By no means do you have to support but Mrs. Gibson and I really appreciate the support as it goes a long way since most of these videos are copyrighted or blacklisted by YT. Lots of time goes into recording, editing, researching, and providing encouraging words throughout each reaction/review so this is an OPTION for those that are able to do so. DO NOT if finances are tight and priorities need to be taken care of first.

One of the greatest songs of all time. Thanks Gibby
Thanks for the love and support family!
2nd this!
If you guys watch the mash up of women listening to this, I SWEAR YOU CAN SEE THEM FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS DUDE BRO. THEY SIT THERE IN COMPLETE AWE THAT ITS A WHITE MAN SINGING THIS SHIT LIVE. NO AUDIO TUNE
@@vinniewheeler5441 Yes! I am embarrassed to admit this, but one night I watched over three hours worth of reaction videos just of this one song!
THE BEST!!!°
They say he smiled at the end because his mom was in the audience and he knew he hit his high note.
I read both his mom and dad, and despite his calm, cool demeanor, he was as nervous as hell, really wanted to impress his parents. Just goes to show, even the are ordinary people.....with a gift, talent.
@@paulhansberry8168 and he had a bad cold. One can hear it when he talked to andy. From GER
I’ve read that his breathiness was due to the duo having just ended a song. But the cold is mentioned from various sources, so it may be a combination of adrenaline, shortness of breath, nerves - the ensuing performance of Unchained Melody is all the more amazing . @@sylviabuck3369
@@sylviabuck3369exactly .
And he was so nervous he lost his lunch before performing.
Nobody can sing this better than Mr Bobby Hatfield in my great opinion ❤❤❤❤ RIP
One of the most beautiful song all times. This song has 4 Guinnes world record.
Thank you for listening to this for me. I'm 72 yrs and never get tired of hearing Bobby singing ths beautiful music. This is baby boomer music!!!❤❤❤❤
This was sung LIVE in 1965 .. no auto-tune, no naked dancers, no smoke or mirrors ... just pure raw talent and blue-eyed soul ... Bobby had an amazing range of 4+ octaves and could reach high notes that even some sopranos could not reach! Also, Bobby sang this while suffering from a head cold, and the high note he hit at the end was full voice, NOT FALSETTO!
To find out how they got their name, watch this full performance in the Andy Williams Show .. czcams.com/video/m0EBs6uRgtw/video.html ... enjoy! Righteous Brothers are two guys who are not actually brothers, they are a duo. But this is a solo song so they flipped a coin to see who would sing it .. this is Bobby Hatfield, and the other member of the duo was Bill Medley who arranged the music for this performance .. and he did so well with that, building up the music to the passionate end, so credit to Bill Medley too .. I also read that Bill Medley played the piano in the background for the studio version of this song. This performance was done live, (with no auto-tune or other devices used by today’s musicians) and was better than the recorded studio version. Bobby suffered from stage fright and was particularly nervous in this performance because his parents were in the audience... you can see him bite his lip then grin at the end because he knew he nailed it!
One of the most iconic performances in music history- this Bobby's song; NOBODY does it better.
There has never been enough adjectives to describe Bobby. It just comes down to greatness. Pure talent, emotions, he put his heart and soul into everything he sang. I have been a fan since 1963, I was 21 years old. To this day, there is no one who could ever touch him, then or now. Bobby, I love you, miss you, and thank you for leaving us such a beautiful legacy.
I'm 76 and have listened to this great song over and over. Never get tired of it.
This is considered THE BEST performance of one of the best songs in history
#1song, #1 performance!!!!! PERFECT, FLAWLESS!!¡
Many have covered Unchained since '65, but none have even come close to equaling Bobby's perfomance. It is Bobby's masterpiece
One man with the voice of an angel and a mic. No gummicks just pure talent.
Bobby Hatfield was 26 years old when he sang this ... same age as you Devin. He was at the height of his powers - his voice was so strong and pure and he was able to hit every note to absolute perfection. This ranks as one of the greatest love songs of all time. Great reactions Devin.
And you’ll notice back in our age they had Pure Talent no Auto Tune just pure talent. The song was in the movie Ghost 👻
Being in Ghost put Unchained back on the charts at #1 some 25 years after it first topped the charts. I think that's a solitary record that still stands today
Sadly, most people who know this song, have never heard this version - which is vastly superior to his radio/record version that everyone has heard. This is far more powerful and dynamic.
And he's not bad to look at, either.
