I'm just a "fake plastic" swedish Liverpool fan since 1977 but I must say that the club and much so Kenny Dalglish have given me so much over the years. I don't think that many people over the years have deserved the title "Sir" than him! Such an intelligent player, such a good manager, such a humane and great person! One of my strongest memories of him actually comes from a radio broadcast in 1986 when he scored the decisive goal against Chelsea that sealed the championship that time. Kenny Dalglish, what a name, what a legend!!

Yeah im from liverpool, and I can understand the argument about plastic fans but at the same time, by that logic only the 50,000 fans who can get tickets are liverpool fans.
I get the plastic fan tag many times online. I'm from India and travel every year a couple of times to Anfield to watch Liverpool. I've even travelled to other countries to watch them, got a stone at Anfield, got a LFC tattoo and made it my life's constant. I couldn't ever connect to a local club which has sprung up in the last few years. I tried but I couldn't. It was like choosing someone over your parents. I wonder Sometimes what else I can do to not be a 'plastic' but it won't cut me off Liverpool!

I am an staunch Evertonian but Kenny Dalglish is one of the greatest footballers i have ever seen respect.
The effort he puts in behind the scenes is unbelievable. He helped the families of the 96,and is on call for Liverpool whenever needed. King Kenny is on another level as a human being. Deserves every plaudit that comes his way. We need 2 statues outside anfield Klopp and KK. YNWA

The club's internal managerial structures from the boardroom down have been among the cornerstones of their resilience. They bring a new manager in, he makes progress, and they give him time to build. Roy Evans was given 4 years. He did well initially, but couldn't quite get them to the next level, and he left the club on good terms with all concerned. Gerard Houllier was given 6 years. He didn't do badly, but started losing momentum, and also eventually left on good terms with everybody at the club. Same with Rafa Benitez. Finally, Klopp comes along and takes a few years to finally climb to the top of the mountain. It was possible only because of the club's internal boardroom culture - THE CLUB GAVE THE MANAGER TIME, LIKE THEY ALWAYS HAVE.
When Liverpool did finally win the championship again after 30 years, ALL of those former managers
- Daglish, Souness, Evans, Houllier, Benitez, Hodgson, Rodgers - they were ALL treated as if they were still members of the Liverpool family. No manager has ever parted company with the club in acrimony.
But this fundamental decency in the club's internal managerial culture, which always treats the manager fairly and gives him the time he needs, is definitely one of the reasons why Liverpool remained an institution in the English game, and was always liable to bounce back in spite of the club's financial disadvantages compared to the likes of Man U, Man City and Chelsea.
In other words, the key to Liverpool's resilience is that Liverpool has never been run like Chelsea.
A lot of people in other countries overlook the point that Liverpool's financial disadvantages are the direct result of the economic shrinkage of the city of Liverpool itself starting from the de-industrialization of the 1980's. Liverpool has the infrastructure for 2 million people, but a population of only half a million people. That's a result of 1980's Thatcherism.
So how does a football-club compete at the highest level of the European game when it's in a post-industrial city with a population of only half a million people, a city that's been economically shrinking for decades, and the club's financial resources are curtailed accordingly?
Well, in that situation, good managerial structures and an internal culture of basic decency go a long, long way.

The last set of owners nearly sank the Club; The current owners have overall ran it brilliantly, even though there were a few missteps. Give the 'owners' their due for their efforts, first of all for signing Klopp and resigning him instead of counting pennys like the last few did. and then being not afraid of investing monies in football players like Mr. Henry has.
