    For my daughter, we are staying with Masterbooks, for my son, I am doing Good and the Beautiful LA, handwriting, and Science units for both kids. For my son's math, I am going with Masterbooks. This will be our second year of homeschooling for 2021/2022 school year.

  • @HerChildrenCallHerBlessed

    We had a struggle with math too! Finally landed on Teaching textbooks. We are also switching to MFW for the first time. And this year I'll be schooling 5 with 2 tag alongs! I'm overwhelmed thinking about it.🤣

    • @anydayblessings2354
      @anydayblessings2354  Před 3 lety

      I should probably look at TT again. I mainly didn't want it because my son does not like to do math online. He prefers colorful workbooks.
      I actually have MFW on my radar for the first time, too. I think I can do ECC with both my kids in the 21-22 school year. But that's so far away, I can change my mind a lot by then!

    • @anydayblessings2354
      @anydayblessings2354  Před 3 lety +2

      Yay! I hope you have a sweet first year. I always suggest keeping that first year super simple. If you can, I suggest a complete package from one place that plans everything out for you. I know that is cost prohibitive for some families, but it takes so much off your plate during that first year. You can then just focus on learning to be teacher-mom while your kiddos adjust, too. You don't have to stick with that choice after the first year if you find it wasn't a fit, but I do think a complete package is the most beneficial to a new homeschooling family. :)

    Can’t wait for curriculum videos. They’re my favorite. 🥰 I have everything picked, but I shop little by little til I have everything. That way I don’t break the bank all in one month.
    Might I encourage you with your math curriculum situation? As a former elementary teacher, it can be a big challenge for kids that move around a lot (ie. change curriculum multiple times) to get settled into subjects (especially math) because each curriculum has a different style and scope/sequence and even vocabulary. I would highly encourage you to either stay with BJU for at least another year and see if there’s good progression there OR switch back to the Singapore style that he’s previously familiar with. If you change to now a third different program, the same issue might happen as this year because the style, scope/sequence etc will be different for that program too. Just a thought. 😊
    Happy curriculum shopping!♥️

      I've been thinking the same things about math. That is why I send CTC Math back right away. I didn't want to start something else that wasn't what we wanted. I am thinking we stick with one of the two we've had and add to it. Now, just to decide which of the two to stick with, lol. I appreciate your insight. :)

      @@anydayblessings2354 Haha! We are really excited about BJU English 2 for next year. If I hadn’t started my daughter in Math U See in Kindergarten, I probably would choose BJU Math. She would probably like the look of it better. Sometimes she just looks so bored with her math papers since they’re just black and white, but I remind both of us that its about the math, not about the beautiful pictures. 😂 At least with BJU Bible and English she’ll get pretty pages. 👍🏻

    The biggest thing I’m stuck on is if I should enroll my kids in a charter school vs continue “traditional” homeschool. It would be great to get our curriculum paid for but then that means it has to be secular. We currently use TGATB for LA and MB for science so we couldn’t use that again. We also use Saxon for math and Bookshark for history, so we could continue those. I see pros and cons for both!!

    • @anydayblessings2354
      @anydayblessings2354  Před 3 lety

      That's a tough one. I do like being able to pick my curriculum. :) The nice thing is that the two you mentioned are very affordable, even free in the case of TGTB. Hopefully, that helps some for you. We don't have a charter homeschool option here. I don't know what we'd decide if that was an option.

    I'm torn as well. My 4th grade son did BJU Distance Learning English 4 and Math 5 this school year. I have been prayerfully considering switching to Masterbooks for him. Cost is a big consideration, as well as the time we spend on school per day. My kindergartner did Masterbooks level 1 this year and did great. My 4th grader tests into level 6 in Masterbooks. Oh.. what to do?

    • @anydayblessings2354
      @anydayblessings2354  Před 3 lety

      We used both those courses too and found it tricky to switch over to MB at that level. I can't seem to find the right place to move him in English so that's why we've stayed with BJU. I really wanted to use MB for LA but we just couldn't find our place there "midstream". Same for math. My son actually tests into their jr high Principles of Math course! I don't think we're truly ready for that, but that's where he places. I don't feel comfortable with moving up that much so math is still undecided.

      Look at the Passport to the US course from MB for your history/social studies. The littles love maps and they can each get their own passport. I think that would be the easiest thing to combine those ages. There is also a passport to the world course if you'd prefer that. When the MB Academy gets up and running more, you could perhaps have your older kiddo listen to the America's Story course being read aloud (follow along) while you do My Story with your two littles.
