  • This video is an introduction for those considering building experimental aircraft kits that require solid rivet fasteners. Many high performance homebuilt aircraft require the skills for installing these rivets utilizing rivet guns and other tools (for dimpling, countersinking). This is the first video in a sequence providing demonstrations showing the efforts required for riveting a homebuilt aircraft.

    Tap once from inside the aircraft meant hit it again, twice was a good one and three taps followed by a F bomb meant drill it out and do it again.

    Hi sir, I find all this practical knowledges are crucial , I studied structure repair at airbus hélicoptèr but I have long time don't practice !! I like this job, please I want also a video about high lock rivet and where we use this différents rivet because it's not easy except for the critical éléments on hélicoptère or plane.
    Best regards

    I am working on a hobby project with military spec aluminum rivets, 1/8" diameter with 100 degree flush mount. I am running into an issue, I have a mushroom head and a 2 lb bucking bar held in hand not a vise, but I cannot set the rivet. It will not compress the rivet. Do I not have enough air power? Or is the zip gun not powerful enough for heat treated aluminum rivets? I am using my grandpa's old Chicago Pneumatics zip gun: CP711. Looking to fasten two 1/8" aluminum plates together. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    At about 0:41, there is a rivet set with what appears to be a micro-stop type of guide being used on the shop-side of the rivet along a row on the table. Who makes that rivet set and are they still available?

    These aluminum rivets are quite different from steel rivets. You use a lot lighter tool. Iron work it is a ball-peen hammer. So I wonder if I could use a air hammer?

    • @Fucknuts4u
      @Fucknuts4u Před 3 lety

      You do NOT use a ball peen hammer to do riveting.

    How much for rivets hammer (price)

      You can buy an air hammer used for $10 but if you get an actual rivet gun like an Ingersoll Rand AVC-12 it'll be over $100 used. You definitely want an actual rivet tool.
