Accidental recorded this song (on tape) when I was a teenager in the 90's and was living in Mexico city due to dad's job. Anyway, best Accidental recording ever! This man's voice matches his physical appearance. HOT!

They were quite big in Europe, but only for their eponymous first album (which I have on CD). After that, they disappeared from the limelight.

I am surprised and amazed that this band has hardly received any attention in their home country and is actually unknown. Cock Robin is great, their music is wonderfully beautiful and Cock Robin is one of the best bands of the 1980s, whose songs have stormed the charts in Europe and will be played for centuries to come.

Astounding. To me it sounds just as good as the first time I heard it. I loved his dramatic stance while singing. I love her dancing and her voice. And the music. It was released in the eighties but it is not of the eighties, It's much more powerful.

What I find interesting is that this American band were incredibly popular in mainland European countries, only slightly popular in the UK, and not popular at all in their own country.

Why I no longer listen to "pop" music or those type of radio stations any more. Pop music quit any sort of forward evolution about 1990, shortly after the break-up of the band Missing Persons. (There's an irony in that somewhere.) Its now boy bands, girl groups, and various former members of boy bands or girl groups now performing as solo artists... oh, and scions of former sitcom stars (couldn't forget Robin Thicke, sadly.) These days, I'd rather listen to rock, goth, punk... anything but pop music. Pop music is the black hole of popular culture, a singularity that has transcended the metaphorical to begin literally sucking away at the fabric of the universe around us.
Well the slag Madonna's arrival and subsequent welcome from everyone, despite being the biggest and vilest 'musical' cheat on the planet began the rot, sharing it with Pete Waterman, which then killed the 80s and laid the foundations for the hell of all the decades to follow. Nothing but offensive crap after crap, and what's with the extinction of all the arsehole critics too. They they were in the 80s tearing down everything in the 80s, yet loving the shit. It's just that technology has made it easy to expand your horizons and to put lipstick on a cookie cutter pig. There's an exponential sea of crap out there to wade through.

Big fan here. I'm from the US but saw CR for the first time when I was living in Europe in the 80s. At the time, I thought they must be huge to have made it across the water, but no one at home had heard of them. I think they missed the chance for getting big in the States because of their name and America's unfamiliarity with the tale of Cock Robin; radio stations just saw the "Cock" and didn't play them. They were at least as good or better than their contemporaries from the UK who made it in the US, Spandau Ballet, ABC, for example. I'd rank them up there with Simple Minds as among the best of the 80s. Good times. Thank you, Cock Robin.

Never understood why they didn't make it in the US but your point about their name is interesting. Not being a native english speaking person, I assumed that since the word 'cock' can have so many different meanings, it was not really an issue but your view has an American changes mine. I actually could not think of a band here in France name "bite "-something and get played on the radio... But I might be wrong, french people often have a taste for strange and disturbing things...
No-they didn't make it for the simple reason they make good music America can understand. Like Voice Of The Beehive, 'Til Tuesday, Bangles, Information Society before them, they don't understand when they've got something decent as they understand terrible power ballads, country and rap shit and disco. The few times the US produce something decent, they'll never want it. They're all about Madonna the vile, Bon Jovi, Michael Jackson, Pariah Carey, Celine Dion, N Sink (yes, do), Shintney Spears, Diarhinanna etc. All conventional ugly crap that says and does nothing but make you revolted. Honest, multifaceted song genres, sounds and normal looking people with good to great voices-can't expect that to get that! After all, this is a nation that couldn't even except ABBA for the brilliance they are, seeing as they didn't "sound" American. How pathetically vile and xenophobic can you get? But that's them for you-and they wouldn't have it any other way. Yet they make sure every country takes their own shit-and dumbly we all do.