@@Mrs.Patriot Bobby was the most handsome man I have ever seen, the best Tenor I have ever heard. I could say so much more.
@@dawnaberry8452 Elvis was the most handsome man i have ever seen. He looked so much better in the sexy flesh. love from Memphis Tn.
@@p.j.morris633 i agree, elvis was more handsome, very beautifull. Sorry but bobby hat the better voice, unbelievable and great. From GER
Bobby hits 20 notes in this masterpiece…LIVE~ no auto tune
BOBBY HATFIELD WAS KNOWN AS THE COUNTER TENOR AND HAD A GREATER VOCAL RANGE THAN BILL MEDLEY WHO WAS KNOWN AS A BARITONE.
BOBBY SUNG THIS SONG SO SMOOTHLY, SWEETLY, SENSUALLY WITH SOUL GRIPPING PASSION THAT WAS SO PURE, CLEAN, ELEGANT, CLASSY AND POWERFULLY BEAUTIFUL.
BOBBYS VERSION WAS THE ONE USED IN THAT FAMOUS FILM "GHOST" STARRING PATRICK SWAYZE & DEMI MOORE. THIS VERSION AND THAT FILM WERE A PERFECT MATCH
I HAVE HEARD MANY VERSIONS OF THIS SONG INCL ELVIS, DIAMOND, HUMPERDINCK & OTHERS,BUT BOBBY SANF THIS SONG THE BEST. HE TRULY OWNS THIS SONG.
I HAVE SEEN MANY GIRL REACTORS TO THIS AND MOST WERE SO EMOTIONAL OR TEARY OR SPEECHLESS OR OVERWHELMED OR SIMPLY "fell in love" WITH BOBBY & SONG
If you notice when he is on stage, he has so much of himself into the lyrics, he has many variations. They are honest feelings of what he is singing and very effective. I love him.
I LEFT THAT MESSAGE 2 YEARS AGO AND THIS REACTOR (DEVIN) NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED MY COMMENTS.
BUT, THANKYOU CAROLYN FOR YOUR REPLY > TAKE CARE FROM EMILIO IN ADELAIDE CITY IN AUSTRALIA@@CarolynMotes
That’s got to be one off the best live performances ever wow stunning 👍
Bobby was flexing his pipes here for his parents in tbe audience. The man could have sung opera as a counter tenor if he'd wanted to.
Seriously you never heard unchained melody, has to be the most beautiful classic of all time, glad you got to hear it😉
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The undisputed GOLD standard for this song. It will be a million years from now.
This is widely considered to be the greatest live solo male performance.
Every time I hear this song, and watch him finish it, I think my God he makes it look so easy!! What a talent he was.
Even though there’s been many renditions of this song this has been declared the best. For your information this is called Blue Eyed Soul and and this is what pure talent really is. One man, one microphone plus the fact that this was live.
Their music was known as "blue eyed soul". A duo way before their time.
The satisfied smile at the end when he hit that perfect note was for his mom who was right up front. Proud of her boy, I'm sure!
This was the#1 slow dance song in the 60's and still is today!🥴
RIP to the great Bobby Hatfield -- the best live performance of all time. No one else can touch that. Not only was he an insanely gifted singer but apparently a phenomenal baseball player as well.
Gibby, please react to You've Lost That Loving Feeling, if you haven't already.
Yeah, the L.A. Dodgers wanted to sign him to the majors, but thank God he chose music!
Lori you are absolutely correct. Bobby made this song his own. He was a counter tenor. A very blessed man, with a god given voice. We are still hearing his beautiful music, after all these years. He is dearly missed.
the ultimate slow dance song of the 60;s Bobby melted hearts everywhere.
I think this is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. And Bobby Hatfield was really a looker too !!! We (school friends) loved him and Bill Medley !!! 🌺🌺🌺. I read that his parents were in the audience during this performance !!! 🌺🌺🌺
HI DEVIN, CAN YOU BELIEVE A PERFORMANCE LIKE THIS FROM BOBBY HATFIELD FROM BACK IN 1965. THIS IS WHAT WE NOW CALL "X-FACTOR PLUS" TRULY AMAZING & B E A U T I F U L
I APPRECIATED YOU ALLOWING THE SONG TO BE SUNG UNINTERRUPTED. SOME REACTORS GO TOO FAR, STOPPING TO COMMENT FAR TOOOO MUCH. BUT YOU DID NOT - YOU DID WELL.
