      The hike scene was highlighted in episode 1...Rosh and Ayub were talking about it whilst Simon was replying comments after the whole Marcus talking to the press thing happened

    I felt like the Royal Court absolutely knew that delivering all the messages through Wille would strain or break the relationship- and that was an added bonus in their eyes. Giving Simon the information directly only increased the chances of them making it work, which was not their goal.

    The reason that the whole argument with Wilhelm and Simon happened in the tent is bc yes Wilhelm was trying to connect with Simon’s friends by saying he was also working this summer in the ‘crown prince school’ and trying to take an interest in their lives as well, but Simon tried to tell him afterwards the reason he is frustrated is because being in a crown prince study course isn’t the same thing as having to be a working class citizen and getting a job at a young age just to make ends meet. Simon was frustrated with Wille for the fact that he was trying to compare two completely different scenarios for the sake of bonding and talking with Simon’s friends who have had to work from a very young age whereas Wilhelm gets all the opportunities and needs sorted for him bc of his position. And yes Wilhelm tries to counter that by saying that just bc he is in a position of power doesn’t mean that he can’t try to relate to Simon’s friends and other people his own age but I think Simon thinks he went about it in the wrong way/that it was unjustified and that’s why it was frustrating. It’s two people from two different backgrounds trying to workout how their differences affect their relationship, especially while being in the public eye. Hope that helps! Love your videos so much!

    The fact that rosh, ayub and marieberg classmate was in the woods when hillerska student was camping is actually hinted in the first episode of the season. When simon wants to answer comments on the Marcus interview, behind him you can hear ayub and rosh talking about going to hike in the woods.

    I really think the argument in the episode wasn’t needed for the narrative. It could have been a conversation about privilege, but it didn’t have to be a fight. Even with episode 4 and 5, those arguments are tough to watch but I understand the point of them. This one just made Simon seem unreasonable.
    I guess if they’re going for realism, teenagers aren’t that level-headed and Simon was probably embarrassed about how his friends were treated and taking it out on Wille. But Wille didn’t deserve it.

      I agree. It would've been nice to see Simon and Wille have more level-headed conversations about the more intense topics throughout the show, instead of so many of their interactions devolving into arguments when handling the serious themes.

    Hello! Thanks for your reaction! ❀
    It seems to me, that this episode is about we sometimes can't understand other people's problems, just as someone else does not understand ours: the richman can't imagine the poor and other way round .
    I agree about the rave in the forest, it's probably a forced scene, although maybe we couldn't read between the lines.
    I apologize for my bad English - it's not my native language. Thank you!

    I didn’t find the camping thing forced. Eventually the friend groups would interact and the class differences would be a problem. I mean they have been there since literally the first episode of season one. I think Simon was just irritated in general by how the rich kids were looking down on Simon’s friends for never having been to the US. Like they clearly don’t see their own privilege, and while I agree Wilhelm was trying to smooth things over and be more relatable to Simon’s friends, his execution just demonstrated that even he is naive to the reality of the disparity of their situations. And just on a side note, him shushing Simon like that was wild! If I was Simon we would be fighting. lol

    I totally agree without about Simon’s reaction to Wille in the tent. I thought Wille was just trying to relate to the friends and yes was really naive to his privilege. But he was innocent in his way of trying to be like them and saying he will be working hard over summer. I felt like Simone didn’t see that and just got mad at him. That camping trip could have been so much cuter, it turned to a big mess.

    I'm so surprised at how some reactors like you are feeling so down about this season, especially compared to season 2. Yes, there's drama, but it's more about how different they are and how they're trying to navigate this new reality of being in a relationship while being scrutinized by the public and having to fulfill all these expectations. It's the kind of drama I've always wanted to see, because it's interesting and realistic in a way, and neither Wille or Simon are being mean or doing things to hurt each other on purpose. There are also some beautiful, heartwarming moments between them that balance all the drama.
    On season 2 Wille was deeply depressed, everything was gloomy, the focus was on August and Sara, and Simon felt very out of character to me, with the whole Marcus storyline in which he was deliberately trying to hurt Wilhelm. There were no joyful moments between them, only arguments, and Wille feeling more and more lost. It felt like a soap opera, with all the miscommunication, jealously and pettiness.
    I think the writing is 100x better this season (definitely not perfect though) and I honestly didn't feel as sad and hopeless watching season 3 as I did watching season 2.

      @JackieRossLavender  Pƙed 3 měsĂci +6

      Yeah I don’t see why people have been disappointed by season 3. I’ve finished it completely over on Patreon and I loved it overall. Honestly the rave scene in this episode is probably my only real criticism of the whole season
 it just felt poorly written to me and very rushed.

      Speaking as someone who enjoyed this season overall (so this is just an educated guess), the second half of your comment can probably explain why so many people were put off by season 3. As you said, season 2 was full of drama, arguments and miscommunication between Simon and Wille. So coming into season 3, and seeing them having arguments that (arguably) could've instead just been level-headed conversations about their different perspectives, perhaps may have been a bit irritating after having to watch that for the entirety of last season. (For eg. the one at the end of this episode) I guess I can see why it'd seem a bit unnecessary and contrived.

  • @EmelynAbreu
    @EmelynAbreu Pƙed měsĂcem

    I think Simon explained really well, but what frustrated him was While comparing himself with the reality of a working class kid. He has worked since he was 14, and we must know what kind of jobs a 14yo latin boy has had.
    While putting them all of them at the same level, made Simon mad, just because they are not on the same level and he is tired of seeing privileged people pretending they have the same difficulty in life, they have not.
    None of them had to work their ass off to gain money so they could feed their kids, or will ever have to see their kids working at such a young age so they can have the minimum.
    I know While had the best intentions, he was trying to make Simon's friends comfortable, but as Simon said, he doesn't see how privileged he is. Simon has always been a very political person, he understands that this whole system is fucked up, and he know While belongs to the people that has continued to make de same system work.

    I feel like they wanted to make the conflict about privilege happen in this episode but failed in the execution. It seemed like an excuse to get the conversation started in the first place for plot reasons. I get the point, but I do not think that Wille's behavior warranted this kind of reaction from Simon.
    I don't think Wille worded it poorly, and I think Simon overreacted in this particular situation. However, his slightly hyper-aware response can also be taken to showcase his continued struggle with both Wille's position and the privileged youth at Hillerska, the apparent obstacle of being from "different worlds", as well as the conflict between Simon's principles as it relates e.g. class and the relationship he is in with both Wille and the monarchy.
    I realize that when discussing the need to check one's privilege we will disagree on when and where that is necessary, For me, the conversation in the tent was a bit more fair in highlighting Wille's blindness regarding his own privilege.

    I will say, that the Palace's PR actions in this show are SO unrealistic, that it does require me to take a BIG suspension of disbelief to get through everything. Simon would have been forced to sign an NDA back in season 1 when the sex tape was leaked, even if they deny Willie's involvement, cause he can still come out and say it was Willie. And once Willie went public, there would have been a whole host of things Simon would have been instructed on, from approved PR statements to accepted behaviors. Farima telling Willie to remind Simon not to post on social media would never have happened.
