@@theescapist all this talk of fannies that Mr Croshaw is doing is getting me hot under the collar.
I have no problems here and I do not know what officals in your area have said, but the virus Co.Vi.D.-19 will mst likey need a 6 month to decrease to a "safe" level. I have written this just to try and stop false hope or misallinded beliefs, sadly I feel the need to state that this is not an attack on you, the reader, viewer, cominator/narator/presenter, channel, government, country or anything/anyone else other then possible the human belief that aggrestion is a positive and disrable trait/action.
Thank you for reading this far. Have a positive feeling, it will feel positive. :)
I would, but if I watch it now, then I'll rob my future self of it, and I'm already running out of things to keep myself busy.
The stupid evil corporation is increasingly the most believable part.
And this time, they were at least introduced to a "really big bomb."
I love that Umbrella probably spent millions on making Nemesis, the t-Virus and whatnot, but all Nemesis can do is throw Jill around a bit and would have eventually gotten blown up at the end anyway. I don't understand why they couldn't just use one of their many hired mercenaries to sneak into her apartment and shoot her in the head, or snipe her on the street, or kill her in some trivial way instead of using Tyrants. A random dude with an AR-15 could do what both Mr. X and Nemesis failed to do.
And don't forget that our characther has feelings and suffer, and after that she uses a big gun to destroy the gelatine monster.
I miss RE4
@@TheCheat_1337 Honestly I'm surprised the whole Umbrella security team Carlos was in wasn't just the backup plan, if Jill somehow survived. They're LITERALLY hired by Umbrella. Just give them an extra bonus if they cap S.T.A.R.S. members while escorting them through an alleyway or something.
Plus that would've been the perfect way to wrap up what happens to Carlos at the end of the game, bc I highly doubt Capcom's gonna bring him back for a sequel.
Oh yeah, data’s the good stuff. A few kilos of data, a couple of hired pleasure, and the local cops bought off...yeah, it’s the thug life.
Men, they bleed for days, kill for data, give ****jobs in the park for a gram of the stuff. Who needs sex when you got a few lines of data and a rope?!
I love how Yahtzee doesn't even dignify the multiplayer being brought up with a response.
yeah cause remember all those good multiplayer resident evil games
At least it’s average...... in comparison to all the others REmultiplayers..... right?

I’m not saying Capcom WOULD have done this, but in a wonderful dream world where the multiplayer was cut entirely, more resources were sent into the main campaign, and the price was cut by $20, I would have been completely happy.
@@nitronization1 Perfectly balanced
It would've been interesting to see the game take a note from until dawn, prioritized the multiplayer aspect, and gave us a game akin to the original RE3...

Felipe Boero Yahtzee absolutely hates multiplayer so I thought his comment at the end about the voices in his head telling him to hurt himself was funny.

Dany that’s the way it looked for me based on it’s tutorial. Haven’t played an online match yet. I personally enjoyed three but was surprised how lacking it was in content. Feels like dlc for 2.

Holy crap, I didn't realize until now that ff7 is going through the same beats as Days of future past.

There's actually a conspiracy that Capcom is actually doing these Remakes to make sure they can retcon RE5 and 6.

I'm still holding on to the vain hope that that's a mistranslation that hasn't been corrected because of the virus and that they're really planning on remaking Code Veronica, because that is basically Resident Evil 4, just not named that because people were more nervious about numbering there series past 3 back then.
Like, Veronica is still close enough to what's happening in these two REmakes for them to use a lot of the same assets with a few tweaks. Going to the actual 4 would be going from 40s to 100 in just a few seconds.

