  • Part 12 features the American Freedom Train, which is the main topic of the video. Plus we visit two layouts like the Marklin HO/Lionel OO hybrid layout and The Vago Family's wholesome O gauge layout. We see Stu Schuster's Carlisle & Finch Trains that are so hard to find these days. And we see some more streamliners, this time mostly being about the diesels. Watch Part 12 to see something really cool in this video. I hope you enjoyed it and have a Happy Christmas! 🎄
I do not own nor endorse any of the footage uploaded on here. The video series was made for educational and entertainment purposes.

Part 12 is my personal favorite because in 2003, as year after it was released, it was when I met Jeff at the original store location in New Buffalo, MI. As I fanboyed when I saw him (I was 10 mind you), he signed my VHS copy of it and I still have it.

That’s really sweet! I saw your photo before. When I look at it, I just see you two as like kids who were best friends from school. He’s like around your age, I know he’s 11/12 during 2003. But it’s wholesome to see.

The footage of the 4449 in its American Freedom Train livery in 2002 is from Pentrex. If you know about Pentrex then you know what I’m talking about. They have a wide variety of train videos on modern railroading, fallen flag roads, and many others I got a vast collection of Pentrex videos from DVDs to VHS tapes.
The video that the 4449 was in was on an Excursion on the old SP&S mainline through the Columbian River Gorge and the Dashoots River Gorge in Washington and Oregon. I don’t have that video, but I really want to get it and see it for myself.

Yes, I know the footage taken with the 4449 Freedom Train is done by Pentrex. In fact, I’ve watched the video on Wayback Machine a few years ago, it was really cool. I’ll probably be getting the 2002 American Freedom Train video one day, seeing the footage with the 4449 in Red, White & Blue is really cool to look at.

1:16 the 4449 did pull some trains in some parts of the east coast. Mostly for the Southern Steam Program alongside the likes of Southern 722 and 4501 and T&P 610. The 610 also pulled the AFT but only for some states.

Oh yes, both that and Part 12 are my all-time favorite episodes from this show! My favorite segment of all is the American Freedom Train because it is so engaging to watch and is what introduced me to the Southern Pacific GS-4 No.4449 'Daylight' (I prefer the red, white & blue variant cause it looks patriotic and gorgeous). Of course, I didn't even know there was more to the Freedom Train story going by full origins until I saw a full fan-documentary by Peter Dribble where he talked about Reading No. 1. Guess there was not much time to put it all into one segment for time constraints, or possibly because the 4449 was Jeff's favorite steam engine but that's just a guess. Also, Here Comes That Freedom Train is my favorite song of I Love Toy Trains. I often rewatch it whenever 4th of July comes alongside the STS episode 'Mr. Conductor's 4th of July'.
Other favorite segments include the Streamliners of different railroads, Carlisle & Finch, the different layouts and the DD1s. I laughed too when Jeff's friend Asher threw a pie in the face.

Sorry about the delay, I just spent my Christmas time with my family before I came back home. You know how the process of editing the video, it takes a good long time to finish it up. Anyway, no worries, the Final Show is almost done, it will be complete by tomorrow and I’ll be able to upload it pretty soon. So Merry Christmas.

Workers: Ok, we’ve raised the bridge, now what?
Yard Forman: Well, now we put it back down again. But remember this bridge is very old so you gotta be careful. Lower it gently.
    Workers: Ok boss!
    6:34
Yard Forman: GAH! I SAID GENTLY!!! GENTLY!!!
    Workers: Oh! Uh, sorry boss
