I've been avoiding Genshin for that exact reason. I know how addictive gacha games are from prior experience, I can only imagine how bad one that's actually fun is.

I got $3k deep into FGO's gacha (massive regrets), but so far I've maybe spent $200 on Genshin and it feels a lot more worth it because the pity system guarantees you a five star within a certain number of pulls. Granted I also feel a lot less of a desire to pull on Genshin's gacha too for whatever reason, so yeah.

As someone who finished them, yeah he will suffer if he don't start leveling up his characters,talents and weapons while artifact is not that big of a deal unless the artifacts stats are good or decent then go upgrade it but yeah artifacts should always be the last thing you should ever upgrades cause that is just gacha of its own

I watch plenty of genshin where they grind and do challenges and everything else, but fuck I've never enjoyed watching someone actually just play the plot and comment on it. Truly wonderful and definitely something I'm down to watch anytime.

Genshin's history worldbuilding is only beat by LotR and rare high fantasy novels in sheer complexity.

@@CrypticCobra Fate borrows a lot from irl, LotR (and Genshin) construct their own history and mythos. Fate is more comparable to Honkai. Genshin's complexity is very different from Honkai's complexity.
@@ancalyme Fate literally has hundreds of timelines, the most die hard of fate fans can't even piece together why or when things are actually happening. Anyone can look at a LotR story and actually comprehend what is going on. Believe me, this in not a compliment to fate. It is hands down far more complex, simply due to bad writing.
@@CrypticCobra I didn't say Fate wasn't complex, I said it had a different type of complexity. LotR has thousands of years of meticulously detailed history and genealogies and even multiples languages. Genshin is also doing that more superficially (minus the languages, it just borrows Latin instead).
But speaking strictly of Genshin, most of the complexity behind Genshin's lore comes from it being an incomplete trail of breadcrumbs where the histories are a mix of unreliable narrators, biased accounts and downright fiction so putting Teyvat's history together is very hard. A good example of that is the exact reason Orobashi had to die, and what we knew about it before Enkanomiya revealed Celestia's involvement. There are also like a dozen lost civilisations we barely know anything about.

Did you know the English VA of Zhongli, Keith Silverstein, also voiced Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter, Arsene Lupin in Lupin the 3rd AND (my personal favorite) Vector the Crocodile in Sonic the hedgehog. Yeah I'm not joking about that last one, dude's got some serious range

Bruh, I'm literally at that shameful weeb stage in life wherein YES, I do imagine them in Japanese. As a matter of fact, I recognize the mistranslations and like.. the idioms? So to answer that question, yes, some of us read English Manga with weeb language running through our heads.
I actually end up choosing Indonesian subtitles because the translation is just pure meme material and funny at this point.
English subtitle, although more accurate and has less typo, is quite formal and use less informal language. The Indonesian subtitle feels like it use daily conversation.

Ngl, Genshin's basically the flavor of the year(s) in the same vain as like how Undertale/Fortnite took over and you couldn't tell anyone you played it without taking a coinflip on the reaction you'll get
The base game and the amount of content is great (if not a slow burn, as you can really see the game develop as time went on)
but a lot of the loudest parts of the huge fanbase make the game look like a mess, especially on twitter, and the most popular vids on CZcams being gacha-tiddies-drama
The only way to enjoy yourself is literally just jump into it, play it for yourself, gather a few of your friends that at most will help you with bosses and character building, not force the gacha, and just come to your own conclusions. Which is extremely hard to do if you're trying to get into it now, and even as a streamer, since your chat'll be divided too lol
The timing of this addiction seemed questionable..but I knew if any of the boys restarted Genshin again it would be Grant regardless the initial motive
