  • I am here taking a brief test ride on this V Strom 1050XT and comparing it with the Triumph Tiger 900GT and the Ducati 950S. I am 5'5" / 165cm tall, 30 inch /760mm inseam and weigh 63 kg /139lbs. I found this bike just about manageable (with my boots with nearly an inch on the heels) given it's 33.5 inch seat height and weight of 247 kg.

    There is the option for short rider's to have built up soles on your boots? Good quality boot markers like Daytona can supply a built up sole which can be refurbished at anytime, money you save on lowering kits can go towards a quality boot👍🏻

    Low tech, low power and (comparatively) low torque engine means ultra reliability and very easy and cheap maintenance.

    When asked, I think minimum stance is to have two balls of the feet touching at same time, or be able to flat-foot one side or the other. Less than that will be trouble.

    You just earned a subscriber from another short person. I'm 5'6" in height by the way. I've been wanting to see how to manage these tall bikes with short riders like me, although I can manage just fine with the Vstrom 650XT, but tip toes. The Yamaha R1's too high. Also tried to sit on a Suzuki Katana, apparently the seat height's low but the seat itself is wide and I couldn't reach the floor with my other foot and I'm already tip toes on the other, also it's heavy considering it has the same engine with the GSXS1000. How tall are you sir?

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 3 lety +1

      I am just about 5'5" with inside leg of 30". I agree with you about the seat width which makes things worse. I am keenly waiting for the Yamaha Tracer GT9 and the Ducati Multistrada V4 to see how the new reduced seat heights on both feel like. Good luck with your search and have great New Year.

      Wow, now you can imagine what a shorty like me with 30 inch inseam has to go through to be able to feel confident on a bike. The worst bike I test rode so far in terms of top heaviness and scary moments has to be the Ducati Multistrada 950S☹.

      I have long been meaning to test ride the VFR but can't seem to find any friendly dealer who will let me!! You should have filmed it for us to see. I sat on one and thought the weight for an 800cc bike was bit on the obese side in my opinion. And the Traction Control button seems to be an after-thought being stuck separately! Maybe Honda will work on an updated model to catch up with the market

    whats all the figures weight to power ratio all about. whats it fell like. is it fun, comfortable, can you go to the pub on it, then ride down to the alps whats the build quality like will it last whats the history. will it take me a 61-year-old round the N.C. 500 camping. if your only interested in H.P. and how fast it gets to 150mph buy a Fireblade or an R1.

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 3 lety +3

      😃😃 You made me giggle 😄 😆 Yes I agree with you 100% but I included comparison figures for those who are interested in those things. Like you I am not into Race bikes and hence I am trying all the adventure/touring style bikes. But having owned mid range bikes in the past I would now like a bike with a bit more power and torque so that I don't get bored within a few months. Ultimately it's a personal and very subjective opinion which not everyone will agree with.

    • @InfusedBiker
      @InfusedBiker  Před 3 lety +1

      I have not had the pleasure of riding any of them off-road. My views are based on less than an hours ride on road only, and so the F900XR is best performing in my opinion followed by Tiger and then V-Strom. This is my own subjective opinion.

    • @samiam5326
      @samiam5326 Před 3 lety +1

      InfusedBiker thanks for the reply. I only ride on the road too. I’ve been lucky enough to test ride the F 900 XR and the older V-Strom 1000. The only thing I didn’t like about the BMW was the uncomfortable hard seat. And the V-Strom 1000 tipped into corners much quicker than my current V-Strom 650’s neutral handling. I must lineup a ride on the Tiger 900 GT.
      In this style of bike, is there anything you like better than the BMW F 900 XR?
