    Love the goblin dungeon idea. Put a few waves, like 10 goblins, 10 hob goblins, 10 giant goblins and that boss goblin that attacks with 2 styles or something. Regarding the gear switching, I feel like having a f2p ice/fire giant boss like Obor and Bryophyta where it uses "overhead prayers" similar to Kalphite queen might be a good way to get players introduced to switching gear during a fight. Have the monster be super weak to attack styles but essentially immune to the one it's praying against. That way players will bring multiple attack styles and learn how to switch mid-battle. Or have them throw objects like the demonic gorilla's/bear from getting ahead. Giving a boss one of these mechanics individually might help players recognise them in later fights where there's multiple mechanics happening at the same time.

      Bringing ideas from other mmos to put into a totally different mmo is not a good plan.
      Yes we need more content at a higher pace (though he saying we got 4 things in a year is not exactly a wild concept considering other mmos who get a patch every 4 months for 2 days worth of content), yes we need to ignore the minority that are the high end pvmers/inferno challangers. Yes we need to fill some gaps in content. But what he was suggesting is not only doomed to fail, it might potentially be damaging, and let's say it isn't and it's just content for content's sake, it will die very fast. Now let's say you don't care about it dying, consider this, how much of his brainstorming actually was throught trough? The dungeon idea for example, play any dungeon in any other mmo and think "yeah this will work in osrs" i fucking dare you. Also...ever heard of dungeoneering?

      @@J1mmy OSRS is unique in the fact that it's been ruined before (for most people). It's also special in that it has been developed in a way that content from 10-20 years ago is still relevant today, NO other mmo does this they will typically have old items, content and locations become completely obsolete the moment a new expansion hit. These 2 factors lead to longevity being a major community concern and giving the devs free reign is seen as a risk since they may just add insane power creep that completely changes the meta of the game. Prehaps if the devs were more open to buffing and nerfing things people would be more onboard with them adding some content without polling as it would reduce the risk.
      Although I do agree that non reward content could be unpolled in most cases as rewards are where 90% of the damage has come from so far.

      I played ff14 and did week 1 savage raids before. And for what? For them to become irrelevant 3 months later when the new patch hits. OSRS isn't about rewarding low effort, it's about the long journey to something great. there is plenty of low to mid level bossing. Raids should be hard to reach, it makes it worth having. The reason OSRS outshines all other MMO's is because they don't give you everything you want in a little bow right off the bat. you have to work for it and earn it. So once you have it, you feel proud. Nobody feels proud of a gift, we all feel proud of something we earn't ourselves.

There isn't really a lot you can fight as a low level character with a team that would be rewarding or engaging. When I introduce people to OSRS and create a new F2P character to show them the ropes, I always struggle with coming up with combat content that we can to together rather than next to each other. Stronghold of Security is perhaps the most interesting location, but it could really use some low level boss mechanic to keep it more engaging. Perhaps if you kill enough mobs, a superior-like one spawns with multiple attack styles? There's like 20 base game dungeons in ESO, and they can be played on 3 different difficulties: Normal, Veteran, and veteran Hard Mode. I think Old School would benefit alot from something like that, and the scaling difficulty would make it accessible for almost all players. To build off your goblin dungeon example, the final boss mechanics could differ based on difficulty, kinda like how you can disable mechanics on RS3's Arch Glacor. You could also put a skeleton at the hole entrance, and have "push skeleton" as the encounter start action for a not-so-subtle LOTR reference. 😄

    One of the most frustrating things about being an OSRS player is the part of the player base that wants nothing to change, ever, because of the fear that it will somehow devalue their playtime. The truth is, for an MMO to exist, it MUST produce new content. New content = new players = more dev money = more and better content. Without that cycle, the game becomes “completed” = players leave = less money = no content = dead game.
    I also think the player base as a whole needs to trust the dev team more. The days where OSRS was being run by a three person team is long past us, and Jagex realizes this. That’s part of why the dev team has been expanding more and more every year. I think the game would be much better off if we gave the necessary freedom and trust to the dev team to just make content for us. I don’t really care about specific exp rates, I don’t give two shits about the fine details of how something looks, and I certainly don’t care if content comes into the game that’s not focused on the top 1% of players and gets called “dead on arrival”. That’s not why I play the game. I enjoy all kinds of content, I like having choices for different things to do in the game, and I think giving the dev team the trust and freedom to let their creativity run wild is going to bring more content more quickly.
    Frame of reference: I’m a 2100+ total level main account with more time played than I’d prefer to admit

