  • Our Worst Drivers take on the Icy Corner Challenge
    Drivers must drive towards a bend at speed and turn successfully, what they might not realise, is that this is a slippery turn. They must brake in time and take caution slipping and sliding round the bend, trying not to hit the barriers!

    I think you should make new drivers play BeamNG for at least 100 hours, taking different challenges in there before allowing them to drive real car. Game gives you very good idea of how car reacts to certain actions, especially when playing with the wheel.

    If you car has ABS, DO NOT release the brake!

    • @bigdaddyzoz
      @bigdaddyzoz Před 2 měsíci +10

      That's only true when you're going straight, if you don't release the brake in this scenario, ABS or not you will crash

    • @franciscodinizchico1803
      @franciscodinizchico1803 Před 2 měsíci +6

      @@bigdaddyzoz That's not true. If you car has ABS it will automatically release the brake and hold the brake a lot of times per second and then you will be able to turn. If you get spooked by the pedal vibration and release it to try to steer you will stop much further than a car without abs.

      @@franciscodinizchico1803 you do you, in my experience with 5 different cars(all different brands) only 1 of them was decent with the ABS turned on when maneuvering in icy conditions like this

    • @TerranRedsky
      @TerranRedsky Před 2 měsíci

      So that's true if it's very rainy but Ice is different. ABS works by comparing wheel speeds to each other so if a wheel locks up and is suddenly way slower than the others it releases and reengage the brakes as you said. The issue is on ice you can actually lock all 4 wheels up which to the car looks like you have stopped moving so the ABS doesn't kick in so you loose pretty much all control. Hope that helps :)

    • @markkNL
      @markkNL Před 2 měsíci

      shifting down can also cause you to slide, push the clutch when sliding so the only force on the wheels is that of the road, which will give you the best chance of actually having traction and thus being able to steer.
