I have been a narber for over 40 years, flattops are the cut i enjoy the most and i do a lot of them. I have never seen hair being brought to attention with lather. Im going to try it the next time i do one. Awesome haircut! I just subscribed to you channel. Thanxs!
quick and easy..I like the idea of using something light like shave lather to sit the hair up. Saves gumming up your kit. You're a very skillful cutter sir!

Lived in NY for whole life and I never had an issue finding barber who did a proper flat top. Moved to Northern VA for few years and every barber did great flat top because pentagon was right there. Just moved to Myrtle Beach and I’m on barber #3 all terrible flat tops. And Myrtle beach had a very large Air Force base here.

Thanks for this video; I am not (I stress NOT) a barber or hair dresser, I’ve only clipped horses! But my husband has had trouble finding barbers to be able to do this so he bought a clipper set and asked me to give it a go. My first attempt worked out not too badly thanks to this video. X

Awsome love that cut my favorite. Do my own most of the time. I go shorter on top usually. Hair grows fast in couple weeks needs rework. Practice practice always seems like first time everytime. Would like to figure out a simple mirror set up for self cutting

I have wore a flat top for 20+ years this is how it's done. A little long in the sides for me but that's up to the person. Unfortunately my barber retired. Now all I can find are beauticians and they have no idea of what to do.

Could anybody tell me what wireless clipper he was using in the video? I’ve been looking for a good set of wireless clippers with a steal blade, plastic guards just aren’t cutting it(literally). Nice flat top. I have been doing them for 25 y rs in New York and am planning to move south. How are the laws in Tenessee for accepting a N.Y. Barber? One tip I would add is to use a Oster flat top comb . One could use this comb as a platform to get the few missed hairs and to fine tune the shape by riding the clipper gently over the comb while it rests on the flat hair extending it out in front of the comb.

Merit I'm thinking about getting either the Oster octane or the volt or possibly the Andis supra ZR2 the thing that's holding me back on the octane or old as I heard that it's very loud but after hearing this video it doesn't seem to be that terribly loud
Can you cut a Marine High Horse-shoe where the hair is truly in the shape of a horseshoe? I'd love to see one done. They are very difficult to do. Plus not much hair left. Thank you

Sorry for the late reply. We usually use Reuzel products for our flat tops.

We really find a lot of benefits from using the Octanes. Whatever works for you is great!