      honestly kinda dumb take. "if u dont like how easy the content is just gimp urself till its hard!" is just not it chief. people also arent entirely complaining about how easy the content is rn moreso how its CLEARLY designed for mid game players and end game players are left to rot.
      toa even on 500 invos is hard dont get me wrong but its not hard in the right way. everything in it is pretty easy but if u make 1 mistake over the hour it takes u just insta die. its not fun tob is challenging cause of the high skill ceiling it has right but it only has that skill ceiling because there are actual mechanics that were clearly intended for high lvl players and not tommy no brain who cant gear switch yet.
      its really isnt an issue of difficulty entirely and how the skill ceiling is just so so god damn low because every "mechanic" is just clearly designed to be handled by someone who can barely even pray and move at the same time

To this day a lot of people can't do tob or get into it. But to make more like tob will only screw those players more and be equally as difficult for the players that can do it so there's no winners. Hence the scaling of toa to adress those problems. Not to mention these elite players in toa choose to red x baba and safespot akkha with loads of tilemarkers to make it easier...

    • @Keyourasa
      @Keyourasa Před 11 měsíci

      @@Jake-vg7mw i didnt play on tob release so i cant really comment on that but im not even saying make it more like tob but toa really should have like any mechs at all. the issue with the scaling is that it doesnt actually make the raid any harder it just makes it longer and more insta kill if u do mess up and ofc more chipdmg.
      and i get the tile markers thing for ahkka but i think if u throw just about any good player on base client they can still do it. its just more active brain power to know exactly the tile but its really not any harder.
      and i do think that the frustration of not getting a completetion is kinda a part of it that imo is a good sign that the content is mechanically challenging for everyone. maybe it needs more tweaking to make it a bit less brutal in raids 4 so mistakes arent nearly as bad. but what we have now is 2 extreames tob is a bit too hard for the avg player and toa is way to easy for a good player. we need to meet in the middle which i think is alot of interesting and hard mechanics that arent insta 99 dmg if u fuck up. granted this could be bad in practice but we wont know until its atleast tested.
      but i do think having the community struggle together is a big part of what makes runescape an mmo to begin with like back in the day on gwd release dude everyone struggled to get kills and not die. its just kinda the heart of the game imo

    if we could make gear-switching ENTIRELY optional in fights, except maybe one or two, that'd be great

    One day I hope to see OSRS be unshackled by the limitations of polls. I want to see Jagex be a real game dev company. At best they still feel like teenagers sitting at the kids table and despite their tenure and being in the top 10 most populated MMO's, they still feel scared to make healthy changes to OSRS.

      Its in the top 10 BECAUSE of the polls

    • @LPcrazy_88
      @LPcrazy_88 Před 11 měsíci

      @@AdulAhmad68 It took OSRS more than 5 years to regain the population they started with when it was re-released in 2013. More than half the population quit within 6 months. Poles served a purpose but has held the game back more than it has helped in many ways, with few exceptions. It makes zero sense that 31% of the population can kill an entire idea.
      Poles should be to get feedback, not to dictate what can and can't happen.

    point ur making about early simple dungeons with demi bosses is spot on, especially with untradable minor inbetween upgrades. Hopefully Jagex is paying attention;)

    Your points on early level dungeons/raids is 100% spot on. My friend got me to make a group ironman with him which I've been enjoying. I'm used to WoW where I can run dungeons or kill rare mobs at really any level above 15-20 even in hardcore mode and get at least *something* from it. In OSRS the time investment needed between early game and late midgame where you can start PvMing consistently is *huge* and there's just not much in between that teaches you combat skills you'll need for high level PvM or rewards you for training combat. Unless you count killing Obor a few times just cause you had the key and high alched the drops

    Stronghold of security should be a dungeon with bosses after each floor that can give drops. Once you kill every monster in there or something.

    We do have dungeons, they just work differently. What needs to happen is that they need to be expanded on (like a zone or area boss in a lot of places)

    Couldn't agree more. There's no mystery to anything. No exploration. What's the point of creating a brand new landmass if you know everything about it as soon as it appears? It's like knowing a book the moment you look at it. It's like hell. It's the experience of "man I really wish I could experience that for the first time", except you never experience the first time.
