You are too cute! I love how gushy you get about this plant. About a month ago, my husband was traveling for work and on his flight back home from Florida, he bought me one of these from the airport because he said that he remembered that I always said that I wanted a palm. I know that something you buy from an airport isn’t going to be the “best of the best”, but I definitely love my plant, especially since my husband gave it to me with love. I have been noticing that a few fronds (is that the right word?) have gotten brown and crispy, but I have seen some new shoots popping up too, but some seem dry. I have been watering weekly (that’s when I notice the soil dries). Is that from watering issues? Light issues? Or is it from potting issues because I haven’t repotted mine from its original pot? (Original pot is a square plastic cheap thing). I am so envious of how beautiful yours are and want mine to end up thriving and looking beautiful like yours!

Hi there! I am leaning toward repotting with new soil mix, it may be that current soil is your issue. Also place her in an area where she gets bright light to encourage new growth. Try that and see how she responds. Hope it helps.😀🪴

Yes, she should bounce back if you have some green. But keep as many fronds that have some green on them, don't cut those, she needs extra help in Photosynthesis. Allow the soil to dry out before you water again. If roots or soil has a rotten smell, they you have root decay and will need to trim away dead roots (soggy squishy roots that break apart easy) . It's a tricky process though, hope this helps😀🪴

Hi, I'm sorry if you cut her that tall segment of trunk will die. Palms are monocots and don't typically branch out when are cut midway through the trunks. Best way is to encourage new baby shoots is propagation. Remove the tall trunks but keep any trunks 6' or less and repot entire palm with the new custom potting soil. Hi there, sorry about your pest problems. First move your palm away from any other indoor house plants you may have. Step 2- try knocking any visible bugs off palm fronds by with spray nozzle from sink or shower (tepid water). Tilt your palm sideways and rotate as you spray leafs to knock off any bugs. Then get an insectictal soap or neem oil spray and apply to palm per directions. Reapply the spray in two 4 day intervals, ( 8 days total) to break the reproduction cycles of any of the bugs ( maybe you have thrips, ahids, white fly spidermites etc). Hope this is helpful and good luck getting your parlor back to full health! 😀🪴

I too have not had much success growing majesty indoors as a house plant or even outdoors for that matter, they are heavy H20 drinkers and if grown indoors, they need a lot of light. I also had mites with majesty indoors, so I would avoid her as a house plant. Now, I have had success growing ( parlors ) + Areca palms indoors, they are tough. I also like Kentia palms, super elegant palm, but are very expensive. On any palm growing indoors watch out for Spider mites ! Mealy bugs and scale are sometimes a problem, but spider mites are more of a problem I have found for palms (also for crotons). You can also try pony tail palms (not a palm, but have a palm like appearance) they are super tough. Hope this helps😀🪴
