There are so many great Queen tracks that it's hard to narrow them down! If you want rockers, there are Brighton Rock, Stone Cold Crazy, Liar, Tie Your Mother Down, Headlong, and Dead On Time. If you want feel-good songs, there are Spread Your Wings, Hammer To Fall, You're My Best Friend, Need Your Loving Tonight, and Keep Yourself Alive. If you want poignant ballads, there are Love Of My Life, Is This The World We Created, Too Much Love Will Kill You, Save Me, and The Show Must Go On. There are also complex arrangements like Innuendo, March Of The Black Queen, and The Prophet's Song. So many to pick from!

One of my absolute favorite Queen songs. Add to that "Killer Queen", Keep Yourself Alive" and "You're My Best Friend". You're right to point out that it's not just Freddie that's talented. Every band member, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, is amazing.

So glad to see you've decided to give Queen a chance. They're unique in a number of ways, some of which the fans have already mentioned ( same 4 for 20 years, all wrote hit songs, etc.) but I think they mainly stand out for two reasons. They didn't produce mere 'songs', they produced theatre. Each song is a bit of a musical journey that you normally only find in theatrical productions. But with Queen you get them for a continuous 2-3 hours, in a concert. The other thing they did that was so different is that each member put their heart and soul into every single piece they did on stage. One of the best examples of their dedication and amazing talent is in this particular live piece called "Liar". Each of the members is featured, one after the other. They're mesmerizing to watch. Stone Cold Crazy would be a good one for your Queen journey. Queen was my first concert at age 17 in 1982. It was one of the last times they played a live concert in the US. Lucky me, had no idea what greatness I was experiencing but I knew I loved it!! Then we were beside their limos on our way home after the concert. We had hung out and got something to eat to let traffic die down so it was about 1:00 or 1:30 in the morning. We pulled up to a red light next to these gorgeous black limos and we knew it had to be them. I was on the passenger side, hanging out the window with my just purchased Queen concert Tshirt waving it and screaming we just saw you! We love Queen!! Lol! Brian May rolled his window down and smiled and waved at us. Freddie was sitting on the farthest side from me and kept his head down. Not rudely but more in a shy way. It was incredible! They were so close, if Brian had reached his arm out, I could have touched him. This was my 1st concert!! Talk about beginner’s luck!! We stayed behind them on the interstate for about 30 minutes until they took an exit in the middle of nowhere. (This was on the Mississippi gulf coast) They were probably staying in some private mansion out in the country. I will never forget that experience and still have my ticket stub. Enjoy your Queen journey!! Just throw a dart to pick a song, they’re all great!! Thanks for your reactions, I really enjoy them!

It is deadly good and the instrumental portion of this song will blow the socks right off of your feet.

On a Queen quest, be prepared for a Rock Band to go from one genre to another. You'll get rock, prog rock, glam rock, a version of speed metal, music hall, ballads, odes, shanty, pop, jazz, blues, rock-a billy, operetta, funk, disco, stadium rock, arena rock. You'll get The Works, (& it all works). Same four guys (Freddie, Brian, Roger & John) had different musical tastes and they got to explore them. Enjoy!

Spectacular! Buckle up, you are in for an epic ride! Brian May made his guitar with his dad from things they had around the house: the neck was made from a 200-year-old fireplace mantle, motorbike parts, an old oak table, saddlebag holder, etc. Check out some of their early stuff like my fairy king, ogre battle (live at the odeon hammersmith), father to son and flick of the wrist live at the rainbow, the prophet's song, let me entertain you live in Tokyo, etc.

The next song you should do is Love of my life the live one in Montreal, because Freddie Mercury wrote that song for the woman he was going to marry, but it never happened she did still with him ( The movie was wrong on that part) & he had a good heart and Queen never broke up. There are a lot of songs by Queen we don’t know it’s by them

  • @LMTino

Queen is the killer box of assorted chocolates from which you can barely choose which to have first. But they REALLY have it all, so you can take your time and SAMPLE. I don't think there is a style they did not touch, incl. retro Their set on Live Aid is the no frills sampler. Don't miss their early blitz for a shocker (Cold Stone Crazy Live at the Rainbow, 1974) and stunner (White Queen Live at the Hammersmith). But remember too the Freddie ballads...Save Me (Montreal), Too Much Love Will Kill You (video), Who Wants to Live Forever (Budapest)... Then there's his tribute to Aretha Franklin, Somebody to Love (Montreal/perfection; Milton Keynes/passion). Go the distance.

While he's not the most technically perfect guitarist, IMO Brian May manages to convey emotion in his playing that always goes deep into my heart. He has said in interviews it is his very purpose to use his music to capture the emotions of the song.. BTW, Brian has a PhD in astrophysics (from Imperial College in London), and wrote a song about time travel called "39". It's about how time changes at/near the speed of light...and a space ship that returns from a mission finds that everyone on Earth is many times older than when they left. As a space geek, I especially like this song.

You have to start with Bohemian Rhapsody video. Epic, unbelievable and pure rock and roll. And the best part is the man, Freddie Mercury! Rest in Peace, Freddie darlin' !

I would like you to react to the studio versions of Millionaire Waltz, The March of the Black Queen, The Prophets song, Flick of the Wrist, Death on Two Legs, Ogre Battle, Keep Yourself Alive, Good Company, Mustapha, & Liar, to start. Two reasons. Their Catalog is so huge. Many of their early songs. Get shortened for time. When performed in concert / live. Second. They experimented with sound extensively in the studio. Live versions sound just as good, but completely different. Especially true concerning early Queen. Also checkout studio versions of 39, Someday One Day, All Dead All Dead, or Sleeping on the Sidewalk. If you want to hear Brian May ( guitarist ) sing lead. In concert he preferred to let his guitar do the talking. He would provide backing vocals. Letting Fred sing his songs live. Both Roger, & Brian sang lead. On at least one song per album.

LOVE Queen! They are so diverse with their music style! Check out March of the Black Queen from the Queen llAlbum- very unique and classic prog-rock! They also did the soundtrack to the cult movie Flash Gordon! Check out the song Flash!

Please, please don't stop with their top40 anthems! The Album deep-cuts is where they really shine! March of the Black Queen, Prophet's song, anything off their first five.... then Innuendo is a must! And btw Roger and Brian hated the song for a long time, because basically it's Freddie's "very naughty boy song" where he celebrates the lifestyle that ultimately Killed him. He's even wearing a "mineshaft" t-shirt. Mineshaft being a VERY hardcore gay club in N.Y. which he loved. Not for the fainthearted.

👍🙏 Nice ! If i were You i would go the other direction - and listen to Innuendo masterpiece ( off the last album) as that would give You a head spin for a while, would also let You understand how crazy diverse they are.
