  • Royal Marine Commandos have been on exercise Cyprus for the past week. They are currently deployed in the Mediterranean as part of a Special Purpose Task Force operating from the amphibious landing ship Royal Fleet Auxiliary Mounts Bay. Two hundred Royal Marines live and operate from RFA Mounts Bay with 150 Royal Navy and British Army personnel in support. Mounts Bay has a range of ships that support the Royal Navy around the globe, from floating hospitals to fuel tankers.

Agree with master Mac. I did time on HMS Intrepid so can confirm what he says! The Royal Marines (when onboard), cause nothing but grief and nause. This includes deliberately blocking up ship toilet sewer systems. This appears to create much jollity amongst the RM, as they know some RFA engineer has to find the block and clear it! Not funny!!

Not the same ship, but RM’s used to make a rod for their own backs on the LSL’s. Sticking sh** down the heads would only result in the macerators jamming. Pipes would back up and flood their decks. Being a 3/O (E) at the time, guess whose job it was to fix it and tell the bad news to the lads: sort your own decks out...

WHY WAS SHE NOT DESIGNED WITH AN ANGLED SUPERSTUCTURE TO ENABLE HER TO CUT THROUGH THE AIR AS WELL AS A BOW THAT CUTS THROUGH THE WATER..? . IT NOT HARD.... JUST A NOTE TO SHIP DESIGNERS... You're an engineer? Specifically a ships engineer? Why would you presume to know better than trained and experienced professionals? Also, aerodynamics isn't that much of a factor when other priorities are deemed more important. Clearly they needed the room for said superstructure and seeing this is an amphibious Bay class landing ship, its main goal isn't speed and efficiency but rather capacity. Btw, using all caps makes you sound like a pedantic little child and the arrogance in your comment is the icing on top of it. Nice way of making a fool out of yourself you dunce.
