My 2013 Chevy Avalanche had a "MID" gate that worked the exact same way🙂

Yes, I have a bunch of videos on my channel about that. I still have my avalanche and I have the F150 lightning. I just wish that they made this truck more competitive and price to the F150 then I could’ve bought that instead.

Lots of talk about "the Frunk was deeper but not as wide" and "detaching load"....

That midgate is so useless. Maybe at best 10% of people will use it 3 times a year but we all have to pay for it and the problems it brings. Lets just remove the kids seats, and leave the kids and dogs at home because we need to haul something longer that 6'. IT''S A TRUCK. JUST HANG IT OUT THE BACK, like we have done for 100 years. Also if it is raining, snowing or freezing out, now your'e maxing energy use to try and keep warm. Such a stupid idea. JUST MAKE THE DAMN TRUCK LONGER SO REAL MEN CAN USE IT.

Wrong on many counts. That midgate is exactly why I'm buying this. As a Ram owner, I've hung my loads out the back and it always makes it hard to manage loads longer than 10-feet. I do construction and this will allow me to carry longer loads upto 20-feet (11 inside + 9 outside). And when I'm kayaking, I could use the single seat drop down and pass through to store just the kayak while still carrying 4 people fully protected from the elements as the glass can stay up and the tonneau cover seals the bed. Brilliantly executed except that the closeout panel on the rear seat back is raised over the bed floor. For those that want a regular work truck without the midgate, try the Chevy Silverado EV WT.

@@vipahman if you have 9 feet hanging out of the back of your truck you’re a danger to society which explains why you like this truck, you’re not very intelligent. Good luck sticking a kayak in there and getting four people in the cab. That’s what roof racks and trailers are for. Let me know how that brilliant idea works out for you.

@@vipahman I’m assuming you’ve never had the Midgate. But here I am a contractor and I use my truck for personal use. I use that Midgate functionality all the time we even can’t inside of it with our heads in the cabin as you can see in one of my videos. I must’ve used it at least three times a week and if somebody else who owns the vehicle didn’t use that function it’s probably because they didn’t know it was there.

The amount of automotive youtubers that have no idea that the Chevy Avalanche had the removable back glass plus foldable back seats to elongate the bed is disturbing. This is not even a new feature they just left it out of models for over a decade hoping the majority of truck people "forget" about it being a thing. every video I've watched on this or the Silverado EV are all the same. "This new "midgate" feature is Great!!"

To the contrary, almost every review of the Chevy Silverado EV starts with something like "This is an electric Avalanche" etc. It's a beaten horse by now. I'd argue most people don't care about it, just judge the new vehicle on its merits.

I think the midgate is a bad idea. Not going to wear good.

Yes, it will wear out, just like doors. Should never have included those either.

It's a cool concept but in reality if you need to move something that large use a trailer. If you don't have one rent one for 50 bucks! I am curious what other trims will cost without that mid gate. Have to imagine that is a 3 to 5k upgrade...?? Any one know when they will offer other trims?

GMC has had a mid gate for like 20 years in those avalanche trucks they aren’t bad
