Does Mauritius have provinces - that's what I'd like to know. Again, thank you for your time.

    The Arabs (or arabo bantous; the Swahilis) knew the 3 islands of the Mascarenes, Reunion, Mauritius & Rodrigues and they had named these Dina Morgabin (westward island), Dina Arobi (Land of the Arabs) & Dina morare (eastward?); Dina might be a lost Arab name for 'island'!
    The western centered intellectuals afflicted with latent amnesia (even Muslims) deny this , even that these 3 islands are on the Tabula Rogeriana of Idrissi in 1126, visible as a triangle!
    Anyway it's a well known fact that Vasco & Colomb have used the maps of Idrissi for their explorations as hinted in the Indian film 'Chalk & Duster '!

      "It may be Africa but it is an island and therefore not on the continent."
      Now, I will ask you a question. What is Africa? I'm going to do you a favor by answering said question. Africa is.....now be careful, because this might get a little crazy.....a CONTINENT. (I KNOW! Crazy, ain't it?)
      Now, again, be careful....If Africa is a continent, and Mauritius IS Africa (remember, these are YOUR WORDS, now), how the hell is it NOT PART of Africa?
      We understand that it is an island (duh), just like Madagascar. And we ALSO know that it is not on the MAINLAND (Again, duh)...But, it is DEFINITELY part of east Africa's continental shelf.
      Yet, I'M geographically inept? I mean, the irony can't be overstated. LOL!

    • @johnshort5003
      @johnshort5003 Před rokem +1

      @@elevenb6967 You still seem to miss the point. I never said it was not part of Africa, I said it was not part of the African continent. For example: Britain geographically and politically belongs to Europe but is generally considered to be separate from continental Europe by virtue of being an island. And that is why many British refer to the rest of Europe as 'the continent'. To make things absolutely clear I would say: definition of an island is a land mass completely surrounded by water. A continent is a much larger land mass, generally connected to other land masses (eg Europe and Asia). The reality with Australia is, it is technically an island but, by virtue of its size, also a continent.
