Hi Del, good stuff.
I've just have some small tips that may help you improve your results next time! :)
-For filler, only mix 1:100, no need to make the filler turn pink. It will dry too quickly and streak.
-Don't use a paper towel as masking material. You can see a bunch of fibers land in your wet paint at 9:05min when you remove the piece of paper, ruining the finish.
-Don't wear a cotton hoodie and *never* hang with your sleeves above your workpiece. Dust and fibers fall out of your cloths and land on you work.
-If you do the above mentioned things you don't need 10 thick layers of paint to hide imperfections. 3 light coats will do and give you a much better result!
Hope it helps! :) Have a nice day Del!
The paint was touch dry Lorenzo, nothing stuck to it and the final finish is beautiful.!
Some of us subscriber enjoy your methodical and attend to details when it comes to explaining and demonstrating.
Thank you so much. I appreciate that!
Delboy, I always enjoy watching your attention to detail with all your videos. If you dont already, use earplugs for holes you dont want paint getting into, works like a charm
Dammit! Ear plugs for hole bungs! Why didn't I think of that lol What a brilliant idea and I WILL be using that one... thank you Sir, that is inspired.
So *that* explains why my painting projects always turn out like a mess! My "prep work" is apparently slightly different than your "prep work". Here I've been throwing mud on the parts, letting cats walk on them, occasionally when I'm feeling extra attention to detail is necessary for fancy lah dee dah results, I may drop them on the shop floor. Who knew that's how to do it the correct way? Sheesh. Dude, they turned out so beeeautiful! :O
Not even saying a word 😎
一直在youtube看大哥视频,大哥工作挺细致,而且还会教一些专业知识,非常受教,修复摩托车除了这大哥的其他人的没观看过。
Hey Del, I love all your videos! This one came out great as always I wanted to know where you purchased that paint from and also did you sandblast those triple trees? I have a huge sandblasting cabinet with all different types of media in my garage. Was wondering if I could strip all the clearcoat off that way before cleaning and then prepping to paint if that would be effective.
Xlnt video, simple and to the point. Installing wider trees, i got the c clip off, didn't know if the stem pressed or screwd in, thanks much!
Nice, I use that spray quite a bit, always find when bunging up threaded holes with some sort of tissue, that once you pull tissue out, it loosing dusty fibres and sticking to paint, happened with me the other week. It's brilliant spray, looks great
Hi Andy, paint was touch dry, the dust wiped right off buddy.. have a great weekend and keep safe.
@@Moonfleet41 great results then, looking great, have a great weekend yourself, s and hope you are both well
@@prdoohan OK thank you good idea
I would be interested to see what that tuff paint looks like after a year or so. Because regular spray paint doesn't keep its shine after being in the elements. Otherwise nice work
I forgot to put a line on the bottom of the yoke and steem so dont know how to line up the steering lock. What would you suggest lol? loose fit and trail and error?
Take a radial measurement from the top of the tube, measuring round to the angle of the lock, then orientate the stem according to that in relation to the bottom yoke... if you measure it correctly, you'll get it bang on!
@Moonfleet41 thank you very much and merry Christmas to you guys
Lol you’re like the Gordon Ramsey of the motorcycle world😂
And here I thought I was "The King" of rattle-can sprayers! Nice job mate!
so will the radial can paint job with clear coat really hold up to chips, del
well it's a dedicated stone chip paint....sooo, yeah earl
Never had any luck with it but then again I never used a clear coat
@@masterlordking It doesn't use clear coat mate, just the paint by itself..!
What a neat way to spray the trees! That American made triple clamp holding jig you used did a fine job of it :) It's a pleasure watching this series, Del. It is very nice watching a craftsman at his work. I am very pleased to have found your channel, and look forward to watching the rest of this series, as well as the rest of your (and Mrs. Penny's) work. Well done, indeed, you two. Keep 'em coming!
Thank you so much Tommy, It's great to have such kind and generous words of support and encouragement. Welcome aboard, and enjoy the journey sir.!
I really like your step ladder at the beginning of the video.. Tony.
Good results brother. Pain staking work but it’s got to be done.
Thanks Mike, it is indeed, you know yourself how much hard work and hours goes into prep !
What paint is that and where can I get some? lol
Those clamps look better than new. Great work, Del. Good idea to put everything together and mask it, so you can turn the clamps easily while painting.
Günter from Nürnberg/Germany
ahhh.... isn't it a blessing to do something that doesn't require any sanding and polishing after you squirt paint on it! WIN/WIN!
It is indeed Brother, clean and shiny, ready to fit and forget !
No pressure , just can't wait till the finished product! This series has been really educational, thank you 😊
Loving the build so far. Would love to see a video of your tool box setup. You are a very organized guy. Maybe do a video focused on your tools and how to organize our box!!
Like a surgeon with those tweezers, lookin good 👍🏻 both of you enjoy the weekend ☀️😎
Thanks, you too buddy!
Pity they don't put that much care & effort in at the factory, it could go some way to justifying their silly prices . . .
Whilst not too 'Faberge' about some of their castings - 'you do get a lot of metal on your bike' - it just needs finishing.
On the other hand - how much to 'Delficate' a new Harley fresh out the crate? The 'Fatboy-Rough Superior' - want one!
Have a great w/e & stay nice & cool down there in the new equatorial splendor of deepest Dorsetland : )xx
You are right there sir.. you certainly get a lot of metal for your Dollar !! Have a great weekend too and keep safe aye..D&Pxx
trees always look good in black, are you going to black the legs too Del?. I'm waiting for the engine painting, hopefully 😉. Nice work so far mate 👍
Wow that paint looks great.
the amount of prep required can't be over stated. I don't think it would be a terrible exaggeration that for every minute spent spraying paint, there's 10 of clean and prep. Maybe even 15!!