...what...?
@@danieltobin4498 that's what everyone said when Capcom asked everyone working on the to add it in
@@danieltobin4498 There's a scene where a bug creature descends on Jill and sticks... something tentacle-y... straight down her throat for an extended amount of time, with multiple camera angles and everything to get you the best view of it. Then it injects all its babies into her stomach (there is even an inventory screen that shows an x-ray of them squirming around inside you), and afterward you take a green herb and she pukes them up. But its done so nonchalantly for what is actually happening, like all Jill says about it is "eww, gross". There are even written notes about it around the area in which the people who wrote the notes sorta just treat it as a regular occurrence and not some horrific nightmare. And this is a normal enemy so you can get "filled up" multiple times. Its truly bizarre. I'm shocked how little people seem to be bothered by the idea of a spider creature doing that, people should be acting sick just from the thought of it (where are all the arachnophobes?), but I guess since the characters strangely don't seem to mind all that much then neither do any of the players. (maybe Jill is into it? I'm joking of course)

It's very odd that Capcom switched the mechanics of Mr. X and Nemesis between their original game incarnates. In RE2 Mr. X would only show up in specific set pieces; in RE3 Nemesis could show up in a number of possible locations, but you wouldn't see them all in a single playthrough. In RE2 REimagining Mr. X can show up in virtually any room in the police department; in RE3magining, Nemesis only shows up during specific story beats.

I think the first Resident Evil remake did the best job at portraying zombies, for two reasons:
1. They were always slow and didn't gain a ridiculous burst of speed, to lunge at you with, when they were fairly close to you.
2. If they did get ahold of you, you could actually fight them off, without them ever sinking their teeth into you.

Your description (and imagery) of Mr Nemesis made me genu-LOL!
Capcom drop the ball harder with this game than the oil prices did
Ouf
@Maintenance Renegade A game being lacklustre 20 years ago is not an excuse for a remake to be, let alone worse than the original in a lot ways. Capcom had the opportunity to make a fantastic game eith the brilliant elements of 3 as the foundation and they fucked it up.
@Maintenance Renegade CV sucks though
@Maintenance Renegade I don't really care about Jill or any of the characters in Resident Evil. I never understood that part of the fanfare, so rest easy I aint here to froth over Jill.
What brilliant elements of 3 am I talking about?
There's the core Resident Evil feedback loop of environmental exploration to solve puzzles and progress while managing inventory space and survival tools (think ammo, herbs etc.)
I think RE3 built on this by having an expanded ammo crafting system, meaning if you had a weapon you enjoyed using it was worth your time to explore to find ammo types to mix. The fact that gunpowder and ammo was often hidden on bodies or behind parts of the environment made the player engage with their surroundings a bit more than previous titles too.
Again in terms of exploration, events would change based on what location you would visit at what time. Sure it wasnt drastic but it added to the replay value of the game and spiced it up when you thought you were going to meet Nicholai at the gas station but Carlos is there and you get a new cutscene with him. It just rewards exploration with actual tangible things, not just the joy of seeing pretty screens.
Atmosphere I think 3 did a good job with. Walking through the streets you can here screams and moaning and there's this sense of desolation and oppression. Every survivor you come across in the streets is killed, often eaten in front of you. Then you visit the RPD and upon returning to Uptown, nighttime has fallen and their are new enemies around. Changing the time of day and enemy places shifts not only the atmosphere to something new (howling winds etc.) but also transforms a familiar environment that you started to understand and feel "safe" in to something relatively new. It makes the backtracking less of a detractor (much like in 2 when Mr. X shows up just as you start feeling comfortabe in the RPD).
The environments are pretty fresh. Say what you will about the quality of later environments but city streets/buildings - clocktower - park - water treatment/dead factory etc. are actually new visually than more underground labs and sewers.
Carlos actually giving you useful items (eg GL ammo) in gameplay and also interacting with Jill on realtime fights (see restaurant Nemesis fight) It reinforces the character bond between Jill and Carlos through actual gameplay. I care about Carlos because he's actively helping me as a player.
Nemesis was a great idea, yes hes prdtty janky sometimes but as a pursuer and persistent threat he works well. Nemesis actually drops useful shit, unique guns, first aid spray containers etc. In OG3 and even if his appearances are relatively scripted, his interactions with Jill are not. Nemesis is a lot more enjoyable to interact with when I don't know exactly what he's going to do.
Again in terms of gameplay, yes, RE3 was more action based but look at how that was handled. You were given tools to make action sequences occur organically. Shotguns, assault rifles, more ammo, explosive barrels, big hoardes. These are all tools given to the player to create action orientated events. The remake all too often wrestles control away from the player to show them some action set piece rather than letting them be part of it.
Mercenaries mode is a lot of fun and gives a good reason for more action based gameplay.
I could go on but I hope I provided some decent ideas of what OG RE3 did well. These were all foundations to be built on and expanded, all too much of it was ignored or focus was in my opinion put in the wrong places.
Also just as a note, there has been 20 years since the game originally launched and it was never even meant to be mainline entry. Anyone saying that the reason RE3make is disappointing because the original was disappointing is just making excuses for Capcom imo.
@Maintenance Renegade Whatever dude but that's the stupidest take I've read in a long time.
What were they working on this whole time? Come on, Yahtzee. Pressing ctrl+c on all the RE2make assets and pasting them to make it 30% of the new game while cutting content from the original is really hard work.
they worked as hard as me pee pee rn

