This has to be the best footage from the volcano on the web, It shows the scale and power just waiting to burst out of the crater. And to the Drone Pilot. Outstanding footage. 10/10.
This is spectacularly shot and the timing on the crescendo with the left to right reveal of the crater is perfect. Beautiful. This video is one for the ages.
That was some brilliant drone footage. Completely lost my bearings as to where the lava was going but I don't care. Looking into the crater and watching the lava pour down the tube was fascinating, and the soundtrack was perfect too. Thank you.
Low-viscosity flows that last for a while tend to roof over, forming tubes. This tends to insulate the lava, enabling to stay fluid for longer distances than it would if exposed to air. Very often, the supply will cut off and the tubes will drain, leaving the empty tubes. Old ones can be visited in California, Hawai'i, and other places.

I can’t imagine the excitement geologists and volcanologists must feel right now. Being able to actually see a shield volcano built from first eruption to completion (someday). Drones are incredible! This video is the best yet for seeing the crater in all it’s amazing glory. Fantastic video!

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to see this in my lifetime, through the generous work of others with similar appreciation of this vast wonder of earth-building. That whole back shelf wall falls off later date during lower lava output. Seeing this view shows that back piece of crater side was quite large and helps explain big bellows of dark smoke we will also see later.

Ok WOW! I’ve been watching this on YT since it began but this is the first time I understand how BIG this thing got! That last drone shot looking back up from the lava tubes to the crater - amazing, I expect to see two Hobbits and Gollum running up the sides... it looks like Mordor (freely admit to being a Tolkien geek, lol). Excellent view of the lava draining from the crater lake into the lava tube. Without this drone footage surface viewers would be completely oblivious to the amazing underground structures that have been created by this volcano.

Hello Nancy.... this May seem a strange thing to ask... but anytime I see a person with a family name similar to yours I try to ask this...do you know of anyone with your last name who was an aircraft electrician in the Air Force in late 80’s early 90’s...? Reason I’m asking is I spent 8 years as such and wanted to try to contact some of the vets I worked with back then, if at all possible.... bad part is my memory is very vague of that time period and it is difficult for me to recall names and such.....

As moving as this clip is, I am especially taken with the one that closes out the video with a beautiful shot of a spent and empty vent. It did resume activity later, I believe. But that was an especially good cinematic touch. Kudos to you for spending this effort upon us.
