There are 3 powerful Google Flights tips we always use to save money on flights, which is what I consider one of the best flight booking websites in existence.
In this video, I’ll not only show you how to find cheap flights on Google Flights, but also a couple other tricks to potentially knock prices down even further.
Note on the VPN trick - this can be hit or miss. VPNs are better at getting cheap hotel deals than cheap flights, but once in a while you’ll stumble on a huge discount.
I’ve found that it works more often when searching for local flights in another country while you’re currently located in a different country (ex. Searching for flights between 2 Colombian cities while in the US).
It also sometimes works to simply switch the language and/or currency when searching on an airline’s website, but it depends on the airline/website.
In this Google Flights tutorial, I show you exactly how to find cheap airfare…but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. If you want to know how to find the cheapest flights possible, you need to understand the “big picture” of booking cheap flights…
Like when to book, how far in advance to search, and how to use aviation laws and airline policies to your advantage.

Heyo! Mitch and Day here 👋🏼
We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes 💃🏻. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married 👰🏻🤵🏼
Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online 👨💻👩💻

Thank you for this amazing content and helpful tips. The background looks awesome 😎
Very helpful and clear: thanks
One warning if you book with a travel website! If there is an issue with your flight, the airline will not help you if you booked your ticket with a third-party travel site. The airline will refer you back to the travel site for assistance. If you're in a foreign country, it may be harder to contact the travel site due to the time difference. Pay the extra cost and book directly with the airline! I had a nightmare experience and I will never book through a travel site again. The few dollars I saved booking through a travel site was not worth the headache I faced when something went wrong.
Thanks bro
United, not my favorite sold a ticket. Worked out great. Bookers error. Cancelled. Then my card company worked it out. No slam dunk. But o k
Rare chance.. but may happen

How cheaper is Google flights than Kayak or Skyscanner?
The question is where to set your VPN location to get the cheapest flight.

Wish we could do this with award flights
Change of subject. Have you ever flown with Korean Airlines? How big is the underseat space
Hmm...possibly, but I can't really remember. I asked Gemini and this is what it said 🤓:
The under-seat storage space on Korean Airplanes varies depending on the aircraft type and the specific seat.
In general, the space is around 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) high, 16 to 18 inches (40 to 45 cm) wide, and 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) deep. However, it is always best to check the seat map for the specific flight you are interested in to get the most accurate information.
Here are some links to the seat maps of Korean Air's most popular aircraft:

It is important to note that the space under the seat in front of you may be occupied by the life vest or other safety equipment. You should also be aware that some airlines may not allow you to store certain items under the seat, such as fragile items or large electronics.
Will this work on my cell phone or hasta be a computer?
Should work on your phone as well, but there is currently no app, so you'd have to use the normal flights website. It's a lot easier to do stuff on a computer if possible though.
Bro u r best traveller also good teacher
Is it possible to get cheap flights with my 2 23kgs
Nice background, greetings form the hub
I never put luggage in the hold but they always charged me.
It's all fine and dandy if you don't care about where to go to. Choose the cheapest destination on the map and you're good to go. How about if i wanna travel to a country with a hefty price tag?
use Technique #2! (Or points/miles if possible)
@@ProjectUntetheredthe problem with this is it’s hard to earn points and miles. One day the cheapest flight may be United, then American, then Delta. It’s hard to earn loyalty when you’re ONLY basing your search on cost alone.
I'd prefer not to fly with Norse, Play. While their base fares are inexpensive, once you factor in additional costs like luggage, carry-on, and seat selection, the total expense ends up being comparable to a full-service airline.
This is wrong. America to Mumbai shows less than $400
Wow, I found cheap flights to destinations that I did not think I could afford.
Just like this: For my route (Europe to Africa, usually three stops, different possibilities based on earlier research) Google Flights doesn't even give results. ;-)
Update: I think I know why this is so - apparently, G. F. can't acceed to the data of all the small airlines.
It can alo be helpful to do a Google search for the budget airlines that operate in a certain country. Sometimes the small local ones don't always show up on Google Flights
@@ProjectUntethered Yes, obviously, even if the airline operating precisely 2 (!) aircraft is registered in the EU! ^^
Isn’t this all normal?
surely not sposered
I have yet see cheaper prices using a VPN. Could I be doing something wrong?
I've found it works better with some airlines than others. Seems to work more often in Latin America. It also seems to work more often when you're searching for a domestic flight outside of your country. For example, searching for a local flight between 2 Colombian cities while inside the US. This is the example I showed on the screen, but this is only helpful in certain situations. Also make sure to clear your cookies/cache before switching the VPN to a different country!
Your background looks unreal but I see I'm wrong, it's Hoi An, there's a motorcycle crossing the rice field 😄
Haha yup you guessed it. So pretty here - have you been?
yeah! I was living in Da Nang in 2020, I visited Hoi An several times. In 2 months I'll be back in Da Nang 😎@@ProjectUntethered
So awesome! I'd like to come back in the future and spend more time in Da Nang - it seems super nice!
@@ProjectUntethered definitely worth it, I'll fly from Guatemala to Vietnam, just to have a good time there, at least 3 months 🤙🏽🇻🇳
Wow, that is quite the journey! I hope you have a blast!
These are not tricks but simply google flights features....
I like your content but I find it cheaper at Expedia.
Do you normally book directly with the airline? Or through Expedia?
Is it safe?
oh yes I've been doing w them for over ten years now@@dpoca
This isn’t strategy. You’re just using google. This is just a tutorial of the website….
All this doesn't help the majority of people who have FIXED dates and FIXED locations
Yeah, that makes things a lot tougher. If you're from the US/Canada, I'd recommend taking advantage of travel credit card sign up bonuses to build up points/miles, then using those to buy the flights.
Not perfect but kayak is way better
Why do you say that?
@@ProjectUntethered more search options. And it feels like the prices are slightly better
63 bucks to Miami??? Americans are so lucky!! 😊❤
Where are you from? 😂america has some of the most expensive flights I’ve ever seen. Flights in the EU are like $15
@@Tyler-mp7khJust say you're broke if 63$ is breaking the bank for you 🤡
Skyscanner is much cheaper.
Not much new stuff compared to your old video
He's just putting up content for the sake of content. This is NOTHING new.
Maybe there are new viewers/non-subscribers who never saw his other video. I don’t see any problem with it.
A lot of it is the same, but there are some new features. Plus the other video is 2+ years old, so not many newer viewers are seeing it (as @dotted8 mentioned 😇). But I am actually really honored that you remembered a video that I published 2 years ago! ❤️
@@ProjectUntethered And moreover, especially in this sector, a viewer might not watch a 2-year-old video because he fears outdated info that might cause him problems during his travel. Same situation with "cost of living" videos - if they're older than half a year nowadays, you can use them as a basic orientation at most.
That's exactly what I was thinking! Yeah that's very true about cost of living videos. They can be super helpful, but the shelf life doesn't last long.
Kiwi is 10,000x better
Pretty funny that you start with the biggest airports that have a million flights a day from everywhere
