Truck Missing for 7 Years found in a Hoarder Pile!

- I don’t know the full story on this one, but anonymous customer of mine either sold this truck out of the fleet, had a rental turn into a sale, or it was just a rental that was never returned. But either way, the box truck disappeared for the better part of a decade and the person who had it disappeared. They had given up on it long ago, until they received a phone call telling them exactly where it was and giving them the persons current contact info. They got ahold of the person who gave up and told them to just go get it if they wanted, so they sent me up there in my @NRCIndustries
40TB rollback to get it and bring it bring it back over the mountain to them.
It was quite the mess of junk, and luckily Alex answered his phone and drove right over to help me out. Between the two of us we snuck it out of there between all the obstacles like a tiller fire engine and got it down to the road, where I re hooked it from the front, and headed over the mountain pass to see how much snow and ice there was.

U-Haul markings not on it. It was probably sold after it was decommissioned.

Fifty years ago, the fire department forced a neighbor to clean out his fire hazard of a garage. His nickname was "Packrat Rotten". He employed several of us teenagers to help. In the process of removing decades of stuff, we discovered a 1966 Anglia (English Ford) and a 1959 Harley Davidson ElectraGlide Elvis Presley Edition buried in the rubble. He had raised the garage 2 courses of cement block so he could stack more stuff in there.

What a mess. At first I thought there was a truck hidden inside the box of hoarder crap from the thumbnail. Hope they paid up for the prep to repo this truck. Great job to Alex for his assistance.
I came close to being in the same situation as that property owner when I allowed my "friend" to put his older Suburban in my large fenced side yard till he could get it repaired. I noticed he was starting to add to his collection so I gave him 30 days to get it all out before I called the scrap yard to come and get it. No good deed goes unpunished.
There’s one bonus on this one: when this is done, you will appreciate your own property and home so much!

That bus with a truck bed is one of the most interesting ideas I've ever seen. It would probably be a neat restoration, but way above my budget/skill level.
think there are many who would like to have it. just a little small cabin. a few feet longer, it would be the perfect camper with the toys on the bed

😲 The full view of the property was pretty shocking for 1 hoarder. I feel sorry for the elderly owners and the caretaker taking over.
That is happening everywhere,
The larger the property the longer it will take to fill up. But regardless of the dimensions, no space is left unoccupied.
I myself did clear out after a hoarder. Two appartments, one cabin, one rented storage locker. Three month four days a week work...

The owner of the property should call the sheriff to see if any of those vehicles are stolen. The car that was near the rear of the uhaul had two lic plates on the rear
Seeing all the parts of many bicycles, I wonder if they weren't stolen too but then again, they looked to be in parts so maybe to part out and sell?
Also, that silver colored cab, I saw the doors and bed that may belong to it along the fence as Casey drove the truck out from is spot.
Maybe the car was sold to another state?
@@rome0610 Not as likely if this is a hoarder place as the idea of getting rid of something vexes them to no end. It's a disorder in and of itself.
The person trying to clean that property has one hell of a task ahead of them !!

I don't envy them. Tow companies might come get the vehicles. Everything else, three piles. Wood/burnable, scrap metal, and trash. Probably have a sanitation company come out and drop a dumpster for a weekend, once you see how big the trash pile is and therefor how big a dumpster is needed.

There is a 4th R which is: RUN - um no, it's RUBBISH.
So get the wheelie-bin/dumpster rubbish collector in, to take it to landfill, AFTER sorting out the valuables (from the outright rubbish)
What I saw there could be several hundred $$$$ worth of recyclables

I work in residential hvac and I have been in just about every type of hoarder home you can imagine in 25 years the visual overload is very similar to the smell overload .
I really feel bad for people who get stuck in a hoarding situation. But can we talk about that truck/bus thing? You're right, kind of sketchy, but kind of cool!

Put some nice wheels some paint and body work I would chop it and shorten it and it would be a cool hot rod tow rig or put big military axles under it and be a cool 4x4
I once had a bus/truck like that. Old school bus painted blue. The back was moved up to make a closed cab and the rest was a flat bed. With ramps, drove my ‘74 FJ40 Land Cruiser on it and moved from PA to FL. If you happened to be southbound on I-95 on New Year’s Day 1991 and saw that mess, it was me and a couple of friends going south to start a new life! 😄
I was on the right track. I thought it was for a race car hauler.
There was a nicer version parked near the flaming chicken Bend in the oughts, It was painted army green with bed sides made of chainlink fence and he used it for firewood

As a new truck driver I know how difficult to drive back out there .. Alex did a great job
Another example of why you don’t let “friends” use your property… it’s bad enough what they do on public lands but these type of individuals will absolutely destroy an area and feel absolutely no remorse or responsibility for what they do.
That rollback is very versatile with the tailboard boom head you made. The under lift is impressively strong.
I haven’t even began to touch what that underlift is capable of.
First question I had, was if you emptied the truck. Thanks for answering that, but deep down I knew it won't be your problem. They wanted it back, they get what's in the back.

I grew up in a rural area and messes like that were numerous. This one was definitely one of the worst. Good job Casey retrieving that truck.

After the security camera/system privacy and this videos confidentiality I like the channel even more. Far too many people pander to publicizing everything at the detriment of their own security or long term relationships.
I always liked using the spring hanger brackets. Easy , quick and secure. Just have to watch your height when the front axle drops and the U-Haul has that big storage over the cab.
Love the no trespassing sign on the steps of the U-Haul.

