      You can say what you want, but those improvements are quite impressive. It's like getting a generation or two newer GPU. I never really had FPS issues in the game, despite using a RTX 3060 12GB. That's not why I stopped playing a few months ago. That was because of a bug, I could not tolerante. It seems like that started with Sims 3. They just kept coming out with more and more stuff packs that seemed way over priced for what you got. • @theo.l7991
      @theo.l7991 Před 2 měsíci +210

      Thats because a lot of people (including me) have bought the expension pass for the game when preordering. And they cant just keep pushing DLCs back and leave those who paid 100$ for the game waiting even longer to get what they paid for.
      Also, Colossal had contracts with Paradox and were forced to release the game in the state its currently in. While I do agree that the game has a lot of bugs, compared to the first version of C:S1, its still a huge upgrade.

    • @WaffleExplainsItAll

      The DLC itself seems to be early access, too. They lied about the number of assets, there's nothing beach-related in it, not every size of building comes in multiple assets, what the hell is this company doing? I'm beyond done with these people. They're either incompetent or willfully creating a bad game.

    • @AlvinBrinson

      @@theo.l7991 I keep hearing this "contracts" excuse. It may be so, but nobody forced them to sign contracts requiring them to screw the customers with a broken/incomplete product. Certainly the people who paid $100 did not ask for a broken/incomplete product. "It's in the contract" isn't an excuse for the shiddy way this release has been handled. The fact they got themselves into a situation where that kind of contract exists is 100% Paradox's fault.

    what is dumbfounding to me is a beach DLC:
    - Doesn't use the new trees within the buildings gardens
    - doesnt use lighter colours for the buildings (to reflect sunlight, keep cool, seriously, black rooves!?!?)
    - no front gardens facing the sea?
    - a lack of pools, sunbeds, umbrellas, patio, in gardens
    - no beach content in the slightest like being able to create a beach
    - too many bungalows! the beach is valuable real estate, often beach side properties tend to be tall.
    - no unique buildings for hotels or commercial seaside cafes, heck no growable seaside cafes?
    I think its yet another insult to the community.

    • @CityPlannerPlays
      @CityPlannerPlays  Před 2 měsíci +37

      I thought about your first point in particular and I'm not sure that we know they don't do that. Without tropical maps, all of the assets would spawn with temperate landscaping. There is a chance that the foliage changes down the line when we have tropical or warm-weather maps.

    • @Wintergatanaddict
      @Wintergatanaddict Před 2 měsíci

      why would there be a front garden facing the sea if you need to connect the front of the house to a road? Plus its still early into the game itself and could possibly update later on e.g late 2024 or 2025, the pool part though is just absurd idk why its not there.. And with the bungalows and low houses, its meant to simulate a sort-of essence towards a Mediterranean or West coast vibe, sorta like luxury villas and what not, fair point though, and we might get cafes later on, potentially joined with another update. Hope that helps :)

If there were a nefarious actor trying to get malicious code on your system in CS2, they could simply source the plugin from one location and post a similar but sanitized version of it on Github and link to that.

Why does it continue to seem that CO is all about making a profit instead of taking care of it's players. In the end this will be the downfall of the company. I'm kind of sick of their formulae of profit over quality content already.

    Woah! That map tile editing option is really nice, I could see that being used in a scenario type way or in actual scenarios if that gets added. Maybe forcing you to unlock tiles in a certain order or by "zones". So you can have one tile that the scenario wants to to turn into a harbor area, another that's for farming, another for rich people homes and so on. Also that option also allows players to just simply have each one of the tiles be bigger and more like CS1 if they wanted to.

