    Our job at MXA is to find the truths and un-truths of every model that rolls out on the showroom floor. To do this we have to put ourselves in your shoes meaning we have to live with the race machine of your choice as you would. We have to ride on it, work on it, break it, maintain it, and find the best settings that suit your needs. The process for us is sped up 10 fold by having an army of experienced test riders ranging in size, skill level, and age that constantly ride and race these bikes year around. We lived with these 7 bikes for many months and many races. Motocross Action's goal is to deliver the most comprehensive shootout in the media. The contenders this year are the Kawasaki KX250, Husqvarna FC250, Honda CRF250, Yamaha YZ250F, GASGAS MC250F, Suzuki RMZ250, and KTM 250SXF . In this video we break down each motorcycle and how they performed on track. We hope this video helps you make a decision on a new motorcycle long before you spend your hard earned cash at the dealership.

    • @MRmwr2452
      @MRmwr2452 Před 2 lety +4

      They were talking about how the 450 frame mounts put the 250 farther back and doesn’t weight the front wheel as it did previously so the neutral position on the kx for turning is more forward. Each bike has a turning sweet spot except RMs. They turn no matter where you sit lol.

      That's true 👍

    • @jackieonassis7438
      @jackieonassis7438 Před rokem

      It's because Kawasaki cut corners in manufacturing by throwing the 250 engine in a frame it was not designed for and consequently the weight is too far back. Also the air filter literally doesn't fit in the air box, as it smashes against the air box, effectively closing off part of the area of the filter and ensuring that any water entering the air box will be sucked in. It's a shody design.

    I wish theyd do a shootout geared towards the 95% of people who ride the bikes. It seems as though there is such an emphasis on motor. Maybe Im wrong but I think practically nobody is ever going to get on any of the bikes and be able to hold it wot..riding it to its full capability. So sure engine character is important. If you did all this breaking and rebuilding of the bikes why, MXA, would you not emphasize a category like reliability /dependability. Parts prices/availability..ect? I think if these shootouts were more practical and geared towards your average guy the Suzuki wouldnt just go straight to last.

      Funny you mention that. We have a lot of test riders that are vet or novice based. We don't just use all pro riders. Obviously the video has high skill level to keep the entertainment factor up. In real world testing all these bikes see a huge variety of test riders. We are keeping the average rider in mind. The results might actually be different if we just did pro level rider tests only. We also say this in the audio.

    • @rdbs505
      @rdbs505 Před 2 lety +5

      I gotcha..dont get me wrong it was informative and entertaining. I am just of the opinion that a slightly heavier bias towards handling, suspension, and topics like durability and parts prices would possibly be of more importance to the majority of viewers than in depth details at length regarding motor. For ex.. One thing Id love to see is a 100 hr review showing which models held up the best when being ridden by someone representing the average guy riding racing mx/woods. Which bikes needed fixed and how expensive it was..ect. That would be cool.

    Kawasaki is 2nd in points by a hair, here in 2022. I wish these “shootout” vids showcased bikes that have the basics that are needed to make the bikes viable in their weakest areas, instead of right out of the “box”, with only sag, and clicker adjustments. I understand the idea, but it’s becoming ridiculous to watch these videos then Kawasaki, or Yamaha riders are constantly on the podium in the AMA. Idk? I still love motocross, and all bikes. And btw I realize this is probably directed more at the consumer, but at the end of the day….. RC rides a Suzuki. Yes I get these are 250f’s… just saying

      The radiators aren't wide it's the frame. In an interview Tomac said he actually likes it being a little wider because it makes the bike easier to grip. Of course to each his own, but you do get used to it. If you want a bike that has great performance but yet has reliable and durable second to none, then the Yamaha IS the bike you want.

Any chance someone could help me understand how the 250MX bike power might compare to the KTM I had as described above? I’m an old dude now and don’t want to end up killing myself.

All you need to do to the bike is respring it, revalve it, exhaust, up one tooth in the back, run mr12 and tune it a little fat. The fuel and exhaust really give it more of a hit, and you can always out turn everybody else.

    It’s really hard to understand how the KTM and Husky are at the front. When everyday riders are choosing the GasGas, Yamaha and Hondas over them two. I think the testing crew doesn’t really represent the modern everyday rider.

    • @ybj___
      @ybj___ Před 2 lety

      The gas gas is good but it was a more cost friendly version of the ktm and husky and i do believe they used the ae48’s instead of the xacts for suspension last year if im not mistaken i could be wrong. I race with a guy thats on a gas gas 450 hes pro and he hated the suspension and his dad is on a ktm 450 and he had no problems riding his dads bike but for a average/below average rider you will never notice the difference thats what the shootouts fail to adress and they make people believe that what they put at the top is at the top but theyre on a completely different skill level
