkey  Před 7 měsíci +1

      for that its a bit different. The graphite is specific to a gun metal grey finish. If you wanted a gold plated look. I would either just use a metallic gold spray paint on top of a gloss black. Or if there is gold graphite powder you can experiment with that. I assuming youre going for the classic COD gold camo, in which case id reccomend sanding the prop down, priming, hitting it with a gloss black, then a metaillic gold that dosent clash. Rustolleum us a good brand for rattle cans

    Only thing that sucks is the sliding mechanism doesn’t slide back when shot so it make it look less real in short or homemade film