Yeah baby!! Amen and Hallelujah to Bobby Hatfield....
RIGHTEOUS!!!
Bobby was a tenor, hitting high notes was his forte. You should react to You've Lost That Loving Feeling by the Righteous Brothers, it features both of them
Countertenor actually... huge range...and incredible vocal talent
One man telling his woman how he really feels! And he makes it look sooooo easy which it isnt!
Setting: Bedroom
Status: Honeymoon
Action: Bobby Hatfield serenades his new bride
Reaction: Wife dies happily in his arms
Moral: Sing to your woman! 😝♥️
In this era of music they understood the importance of not just singing a song, but feeling the song. Bless you, much love from South Africa💜🇿🇦
Suffering from an upper respiratory infection that left him short of breath, Bobby also had to deal with a severe case of stage fright; before every show he would lose his lunch, sometimes rather violently. As if he didn't already have enough to deal with, his mother was in the audience watching her 25-year-old son performing live for the very first time and he was terribly concerned about disappointing her.
I think it's safe to say the he did not disappoint his mom, anyone in the audience or the 70,000,000 folks out in TV land with his late October treat.
Someone once said that young Mr. Hatfield's song was responsible for an 8% increase in the number of births in July of '66.
Another person stated that, after the applause died down, you could hear the sound of dozens and dozens of damp panties hitting the floor.
RIP Bobby Hatfield.
Never get tired of this song....great reaction!!!
Bobby Hatfield ~ RIP💙
I was 10 yo when he sang this on the Andy Williams show. Did you know, his folks were in the audience, thus the big smile, for them!!
In his day, it was called "Blue Eyed Soul".
Rock and Roll Heaven.
I graduated from high school in 1969 so this was the music we girls adored. We danced to and made out with. TY for making this 71 year old so happy 😘 And NO Autotune!
That be Bobby, my friend. R.I.P. Bobby
Bobby Hatfield sang that to the heavens
I love your reactions…you don’t keep pausing and you really enjoy what your listening to. Thank you. This song makes me cry every time I hear it. Thanks again!!! 💫✨❤️
You couldn't tell, but Bobby was very nervous as his mother was in the audience that night and this was a live performance. He knew that he nailed it as evidenced by the lip bite at the end. The notes he hit in the end couldn't be reached by most male singers. Many, many babies were born 9 months after this performance. This is what we called, "Baby making music."
I remember watching this on tv when I was young. The Andy Williams show and the Ed Sullivan show always had very talented people on their shows. The music if the 60s had an amazing impact on music.....especially Motown !
The talent of the 60s has never been duplicated. I'm a 63 year old white man and I still enjoy the music of the 60s , but Motown is one of my favorites
Bobby killed it
I am enjoying your classics series. Seeing young people taking in and enjoying music from different generations is what music exists for. 👍
Eric Clampton was also terrific. #WONDERFUL TONIGHT"
"TÈARS IN HEAVEN"
Bobby had a cold when he did this performance. His parents were in the audience so he wanted to make sure he was perfect. At the end when he bites his lip he knows he nailed it. He was 24 when he sang this
Prime example of pure charm talent and professionalism. Bobby shows his blue eyed soul in every song he sings. I love how he teased the vowels. His sincere heartfelt delivery touches men and women. Thanks Bobby Hatfield you are missed.
The song is written about a man in prison written to his lady on the outside.
This is Bobby Hatfield [tenor] on a live performance on the "Andy Williams Show" along with his singing partner, Bill Medley [baritone]. Many get confused on this song as there is only one singer.
They just can't see a baritone, Bill, even come close to pulling this song off. But there was a total great segment with Andy Williams, who also was a great singer. The three of them laughed a bit and did a jovial "Baby Whatcha Want." That cute smile and biting his lip and nodding? He was nodding to his mom who was in attendance on William's show. And that was Andy William's orchestra. Hard to believe pulling off a live performance like this today.
If you really want to know why they are called "Blue Eyed Soul" react to "I Just Want to Make Love to You" which is sung mainly by Medley. To my ear it's jazz and soul.
MelodyLand, across from Disneyland, 1965. I was there.
These were the days before auto tune... raw talent. No fake apparatus to help them sound better!!
I'm going on 60 and I love this song so much. It was the first song I ever danced to with my husband, so in addition to being beautiful and masterfully sung, it will always have a special place in my heart.