I think it would be an easy fix. Somewhere there’s a controller with wires going to the solenoids. You should be able to match the function to the solenoids and switch the wires to match the functions.
Or...just replace the wrong labels, with correct ones! 😏
Something tells me rewiring this thing will be easier than finding the correct label.
Great job by you and Alex weaving that out through the maze. It must be a good feeling for you knowing that you have friends like Alex and Grumpy that you know are happy to come help when you call. I get it having things you might "use later" for something but having trash that you could throw away is mental, I have seen people that are driving their vehicle and never clean out the trash even when they park near a dumpster. Lots of people like that. I've been watching your videos of the clean up of that forest land I just found your channel and started watching (out of order) what a great job all the volunteers did out there making a difference. You should methodically stack everything in the back before transport. Wouldn't want any of that to get damaged.

It doesn't matter if they send it to the scrap yard. It's licensed to them, their liability, they want it back. they could get a dumpster and empty it out, then sell it dirt cheap for someone else to restore and use it again, but it has to be in their possession first.

Hey Casey, I seen the problem you have with your remote control for your hydraulics. I think it would be easy for you to correct by simply removing the electrical lead to the air valves and rearranging them so the control signal are going to the correct air valve. Believe it or not, I have faced this before. I’ve been an industrial electrician and controls technician for over 40 years. This does happen. I hope this helps, Joe

Even if he just does that before selling the truck, as he's already reprogrammed his own brain to use the wrong buttons. It's like having the switches in your bathroom doing different things than the switches in another bathroom, you've been doing it so long that it's less confusing to just leave them the way they are.

Theres dip switches in the remote match them to the reciever and that should align the buttons.

Oh my gosh! Seeing property left in this condition is sickening. It draws mice,rats, roaches, snakes, etc.,etc.. Owning property next to this is also a nightmare. I do not fault you one bit not wanting to dig through that mess! You don't get paid enough. Alex did a fantastic job of steering the truck to get it out of there - I've done it and it was awkward to say the least. I hate to think of how many pounds all of the various attachments you use weigh!!

@Casey LaDelle and how much money to buy them to outfit the truck so you can do what you need to do to haul each different vehicle. that explains why it costs to hire a tow. the property owners are going to need multiple tows and dumpsters to get it all cleaned up. wow!

If I understood well, the controls of the mobile bed are upside down or even mixed up, the towed truck had driver side and passenger side inverted being towed backward, then re inverted again when the puller was backing and the WW beetle I was waiting tor (the car) in the video was actually a true giant ladybug (we call the WW car this way in France)

My brother and I owned a property that we had moved away from years ago. As far a we knew it was empty. Well, over that period of time the world went nuts over an illness, we had a bunch of squatters move in. First we heard of a problem is when the sheriff sent us a notice for we needed to clean up the property or the county would fine us. What? So we out and looked and we had a bunch of meth heads had moved small trailers all over the place in were living in them. No electric service, water or sewer. Because of this illness issue, the sheriff office was not doing evictions. Evictions? These were not renters they were trespassing !! But try to get to court… we could have spent thousands but still could not get them off our property. The system had come to a halt. But they still fined us.
Eventually we just sold the property to a young couple who lived local. It cost us thousands to get out from under the damn thing. Which sucks because I loved the place. But they could run them off and haul off all the trash and junk cars and stuff. It had a 40x60 metal building full to the rafters. It’s probably cost 20,000 to pay to the garbage company since it was many 40 yard dumpsters. Unbelievable unless you lived it. I suspect many other land owners have had to deal with the same thing the past few years
That is terrible. Sorry you went through that and lost your property. That illness played havoc with a lot of people.

I don't even think a normal person can understand the mess in a hoarders head and why they collect rubbish. I sure can not.
I can relate but on a more sane level! I hate throwing stuff away!! Especially stuff that can be fixed or may someday be worth something/ or be useful again in near future! That being said I have hoarding tendencies but I’m aware and try to remind myself to let stuff go! Without my wife managing my collecting of things I would end up just like this guy, even though I tell myself that would never happen!😅

I have a friend like that, thinks the emotional attachment to discarded crap will someday be useful or valuable. When his dates (extremely rare) see his place, they leave without notice. He can't understand why and he still is unmarried at 60.

I feel sorry for the neighbors! What an embarrassing disaster.
The property next to mine is rented to a hoarder. It was always interesting to see all the junk he piled up but eventually he ran out of room in the house and in the backyard (1/2 acre property) and moved on to storing things in his front yard. One of our neighbors has called the city about him a few times to get him to cut back on it. Eventually it reached the property owner and they're now in the process of evicting him. Its taken over a month and hes still not finished leaving. He's also a bike collector lol I wonder what that's about...
I've know alot of "bike collectors" type hoarders,but the funny thing is you never see them ride any of them...ever lol
I live in the country and down the road a bit is a person who has nailed golf balls around trees from the ground up as high as they can reach, has tricycles lined up all over the yard and last year added a semi type trailer. Maybe to store more trikes and golf balls. Odd but at least not messy/trashy at this point. 🤷🏼♀️

Why would the owners of the stolen truck contact the criminal thief who stole the truck? Just repo it back, never contact the criminal he could hide it again
If there was a purchase agreement in place it wouldn’t be theft but a civil matter. The seller should be either the rightful owner in the case of a rental, it could be theft, but as a seller would simply be a lien holder and depending on the agreement could repossess the vehicle without the persons consent.
They probably wanted the rest of their money more than the truck and may have left it if the would-be buyer resumed making payments.

Casey, I can tell you take this seriously. Props on your work! Most drivers I ever knew would have popped the trans in neutral and risked the transmission.
