- This is a video recording of a complete "Concert on the Avenue" at the US Navy Memorial with performances by the US Navy Band, US Navy Band Sea Chanters and US Navy Ceremonial Guard and Drill Team on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. on July 25, 2017.
The Concerts on the Avenue series, featuring the United States Navy Band and Navy Ceremonial Guard, is presented on select Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. during the summer at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington. The concert series began in 1997 and combines a wide variety of music in addition to precision drill by the Ceremonial Guard.
Following the presentation of the state and territorial flags of the United States by the Navy Ceremonial Guard, the Navy Drill Team executes their flawless demonstration of close order drill, coordination and timing. These Sailors carry 1903 Springfield rifles, all with 10-inch fixed bayonets.
The Navy Band Sea Chanters is the United States Navy’s official chorus. The ensemble performs a variety of music ranging from traditional choral music, including sea chanteys and patriotic fare, to opera, Broadway, and contemporary music.
Each year the concert highlights naval history and heritage, honors our fleet and pays tribute to our nation’s veterans. This family-friendly concert features a variety of musical genres, including current radio hits and iconic American music as well as patriotic standards.

Goosebumps and tears.......it breaks my heart to see what's happening in our country today.
Yes, why do I always get tears with this kind of ceremony? When I hear the National Anthem, Is it because my father was a Navy veteran who fought in the South Pacific during WWII, he joined at age 17 with his mother’s permission. He died on his birthday in 2017 at age 93. This means so much to me because without the men of his generation we wouldn’t have this. You people are the best. Thank you for your service.

Beginning at 47:10, the music brought back some sad memories for me, a former active duty Naval Officer. It began with The Navy Hymn, a song that was played whenever we performed a memorial service for an officer or sailor who died no matter what the cause. And the second song was Taps, something that is played at every military funeral. Rest in peace to all who passed away while serving in the military.

I went down to there Christmas concerts in 2019, and I was totally blown away by them. That was the first time that I got to see them in person. It was an experience that I will never forget. Everyone in the Sea Chanters and the Navy Band that I was able to talk to was so nice and friendly.

I hope that the female singer does an album (if she hasn't already!) i would totally buy one! I LOVE that, during the Armed Forces Salute (that's how i knew it when we played it in my district wide symphony orchestra, 20+ years ago), The conductor turns around and salutes, for each branch!!
Since childhood, I've always been fascinated & in awed with military parades. Marching in straight lines sometimes teary eyed watching them. My 1st cousin was a retired US Navy & lives in Jacksonville, Florida. We are Asians

This is still the BEST Concert on the Avenue Series so far. Especially the "In the Mood" medley, so much fun. Love all your efforts and quality work. You are all AMAZING!

They captured the pzazz that typified The Glenn Millar band-era , and which the USAAF wanted Glenn to inject into their band in order to raise morale.
The other services followed suit when the morale greatly improved, and IMO, the US Navy Band and Sea Chanters just keep adding more and more genres to their reptoire, ergo they raise not only USN morale, but all the CZcamsrs who click on them!
Gotta say, in general I prefer the male voice, but the gals singing "In The Mood" were terrific, especially the gal beside Bill Edwards
(She was a nice mover too!) :-)
Listening to "In the Mood" reminds me of one of my uncles who served as an enlisted man in the US Army during World War 2. He loved to dance the jitterbug to this song. Swing it Uncle Walter! And rest in peace.

Cliedo Cladidahopper Why would you say that’s a good thing, I think this a morale booster and I think it’s great. But my two children were in band all through grade and high school and I love bands. These people are fabulous musicians and entertainers. My dad was at the battle of Midway. My parents loved that music Like In the Mood. I grew up dancing to it in our living room.
I was in Unit Band 145 on the U.S.S. Shangri-La and U.S.S. Randolph 1964-65, then 1st Naval District Band in Boston 1965-67...I loved it---all 5 years, 1 month and 28 days' Navy duty! We were there, Clem!
