The biggest wave that someone has surfed on was 24.4 meters tall (80 feet). It happened in November of 2018. Tsunamis can be around this height but for our purposes let's go a little bigger and say ours is 30 meters tall (100 feet). But if you want to surf on a tsunami - and we don’t recommend you do it - you’ll most likely have to travel to Japan or the Philippines.

That’s one of the any reasons why being a bird is better
The reality of what this wave is like is seen at 0:21 - 0:32. It is not like a regular breaking wave with a face/wall to it you can get a surfboard on. It it very high, chaotic floodwater with tremendous force behind it. Add to that the huge amounts of debris it is carrying (i.e. trees, cars, houses, buildings, etc) which the wave uses to sledgehammer anything in its path and you truly have a terrifying uncontrollable force of nature.