Bobby Hatfield sang this classic. If you want to hear both , you can react to " You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Others include Rock N Roll Heaven, Ebb Tide, Once In My Life, Little Latin Lupe Lu, You'll Never Walk Alone and many others. Can you react to a great song titled Piano Man by Billy Joel. Thanks . Best of success to your channel.👍👍💯
You know that man pulled some women back in the day….biting on that lip at the end and smiling with those gorgeous blue eyes…..it would have worked on me!!! Lol!!! What a talent. I’ve listened to this song my entire life. My aunt gave me a tape of “oldies” hits and it was on there. I love it. What a talent. Rip Bobby. ❤️
No special microphones oh, no special Sound Studio. Just pure Raw Talent! Blue-eyed soul baby
Bobby Hatfield said he was so nervous because his mother was in the audience that night. You should listen to You've Lost That Loving Feeling and you will hear Bill Medley. There was no auto tune back in the day, you had to have real talent and these guys had lots of it.
A lot of us grannies lost our virtue in the back seat of our boyfriends car and righteous brothers on the radio. I heard that some musician friends called out to the one day after rehearsal and said “that was righteous, brothers” and so the name according to legend ☮️🤘🏽🔥👵🏼
Hes hit over 20 notes.
And this was when people really knew how to sing for real
And those high notes were NOT falsetto. Bobby was a "counter Tenor, " could hit notes that a lot of sopranos couldn't reach. From Baritone range to G5 he had 20 notes from bottom to top. H was a natural high-register Tenor, the greatest ever!
@@dawnaberry8452 could you please explain the difference between falsett and counter tenor? I read it here in germany and it sounds as if this words meaning th same. Thanks
Very good comments ! Bobby’s upright posture, bold choice of clothes, diamond studded ring on his pinky, suave demeanor etc exude confidence and masculinity. His flights into the stratosphere stun everyone, but it’s his low notes that make my tummy wobble ( ‘godspeed your love’ ). The chest resonance makes these notes sound so soulful, so meaningful. Stunning and classy. Also, note how he uses the musical flow to create a mix of pure vocalization (yodeling on the vowels) and conversational storytelling. His subtle emphasis on consonants (b, d, g, etc) makes the words perfectly clear. He takes us on an amazing journey.
Terrific reaction to a beautiful, classic song by the beautiful Bobby Hatfield
Loved, just loved your reaction, Devin! I was 23 y.o. when Bobby sang this live on The Andy William’s Show in 1965. Every woman in America instantly fell in love with him. He was the best! Beautiful, perfect performance by a beautiful man! 🥰
I bet Bobby's singing coach said to him (when he did a final version of the song) 'If you sing like this, in front of an audience - I guarantee you, they will be raving about it for years', and he was right. Here we are, 57 years later (2022) , and it is still, by far, the best version, ever sung. A lot of the reactions we've seen (on youtube), of people watching it for the first time, have been from people, simply giving their opinions about it - but if you want a real professional, giving his take on it, then go to czcams.com/video/boXkA9G5PL4/video.html called 'British guitarist analyses the Righteous Brothers live in 1965'. He will even give you the musical notes Bobby sang (20 of them), when he performed his stunning rendition of it - no auto-tune required!
This is the most beautiful orchestration and singing I have ever heard of 'Unchained Melody.' The string section by the NBC Orchestra from the (Live) 1965 'Andy Williams Show' was to die for.
Bobby Hatfield of the 'Righteous Brothers' and the NBC Orchestra's live version of the classic song written by composer Alex North with Lyrics by Hy Zaret for the 1955 Prison Movie 'Unchained' (55). Has been considered by many in the music industry as the greatest live performance in television history. Brilliant!
I like watching reactions from millennials like you who hear the music I grew up with for the first time I love watching as we share this experience God bless you my brother enjoy
Touches your heart, doesn't it?
Listen to You've Lost that Loving Feeling, Soul & Inspiration, See that Girl, Just Want to Make Love To You,
Righteous Brothers are Blue Eyed Soul & were a class act. Saw them in 1965 in San Diego...amazing.
🎶🎶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Be still my heart
You just met Bobby Hatfield, the embodiment of Blue Eyed Soul.
Genre: "Blue-Eyed Soul"! LIve TV broadcast of Bobby Hatfield's interpretation. Original song written in 1955 for prison movie titled "Unchained." Lyrics are an inmate's worries, longings, hopes, feelings, doubts about his woman -- will she wait, over the course of time, for him to come home to her loving arms. You may have heard this in the movie "Ghost." A classic for sure!
