I think most of these people were sociopaths rather then psychopaths. I notice that a lot of them also seem to worry about themselves more than their victims. A.k.a they were crying and worrying over killing themselves and making themselves kind of the center of attention when it came to the 911 calls instead of worrying about the victim. The calmness is because of a lack of emotion. A lack of empathy. It's hard to feign that you're a human being when the jig is up. I'm not a psychologist though.

Two men were hunting deer together. One man passes out, and the other calls the police. Once a woman from the police department picks up the phone, he says to her “Ma’am, my friend has passed out while we were hunting and I don’t think he is breathing.” After some typing noises, the operator says “Can you make sure he isn’t breathing? You may need to start CPR.” A second later, the operator hears a gun shot ring out over the phone. The man replies “Yes. He is not breathing, and now I’m sure of it.”

As a 911 operator myself, these videos stress me out because every department is trained differently, and sometimes they handle calls in a way I learned is incorrect. But yes- it takes a special breed to answer these calls, and we're trained to stay calm. After awhile of taking calls, they become procedure. It's easy to "turn off" , go into work mode, and take the calls, it's not until after the call ends that you have an emotional response.