Ok. I snorted my tea out on that last 'hearing voices' joke. Well played
"Another five odd hours." I think you mean "Another one to three odd hours." Honestly this could be $20 DLC for the new RE2, and nobody would know the difference.
I've heard claims that this was made as DLC for 2, but then they went ahead with releasing it on its own and added the multiplayer game to try to make the price worth it.
Possibly one of the best episodes.
Love the game but I love you this analogy of Nemesis.
If you watched his Post-ZP Stream of RE3, Yatzhee mentions Nemesis as being more linear but it isn't meant to be taken completely as a negative. He said that Mr. X free-roaming the RPD felt more like a distraction whereas Nemesis is put more in linear scripted events since he's being frontloaded as one of the main characters in the story, so he just treats them differently.
He also talks about how the open streets of Raccoon are clearly designed with that in mind since Nemesis can easily outpace or jump ahead of you through the streets so a free-roaming mechanic wouldn't have worked as well.
Interestingly, his main criticism towards RE3 (both the remake and original) is that he was never actually fond of having Jill return as the protagonist since she's already an elite officer who went through RE1 unlike Leon and Claire who were still newbies in RE2. That said, he did find the game harder than RE2 overall.
It is finally here!! Great video as always!!
Resident Evil 3 or the game that ends 2 minutes after you start it.
the cut so many parts its insane
@@alilweeb7684 And yet it's still longer than the original. Honestly, they improved the parts that were in the game so much vs. the original I don't much care. Clocktower and Park collectively are 10 minutes long. What really grinds me is that they didn't include the "choices" thing Yahtzee mentioned and Nemesis Stage 2. What is needed to make RE3 10/10 is the above, and longer, more organic chases by Nemesis (i.e., extend the opening city part by approximately double the time) and include the puzzles from the original (there were like no puzzles in the remake).
EDIT: Also, I am CONVINCED Capcom rushed this team. What is in the game is incredibly polished and good. Nemesis is an overall upgrade to original game and Mr. X, if you ask me. It seems that they wanted to make the Clocktower/Park area but ran out of time (DLC maybe? Perhaps we can play as Carlos coming in from the Clocktower area to rescue Jill).
Nobody misses the fight with the giant worm? Just me? Ok