Pure Talent...sharp ,clean...talented
One of the greatest performances ever! Loved your reaction too.
That was righteous brother.
I saw that performance on TV when I 17 yrs old. It was alive performance. Bobby was a natural.
That little smile at the end just kills me!!🥰❤❤❤👍👏👏👏He just knew he nailed it, plus his parents were in the audience for the first time!! Love it!!
Huge fan of theirs, fortunate to have grown up in the 60s. Soul and Inspiration, For once in my Life,. Rock n Roll Heaven are great also. Bill, the other brother had a great solo hit in 1968. Brown Eyed Woman. Best video is at the Playboy Club. Best success on yr channel
Story goes that he was ill (with a cold) but his mum was in the audience and he wanted to give a good performance to make her proud 😁 (not sure but think this was the first time she saw him on stage)
"OH shit" the perfect reaction.
It's all been said before, so I'll just add a comment about YOU - - Great reaction and thanks for NOT interrupting like so many others.
Bobby sang another version of this song for the movie “Ghost “ and this revived interest in the 1965 studio version which was then re-released. The Righteous Brothers and this song made history by having two different versions of the same song in the Top20 of the charts at the same time, competing against each other!
Bill Melody is still performing and singing today. He has performed by himself, with is Daughter and now with Bucky..No performer will ever do this song like Bobby Hatfield they have tried but don't come close.Remember this was live(just his voice and a small microphone) No do overs.Yiu did you homework but they were inducted into the ROCK and ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2003 a few months later Bobby passed away. BOBBY'S voice was from the heavens. You should listen to Your my soul and my heart Inspiration ❤ There were so many
Love your reaction cuz, your just like the song, an obsolute classic
Listen to all their songs Devin. That was Bobby and totally his song because only he can sing it this way. Other songs are “YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING”, “MY SOUL & INSPIRATION”, ROCK & ROLL HEAVEN”, “LITTLE LATIN LUPE LU”, “YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE”, “HE WILL BREAK YOUR HEART”, “I JUST WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOU”, and many many many other hits. You will love them all.
You need to also listen to Soul and Inspiration, Ebb Tide and Guess Who by The Righteous Brothers. This was an era where singers could actually sing without any mechanical help except a microphone, they could actually carry a tune and you could understand every word.
Check out ebb tide, his version of summertime, my prayer. He did those songs, as a solo artist. What a " blessed man". He was 25 y/o at this time.
He made this song his own. He was a counter tenor, with such a range of octave (s). Bobby we miss you, you are still singing in the choir.
In 1955 there was a very forgettable movie called "Unchained". It's about a convict in a medium-security prison who is torn between his need to finish his sentence and get back to his wife and family, and his desire to escape the confines of prison. He only has a short time before he gets out when he hears that his wife is leaving him because she's tired of waiting. He has a chance to escape and be with her right away, so he has a choice to make. The movie producer was asked by a record producer what the name of the theme song was and was told "It doesn't have a name". The record producer recorded the song and just called it "Unchained Melody". It's been covered by more than a hundred artists.
Devin...Fun Fact....You've Lost that Loving Feeling by the Righteous Brothers is the most requested and played song of the 20th century!!!
Man, been viewing your videos for a while now and I gotta say Bro, you are a blessing with Christian values and such an awesome personality.
Bobby and Bill were just incredible vocal talents...and an even better Duo.
They were "Blue-eyed Soul".
Bobby did look like a real life Ken Doll...he actually passed up being a professional baseball player
heard that comment a few times and still makes me laugh....and so true, too!
The RIGHTEOUS BRO. Music as with others as BLUE EYED SOUL !
Listen to there other songs ,CLASSICS!!!!!
I watched this on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I was 14.
This music was written in 1955. This is common music that came out of the 50’s and 60’s.
Hi Gibby your reactions to this song is a sight to behold. You and Bobby are awesome to watch. Luv u both!!!!
This is mine & my husbands song. I met him in 1965. Got married 1966. I was 16. Him 19🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶💕💕💕💕
One of my top favorite songs of all time love them
Brother you just made me a subscriber. Love the reactions. Honestly great videos. God Bless you my friend.
This was my wedding song in 1991
Devin this guy's high notes are out of this world. Right up there with Steve Perry! You are such a sweet guy. You remind me of my son. LOL! God bless!
Love the reaction. What I like the most about the older music is raw talent, no computer enhancements.
