  • Hello and welcome to Rich Textures Crochet!
Today we are going to learn how to crochet the Home for Christmas Stocking! This Stocking is made with a super bulky weight yarn and works up quickly.
For this project you will need an 8 mm crochet hook and about 212 yds of your favourite super bulky weight yarn. I have used two different colours. You will also need 1 stitch marker.
The full written instructions can be found for free on my blog here:

I love how quick this stocking is! I was knitting stockings for all my grandkids and it was taking forever. This one can be whipped out in a couple hours and it looks great! Thank you for sharing!

I decided to use my newfound free time to actually learn to crochet. I figured a stocking would be a good idea so I did some googling and found your video. I have tried and failed at crocheting over the years more times than I want to admit but finally with your help I have a stocking!!! I have never been more excited! Thank you so much!! 😊

@@RichTexturesCrochet do you have a written pattern for this stocking, I love it . The other ones I tried keeps you to finish off then you start off with a new color.

Okay...so now you are my favorite CZcams crochet channel. Did the men’s scarf a couple days ago, and today did this stocking. Super quick and easy Peasy. If I had not taken any breaks to dink around, this would have been a two hour stocking. Best of all I need to diminish my yarn stash and have WAY too much thick and quicks in the crimson stripe (red and white candy cane) and spartan stripe (evergreen and white stripe). With the yarn alternating solid and then “color and white” my stocking did not require any additional color control. It came out to a self color change every two rows. It is perfectly rustic for our Montana log home if we get to go there for Christmas this year. Because it was more rustic than your two color version in the video, I skipped the cuff. I really feel this is the best looking crochet stocking on YT! Thank you once again for an easy pattern and excellent tutorial skills. Now to make a few more...

Thanks, that was so clear to follow! I will be making this for my niece, hopefully in time for her first Christmas. My sister has requested a really really big stocking, so I'm going to give doubling this pattern a go. Wish me luck!

Thank you so much for sharing your talents. You are a great teacher. You talk slowly and clearly. You voice is easy on the ears and I didn’t have to listen to the distraction of music some people use. I love how you incorporated the chunky yarn with the blhdc stitch! I’ll be making this for a Christmas heir loom for my daughter. My ONLY suggestion is that maybe you can use a different colored hook than the yarn so beginners can see exactly where you’re inserting the hook. Well done please keep your beautiful work coming. 💜

      @RichTexturesCrochet  Před 4 lety +1

Thank you so much! And I’ll look into a different coloured hook instead of the lighter with the lighter yarn :)

    Lovely stocking, thank you 😊
I hate working in a round though, especially with colour changes so I would just join with a ss.
I think the heel is a bit confusing though! I know they can be a bit tricky!

Were I to use the average 4 ply Red Heart acrylic yarn, and say about a size G, H, I, or J (please suggest one) sized hook, do you reckon that it would probably make the size or warm winter "ŕun around in the house" stocking that would fit on my fat extra wide sized 11 swollen feet?

yes, it can be challenging to find - especially in the bulkier yarns where the stitch is not as defined. I have another video tutorial where I demonstrate only that stitch using a worsted weight yarn. You can see if it helps to clarify it at all: czcams.com/video/fYc4IHu8DQU/video.html

Thanks so much. I did switch to a acrylic yarn.which has helped define the stitches better for me! It did get easier after getting further along in pattern! Love it, Thanks for your support!

I think there is an error in this video or the written pattern. The pattern says for row 1:
Sc in next 2 sts, sl st in next, turn
In the video you dont sl st before turning meaning that on row 2 you work one rather than both sc sts into colour b on rnd 16. Can you tell me which is correct?