I'd say that's about right, and even then you can always spend more time at it to make sure it's perfect.! Thank you for your kind support as always sir..
Excellent result Del obviously alot of prep. Had you sprayed the yokes separately before adding the forks would the paint have made it a problem to assemble?
Yes mate, you have to press the stem in on the hydraulic press which is a huge amount of force bearing down on to the casting and if it's painted, it would just chew it up... so far easier to press it in whilst it's bare metal and just mask it up... thanks for your kind words buddy.
@@Moonfleet41 👍
Looks awesome!
immaculate attention to detail, looking forward to the end result of this build!
Perfect weather, perfect finish.. nice one Del
Thanks buddy👍
I love your thought process before all the prep work del👍
Thanks mate👍, glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful results, I’m really enjoying watching you work.
Thank you so much!
The result looks beautiful! How long does this painting last? The triple trees get a lot of asphalt debris! isn't a powder coating a better long term solution?
Thank you Leonam. This is a dedicated stone chip paint designed for the job, it's never let me down in many years of using it, flexible and durable, and very easy to re-coat if you ever damage it.!
(watching you file that lower triple clamp and thinking...) Files: if they're good enough for Allen Millyard, they're good enough for the rest of us.
Amen to that !
Great video, Del and Penny. As always, all aspects of the production are superb - especially the camera work. We don't have to miss a thing! Excellent results too. Take care, both of you!
Thank you so much buddy. Glad you enjoyed it, and have a great weekend too.! D&Px
Looking good. What fliud did you use to clean the paint off of the bolt heads?
Just thinners mate.!
Beautiful job Del. Those are going to look really sharp.
Very nice! What chemical did you soak the bolts in to take the paint off?
Just a splash of thinners mate !
A definite improvement,, happy weekend!
Thanks, you too buddy .
Those look great! You sir, have talent.
Thank you kindly!
Great video Del. Excellent prep work and the final product looks fantastic. Great series to follow on the Sportster. Have a great weekend.
Thanks mate, you too! really appreciate your kind support.
Great Video awesome job they look a treat Del 👌👍
Thanks Chris👍, really appreciate it mate.
Awesome video brother! the triple trees look better than new 👌 . Your attention to detail is what makes the result outstanding ! Keep up the great work brother!!! stay safe guys cheers from new york!!!!!🥂🥂🥂
Thank you so much brother😀, we're glad you're enjoying it, and hope you're having a good weekend too.. Take care. D&Pxx
Better than new , be proud.
That finish is superb! And as we all know now, by watching you, preparation is the key! Meticulously done Del! Hope you and Penny have a brilliant weekend - stay safe and enjoy yourselves! x
Thanks mate👍, you're right, it's all in the prep, and never rush it either. ! Have a great weekend too mate.
great stuff.
You are the master at showing that preparation is key to getting the best results possible and you certainly pulled it off this time.
Wonderful work as always Del and fantastic video editing and filming. Credit to you both. Have a fab Sunday Del and Penny. The sun is out in Sweden and so will the bike after I've written this.
🇸🇪🇬🇧🤠👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌞
Thanks so much Paul👍, always good to hear from you, we hope you had a great ride out in the sunshine. Take care and keep safe sir..
@@Moonfleet41 Sure did Del the Swedish countryside is breathtaking and great biking roads. Loving the 114 Street Bob. I've been quoted 5000kr for the first service which is approx 450 quid. Obscene to say the least.
Thank god I can do it myself thanks to you! Can't thank you enough Del and I really enjoy doing it. Even from new I have encountered a couple of errors the Harley dealership have made which I've had to correct. Your meticulous work helped me in more ways than than one.
Thank you Sir! 🥳👋🏻🍺🍺
@@clark7169 Have fun with the service Paul, it makes owning the bike so much more interesting than just riding it aye..!
Nice job Del👌
Imagine what Harley Davidson would charge for their parts if they could build ones that looked this good. 🤑 Beautiful work Del and crystal clear videography Penney !!! Thank you for working so hard for your viewers. ❤️👍👍
Thank you so much Rick, that's the way with any factory item though aye, they build vehicles for profit, not for looks and esteem, so "that'll do" becomes the mantra aye !
Your attention to detail is superb. Great camerawork and editing too.
Thank you so much Ray😀, glad you're enjoying it.
Nicely done!! Enjoyed it!! I would thought you would polish the trees but instead you chose to paint it…. See why from body fillings…
Nuther lovely one, they just keep coming, thanks :)
Thanks, will do Tony, have a great weekend Sir. !
Nice video Del and Penny. Excellent result Del, looks great mate. Penny and you have a great weekend, take care. Cheers
Thanks, you too mate, always good to hear from you.
Insanely awesome photography, Del. The paint came out really well. Love your Goldwing step-stool!!!
Hope you both have a safe and enjoyable weekend there.
(Getting close to 200K subs!)
🏍👍🏍
Thanks so much Gary👍, yes not long now, it's been a long hard slog sometimes, but a great mile stone to be crossing soon. Have a great weekend both of you and remember, in this super hot summer weather, hose down the MIL every hour or so as they can suffer when tethered in the garden !
@@Moonfleet41 lol yessir! Any advice on how to keep the incessant snorting down a bit? She’s scaring the wildlife. 🥴
lovely job yet again have a great weekend you guys atb iain
Thanks, you too mate!
