Top 10 cultural facts about Cameroon:
1- Don't do eye contact with an older person when addressing them. Or a person higher up in hierarchy to you.
2- Don't offer a hand for a handshake to a more noble person or an older person, it's consider disrespectful when a younger and/or less noble person offers the hand in a handshake.
3- Don't offer a left hand for a handshake, it's disrespectful unless the right hand is incapacitated.
4- Don't use first names to address an acquaintance unless you have been given the greenlight to. Use mister or madam.
5- Cameroonians use aunties to address younger women, even when they're strangers and uncles for younger men, try to do same.
Older persons can be addressed as sirs or madams. You can use papa or mama for acquaintances.
6- Don't enter someone's carpeted room with your shoes on, even if they're clean. It's disrespectful.
7- When you meet someone first in a place of meeting, you as the new arrival offer a greeting first.
Always offer a greeting when meeting people it is considered very disrespectful otherwise.
8-Be sensitive to the dressing and music in the environment. Cameroonians like people to dress the part as appropriate to their circumstances. Eg people dress up for church and get togethers. It's seen as disdainful to dress down to such events.
Cameroonians are also particular about their music which they consider some of the best in the world, don't be harsh to judge it openly.
9- When offered food in a meeting, do oblige your host. Always turning down food is considered disrespectful except for health reasons.
10- Aside from music, be careful about debates on politics, religion and sexuality here. While Cameroonians are some of the most open-minded and friendlier people on the continent, they can be quite limited in their worldview on these subjects as well.
Also soccer /football and language disparities especially comparing english with french can be dicey topics here.

Hello. I'm Sean from the USA. Personally, I'm most interested in the Capitol and the wilderness preserve: elephants, hyenas, and Lamarckian giraffes are all of great interest to me. But it's Mount Cameroon your great Mountain Peak that would be the strongest attraction to my fellow Americans and Europeans. I know the tourist business. Thank you for inviting us to your beautiful, stable African country of Cameroon.

Not so much Swahili in Cameroon...
Additionally, its not safe to visit Mount Cameroon, the Bimbia slave port, or Waza. Mount Cameroon and Bimbia are in the South West province where there is a low intensity rebellion. Travel in and to Waza is dangerous due to Boko Haram.
Sorry to be a downer, but both regions are dangerous. Douala is a big, hot, and dirty place. Great music and food, but the crime and humidity take the fun out of it. Bamenda and Maroua are my favorite cities, but they are too dangerous at the moment.
