- March 2024 has been a big month for Mongoose Traveller 2e, and naturally I picked up all the new stuff. So, here's a look at all four new Traveller books from this month, all in one feature-length video!
In general I'm really pleased with all four releases. The Adventure Class Ships book opens up tonnes of new possibilities for player groups to try out, the Small Craft Catalogue adds a lot of interesting and flavourful small craft to the game, the new Companion is packed with excellent rules options and the excellent vector-based space combat chapter, and the new GM Screen is far more beautiful and better-organised than the previous one.
I do hope that Mongoose will come out with perhaps one (or more) additional GM Screens, in particular to support naval campaigns. These campaigns involve new elements like capital ships, crew efficiency and morale, and so on that aren't covered by the current screen, which clearly assumes a relatively standard Traveller game (i.e., a bunch of goofs mooching around on a small ship, having adventures). Similarly, a GM Screen for Mercenary campaigns would be great too, since they have additional combat and weapon options, plus the whole ticket system.
In any case, all of these new releases are well worth looking into if you're a Traveller fan. If you're new to Traveller, be sure to watch Seth Skorkowsky's amazing series of introductory videos here: • Traveller Overview

Thanks for this. There's so much great stuff for Mongoose Traveller that budgeting is definitely an issue! As someone who loves physical books for reading, it's good to see that, e.g. the Adventure Class book is mainly tables and maps so I can probably be happy with the PDF, but the Companion is definitely something I'd want in hardcopy. Really useful flip-through - I appreciate it!
Ive been collecting traveller since the 80s and I think Mongoose has the best information so far .
I used to play the original traveller. Good to know it's alive and well.
I finally found out what the customs ship was... so thanks a lot for that XD
🎉
excellent and very helpful review(s)
will mongoose have black friday sale or similar holiday event this year?
I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing not -- so far as I remember, they don't typically run sales at those times :'( Having said that, I've yet to feel dissatisfied with the content I've gotten for the prices I've paid.