    I'm sorry, I have to call out the comments on pricing.
    I'm going to only use the radio station, as that is feature comparible.
    The price for CS:1 radio stations was set back in 2016 at $4, and the price for them in CS:2 has just been set at $5. Basic inflation has that $4 having a buying power today of about $5.25. Thus, the first radio station for CS:2 is actually cheaper (inflation adjusted) than the first radio station for CS:1.
    I personally hope that the staff are all being paid more than they were in 2016 - and that obviously costs more money to achieve. To me, that increase in price that isn't even matching inflation is something we should be thanking them for - not something we should be complaining about.
    The beach pack is a totally different story though - it's lack of content has me lost for words.

    Was really REALLY hoping the beach DLC's would add in some growables that would allow for some diversity...I would love to have multiple city types in this game, but it seems like we're going to get the same suburbia with a different back drop...that and the fact that you dont get any density? Its a game named after the skylines of cities...why we don't have any medium or high density is beyond me. When I think Beach, I think resorts...hell, I work a GIS based job for insurance and disaster relief, and every hurricane season we are reminded of the MASSIVE number of medium to high density that exists along beachfronts, massive sprawling condo complexes, rowhomes, high density apartment buildings, hotels, restaurants, shops, etc...
    Meanwhile these growables feel like suburbia in the midwest. Big L setting a big precident for what may come with future asset packs on this game.

    Why do the beach properties not use any of the new trees? They would look more tropical if they did but they just look suburban and "placeless" without them.

      Yes! Why do all the CS2 low density house lots not have a single tree on them! Even the most suburban, land-sprawling, deforestation-loving housing developments in the real world plant/keep more trees than what we find in game. It just leaves the place looking barren, and we have to leave space in between houses to manually plant trees. Its ridiculous!

    I was a little nervous about the Paradox mods, but this looks pretty slick so far. A lot better than some of in game mod hubs, like in Farming Simulator. Will be nice to see how it grows.

    This DLC is truly the worst Cities Skylines add-on that was ever released. A complete scam, and WAY overpriced. The buildings don’t look like beach properties to me and they are just recolours of one another. A poorly executed copy and paste job. We can’t even build beaches - what is the point of this DLC??? We still have 0 props. And locking trees behind a pay wall?? That is day-light robbery. I’m furious and will not be purchasing this DLC or any other content until the base game is fixed.

    Thanks for the review! I'm looking forward to browsing Paradox mods, and I agree it looks much more streamlined and integrated with the game compared to the Steam Workshop. The lack of a rating system is something that I hope they fix though. It's fine when you have a couple pages of mods, but I rely on the rating system for CS 1 when I'm browsing tens of thousands of assets. I want to know that I'm downloading the ones that have proven to be reliable and the rating system plus comments ensures that. The future is getting brighter.

    Wasn't having major performance issues with my town of 180k, it was the land value issue that killed my game. So glad to see that that's fixed. Was hoping for more gameplay fixes, but seeing performance is taking a real step forward is good. I've always thought it'd take to the end of the year for them to be able to dig out of this hole (that I think Paradox created for them), and it seems like they're on track for now. Really hoping someone uploads the default maps updated with new non-square tile boundaries immediately. That's so freakin' cool.

      @@prod.jup1t3r I own CS on ps4 and pc, for CS2 I don't own a ps5, so I am waiting to see if it gets any better over time for pc performance. I learned my lesson with CS, it was free one month on ps4 and it ran pretty good until higher population. PC it wasn't optimized well, you had to install a mod for better fps, so this will probably be a mod in CS2 again

    Houses all looking the same? Phil, did you forget that that is how places have been built since the 1940s? Just one house plan per building cycle, so hundreds of homes could be built fast.

      if your argument is leaning on the game trying to be "realistic," i dont feel like limited pool of assets for growable residential homes is worth the asking price for the DLC. i feel like when people heard "Beach Properties Asset Pack" they assumed tall skinny buildings on stilts and beach themed assets and props. i also assumed sea-side restaurants and shops, so commercial zone assets, but that's not here either. we got whole entire map packs for less than ten dollars in CS one. i know its a new game but i'm pretty mixed on this dlc, and so are a lot of other people. we're not being hateful, we're sharing much needed feedback.
