A Review of the Cadac Carri Chef 2 and a tasty BBQ

Well, with a fabulous April day in Pembrokeshire, we decided to get the Cadac Carri Chef 2 BBQ out and go for a picnic. We've just bought this particular one for our Mobilvetta K-Yacht 79 motorhome having owned Cadac BBQ's for a number of years and always been very pleased with them. It needed a good test before our trip to France - bring on the sausages and burgers :)) !!

FYI 2m max gas pipe recommended by Cadac due to it being low pressure, longer than 2m results in poorer heating performance and more chance of the flame being blown out.

Whether you use the old or the new one, I still think Nothing beats the old large Skottel, with the old separate heat diffuser underneath it.

Great video and information. Great bit of kit, used them for years. Top tip, I pour hot water into the base of mine to help level it, plus it catches any fat drippings, when using as a BBQ and makes the base far easier to clean.

I use the chef pan for everything along with the cadac mat. Easy to clean.
Not tried the mats yet Malcolm - they do look good though - might have to get a set for France this year :))

So what are the real differences between the paella and chef pan? Can you use them for the same things?
Good question Charles - they have brought the two items closer together in the last few years and really, the only visible difference, is the Paella pan has the stainless steel handles added to it to allow carrying. Being stainless steel though they do get very hot so it's gloved hands only to lift it once the BBQ is on :)
A great product though :)
i should mention that the original carri chef, or carry chef 1 does not interchange with the carri chef 2 or 50 models, none of the pans or grills will work.