In addition to the loss of the dynamic choices, I'm also let down by the lack of a "true hunter" Nemmy. In the original 3, Nemmy was scripted to show up at times, and would follow you through multiple areas, but you really felt like every exploratory step was a potential ass beating. Seeing how they made Mr X actually roam about the maps had me hyped for how on your butt Nemesis would be. But he feels less like a looming threat than he used to.
@@petersutor5845 The problem is they could have expanded those areas and made them better; that pretty much goes for really any part of the game, but they phoned it in. This game is essentially a giant "what could have been?" Instead, we're left with a hollowed out re-imagining that takes very little game design cues from its source material and instead gives us a thinly-veiled, noticeably short, unimaginatively designed and heavily padded action game that's propped up by a multiplayer game nobody asked for.
That Phil Collins line should have been in the actual video.
Amazed at how the picture of bin bag, jellie-baby, teeth and rocket launcher is instantly recognizable as RE3's Nemesis (1:17)
"A month or two..."
This game's amazing because it actually brings up how RE protagonists never get infected. o_0
Also, Jill's not dumb enough to constantly touch blood during a viral outbreak like Leon and isn't defeated by a taped electrical box....REmake 2 was dumb.
Cause they are given the cure, or just kill everything in sight.
They mention in the beginning that they just as well might be, just to cover up that loose end lazily
this comment is garbage because its actually unrelated to how bad the quality of content in re3 remake is
Canonically, none of them ever get bitten or injured outside of what's shown in cutscenes. Because if they never got bitten, there wouldn't be much of a game if they can just waltz through with no danger. Just like how there's tons of Assault Rifle ammo and grenades in the hospital; why? For the game's sake of course. Doesn't make sense in-universe, because why would a hospital have all that?
A good rule of thumb in videogames is that if it isn't revealed in the story (cutscenes, dialogue, etc), then it doesn't actually "happen". Never try to mix game mechanics with the lore and canonical story.
Just like in Uncharted. Nathan Drake gets shot all the time but supernaturally heals in seconds. That's a game mechanic. But in Uncharted 4, he was shot by Raife in a cutscene, and almost died from it. In all 4 games, that's the only time he was canonically shot. Or when he's taking on entire armies of dudes. Again, in-game it's so the player has a shooting gallery to have fun with. In the story, it's simply implied that they are small skirmishes or run-ins with mercenary factions and not the all-out war that the game portrays. The comics are a great example. Nathan struggles to kill a handfull of dudes yet in the games he's a walking deathmachine.
So: story /=/ gameplay
1:23 “What was that about hats, again?”
“Oh. People aren’t buying enough.”
Wow
The sheer low key savagery of that last line utterly blindsided me
Can't wait for the naming convention to be screwed once they REmake Code:Veronica
You just know they're going to rewrite that entire story. Crazy man obsessed with dressing like a woman as a villain in 2020? No way they'll let that fly again.
@@anthonylipira9526 They could pull it. They're just gonna focus really realllly damn hard on the mental illness part, and make them a lot more sympathetic.
Which is gonna be hard.
@@anthonylipira9526 They're probably just going to do a silhouetted mannequin with Alfred doing the voice or something
@Vox Populi "suffer the consequences"
Thanks for proving my point, you wannabe cultural commissar, self-appointed Voice Of The People. I'm sure you'll be able to punish and purge your way to utopia, comrade. I just wanted to play video games.
Anthony LiPira everyone said that about final fantasy 7’s cross dressing part and then they did it anyways. You act like the cross dressing of him is meant to antagonize cross dressers when it’s just showing an identity crisis. The only issue I could see is Claire’s “you cross dressing freak” but even that isn’t that bad
Anyone wonder if Yatzhee has ever dabbled with multiplayer in his life.
He has. Mind you it was a Star Wars game that was nothing but multiplayer so his options were limited.
That ending line was golden
“ keep hearing the voices again...” 😂
Damn it all, I was looking forward to meeting Nemesis again outside of scripted set pieces.
dear god, I loved the ending xD
''doctor I'm hearing voices again''
keep up the good work mate
That's Jill playing Hungry Hungry Hippos with Nemesis in case.
I knew these videos were therapy for you. Good job. Let it out.
I don't know of anyone else feels like this, but I felt like the ending message was really forced, not saying that the message itself is bad, but the way it was delivered was.
If anyone is wondering it was a human greed and hubris message.
I genuinely can’t tell if he actually liked this game or not.
So it’s your box standard Zero Punctuation review. 8/10, would watch again.
He didn't...or rather he might have if they hadn't messed up a bunch of shit after such a good job on 2
@@heartysquid ??? No? He said that it's weaker than RE2 but he still thinks it's alright.
His is "Recommended", "Do not recommend", and "Horrible but in such a way that is recommendable"
Nanner Dunlocke There’s also a “this was so boring and generic it’s not even fun to make fun of it” category.
“When all this goes away in two months”
It’s September, this virus has overstated its welcome like a internet meme that doesn’t know when to die
Oh, that last bit killed me. Like, I laughed so hard I was lightheaded for a moment
