tbh if partey left lavia would not be a good enough replacement. he’s too young to take on that responsibility imo. if partey went i would only want caicedo to replace him. able to play cdm, cm, and right back (as partey has recently) and an absolutely elite tackler and ball progresser.

Surprised you didn't mention possible depth for Saliba after the fall off they had in the run in without him. It would be a disaster to go into next season with Rob Holding and Tomiyasu is constantly injured. I hope they get Simakan from RB Leipzig or josip sutalo from Dinamo Zagreb.

There's many things they have to build upon next season. Losing Tierney(who barely played) and Pepe(out on loan and sucked) are not one of them

I’d like to see Arsenal keep Tierney. Just adds something a little different to the mix.

I don't think Arteta will do this, but I would rather go in for Guerreiro from Dortmund on a free instead of Cancelo. He is more like Zinchenko. He can even play midfield like Zinchenko and either could move into that role as well. I would then slot Rice into #6 and bring in Havertz in the Xhaka role. Rice gives the ability to have two attacking free 8's and Havertz is misunderstood as he played as a free 8 at Leverkusen to great effect. I do expect Partey and Xhaka to both leave. So rice and Havertz will need to come in. If Arsenal can't get Havertz then we need one more and you either go with a Caicedo/Lavia to join Rice or you go to a more typical 8. The reason Arsenal need to go Havertz however is that the squad does not have any player profile like him. Arteta historically favors versatile players who can play in multiple positions so he can change tactics. So all of these players fit what we are trying to do. If Arsenal can get both Rice and Havertz it is an absolute dream window and the squad will go next level.

I think Zinchenko is a much better central midfielder than Cancelo, but there's a lot of random wow moments Cancelo creates with his passing
Probably:
* Rice = Midfield replace Partey (100m)
* Kavertz = Offence replace Xhaka (60m)
* Timber/someone else? = Defence replace Tierney (40m)
Total = 200m
Probably another signing eg Lavia or someone to bulk out midfield. No idea what they're doing with Balogun?

they will probably try to sign two midfielders as Partey also wants to leave now, they probably want Havertz to be that backup right winger to Saka, Cancelo to Arsenal would be huge if it happens.

Havertz will change when facing a more attacking opponents as I do think Partey could go and hopefully they bring more in to replace and add to the depth.
I'd like to see Havertz, Rice, Cancelo and Olise. And if Partey leaves Caicedo or Lavia.
We cant loose xhaka and partey as this will leave our midfield without experienced and i think jorginho might keave

I only hesitate re Cancelo. Not your explanation of his abilities and usecase for Arteta and Arsenal, that much is clear as you well illustrated. You won't be surprised though that my problem is predominantly his alleged attitude. (I'm not sure what Cancelo's problem is. It might even be a Pep problem! Not everybody can handle the pressure of a guy like that, and you don't have to be dysfunctional to get overwhelmed by the Guardiola archetype. It may be instead that the players who DO stick around are just exceptionally capable of sacrificing sanity for greatness rather than testimony that the ones who get bounced have below average character or fortitude. It's probably like working for Steve Jobs in the late '90s and early 00s, maybe. [actually that's a pretty good analog for Pep!])
But it might very well be Cancelo's problem, and i don't think Arteta suffers undisciplined or unruly or unwilling players well. Even if he wanted to take on the hassle i think Arteta seems to put priority value on harmony in the squad, as a philosophy. Thankfully there are plenty of players in the sea that might be 90-95% of the Cancelos of the world, and when you have a renowned coach like artana you can bank on him getting the most out of almost any player. That bit is one of Arteta's superpowers, i think. So, i'll always bet on him in that regard, as he's proven it beyond a doubt at both that city and at Arsenal.
