They came in knowing kratos' cultural standards for sacred hospitality. A guest with a gift cannot be refused under such circumstances
I dont think, in the moment, hospitality really matter to Kratos. I think it was more: "Id rather not fight but I will...if the moment calls for it"
@@marethyu_primo7638 Sacred Hospitality was paramount to Spartan Customs. He initially said he would not be good company but could not refuse a guest who had brought gifts and wished to speak. It influenced him to be sure, even if he was still being pragmatic.

Odin was so good at manipulation that he literally manipulated most of the viewers here. This was a terrible deal. A) By Odin forcing peace with Freya it would have shown Freya that he and Kratos were working together. She never would’ve trusted/forgiven Kratos if that had happened. B) Kratos would’ve driven a wedge between himself and Atreus if he didn’t let him continue to search for his identity. This would’ve forced Atreus to secretly go to someone else for answers: Odin. Had Kratos taken this deal he would’ve lost his two greatest allies. “If he tells you the snow is white, he’s lying.” Even when telling the truth, Odin is deceiving you in a way you don’t understand.
Nice attention to detail there. Odin is quite known to be an immense manipulator in Norse myth. He’s not like your stereotypical bulked up deep voiced god like Zeus , he’s “normal” looking , yet has a scary reputation on his name, he’s cunning , unlike the usual loud mouthed villain always demanding everything , he is still a dominant force but not particularly clamorous about it. & not only is he shown to be a potent fighter but also has tremendous magics , considering the fact he’s the god of that concept & whatnot. Odin is quite an interesting deity honestly, there’s so much to him.
@@zazaholiccTrue, guys like Odin are even worse than Zeus because they can defeat you easily if you are all brawn and no brains. Just look at Thor.
@@animefever3970 you are right indeed 💯 , Odin literally is both a god of war & magic so he can fight the opponent physically , mentally & thru power only with his charms & magics. & also all of his 18 charms counter all of Zeus’ attacks for example immunity to projectiles & lightning attacks , meaning it makes Odin immune to Zeus’ thunderbolt , & Odin also has an overwhelming amount of buffs from his charms as well. Gods like Thor , Anubis from Egypt mythos & Indra from Hindu are better accurate opponents for someone like Zeus to be honest. Odin is leagues above those gods.
I think one of the most interesting things in terms of reactions is always too Thor's size. Everyone is always like "oh my God hes so big" When they forget that Kratos has fought a lot of things that are insurmountably bigger but then I think it has to do with the fact that it's not only the fact that Thor is bigger than Kratos it's also that just like him he carries a presence but is way larger than just his physical stature. Kratos is the god slayer. Thor is the giant slayer. In many ways they are equals as they are not.

Thor killed Kratos, brought him back to life and went "heh heh, nice job kiddo" pulled a tooth and left.
I mean, by humanoid standarts Kratos is pretty tall, so seing how Thor is even bigger than him is quite shocking

I found this out from a video but you can see how annoyed thor is with odin drinking right infront of him, then we find out thor has drinking problem later on, thats just brutal.
also notice Odin slams the mug in front of him because "He's no fun when he doesn't drink." Odin's horribleness is just subtle enough to make you lower your guard.
on a second viewing, there's a lot of examples of Odin being shitty to Thor, calling his sons useless, saying he's no fun anymore after quitting drinking etc.
He overreached by mentioning Freya. I don't think anybody else caught that. I think Kratos would have been down for any of what he said, nevermind his gangster like demeanor(cus fuck em). But the moment he mentioned Freya, taking responsibility for another person like they're property. And the way he put down his own grandkids at the beginning, in hindsight of all that...just makes him sound worse. Uh uh. That's way past overstepping.

I absolutely love Thor and the fact that Ryan Hurst plays him made me not wanna fight Thor I wanted more than anything for kratos and Thor to team up which they technically did before Odin killed Thor.

That is exactly what he wants you to think. It's a facade so that people would feel safe around him and he can use them in whatever way he wants. By thinking that he's just some old drunk Santa, you fall right into his palms where he can play with you like a pawn, break you in two if he wants to. Thor didn't obey him and look at what happened.

We didn't have that much of an advanced civilisation at this time (Asgard in this game might give you a hint) He look's like this because this is how it looked like back then or almost. A classic medieval tunic and dress and capes and cloaks was what people were wearing. You are taking it for granted that gods and leaders must be big and strong or give the impression of might.
